That was just massacre.
Meeggaatrrron.
While he is pretty much legendary in footbag, I fear that maybe his promising dance career may get in the way in the future.

damn, nice work from all. norek's dropless was amazing, but it's hard to compete with a robotic alien overlord.
i sense an impending boss battle.

Great job Milan! Very exciting to watch.
Just a few comments on Vasek's performance:
Did it seem kinda like a cameo routine to anyone else? Like he was there at the event, but the routine was more of a "Here's what a routine looks like", instead of a "This is how you win a routine"?

to me, it was more like, it takes a ton of effort to be the very best footbagger in the world by far.
Somehow, he managed to fit that amount of effort into 2-4 years, whereas some of us will never even be a 10th as technically good as he was after 2 years of playing (myself definitely included) in our full footbag careers. Then, he maintained it after 2 years for another 5-7 years, and now it's time for the young blood inspired by him (just like he was inspired by Mulroney) to take their place.
A big difference, to me, was that it took him 2 years to overcome Mulroney, and it's taken 6-8 years to overcome him, and not only that, but he overtook Mulroney at his peak. No one can come close to the most hardcore that vasek could bust.
Not to say worlds 04 was necessarily his peak, but just watch the worlds 04 videos. No one can do that. Some people have busted some of the same combos from that footage, but if you took the same amount of total footage of the world's best today, they would be hard pressed to recreate that same level of intensity that was captured of Vasek 6 years ago, and not one of them could party like Vasek during the same week (maybe Penske).
I once saw Vasek go from being a twitching, wasted, hung-over person passed out on a gym floor with a sweatshirt covering his face so he could sleep, to the World Champion of Footbag within the time it took for Net finals to end, and for him to finish Freestyle finals. Worlds 2005, Helsinki. He stood up, drank an energy drink, and won Worlds. Unbelievable.
So, all I'm saying is, to me, it wasn't that he wasn't trying hard enough this time, and making a cameo appearance... It's that you can only try hard enough to beat the world's best players, who are 7 years younger than you and currently peaking, for so long, and maybe that amount of time has passed.
Even if he is now beatable by the best players, his influence is currently untouchable, in my eyes.

good point. but, he's only 23 right? i think he is just more into football now. but i agree, few strings bust as hard as vasek '04.Matt Cross wrote: It's that you can only try hard enough to beat the world's best players, who are 7 years younger than you and currently peaking, for so long, and maybe that amount of time has passed.
can't wait to see milan and norek progress even higher !
If a single drop wasn't an issue I bet Vasek would have played less conservatively. If he could have afforded a drop I am sure he would have thrown down twice as much ridiculous content.
He looks like he isn't at the level where he can fudge a winning routine at the moment, though. Not by today's standards. Looking forward to seeing what he has to offer at worlds. Worlds is going to be sick.

Im Calling It,
Time of Death: Whenever they anounced the Finals Results and those seconds.
The death of Vaseks reign of footbag routine dominance.
(Although I partially feel it's because he has moved on)
I've been kind of sad for a while that he has lost his motivation for the game. But also happy to see Megatron's enthusiasm for the sport. Very Inspiring.
