Attention People who are attending the USO AND WORLDS

Post by sidekick »

It looks like the best options are carpool and then bus/train for the people who are going to USO and Worlds this year. Car seats will be given priority to people who the driver has promised to take first, and then after that it goes to the people with the most travel expenses to get to Portland (i.e. people who flew from Europe, then Canada, then the East coast...)

Please note that the seating list is tentative and will most likely change when we actually leave. Really, you can ride with who ever you like, I just wanted to make a list of the people who have spots for sure. Also, I'm still looking for more drivers, so if you're not on the list of seats, you may get a chance, but plan for the train (or bus, which takes longer I think)

CARPOOL INFO

Car 1 Driver: Red Husted (3 seats)
Car 2 Driver: Aaron Shepard, Evan Gatesman (3 seats)
Car 3 Driver: Evan Lovely (5 seats)
Car 4 Driver: Aaron Orton (4 seats)

Total seats available: 15
People Confirmed: 16
Unconfirmed (?): 2

People In Cars For Sure:
1 - Wiktor Dębski
2 - Gosia Nycz
3 - Will Diggs
4 - Anzi
5 - Tom Kotsakos
6 - Hania
7 - Ners
8 - Manna Mpepo
9 - Justin Hall
10- Sam C.
11- Marieann M.
12- Damian Gielnicki
13- Eric Chang
14- Eoghan
15- Cale McCoy

Other Possibilities:
Kalie Manna's friend
Nick Landes
Luis Monhollon?
James Chance?

I dont know how exactly I am getting to the worlds from Portland but carpooling would work best for me, and could we make a list of people that are in for car pooling so we know that we have a way to get there not last minute?

FC Footstars rented a bus to get from Worlds '08 in Prague to the Berlin footbag camp the following week. That was really cool. And fun. [Michal has a very special sense of humour.] They managed to make it cheaper than other forms of transport, and the bus was full. It was so awesome that I opted out of driving to Vienna at the last minute to tag along.

I would need to drive to San Jose from US Open immediately after it finishes, or early the next morning. Does anyone plan on going that soon?

As of yet, I don't know when we plan to leave, but I would assume that it would be as soon as possible so we could get there and chill for a while after the first competition before having to compete again. I don't know about anyone else, but car rides can kill my game (especially if it's a long drive...)

Driving from Portland to SF is 2-2.5 tanks of gas in a fuel efficient car (i.e. 90 bucks). Split 4 ways thats less than 25 bucks per person.
My name: Jeremy Mirken, AKA Chocolatey Shatner, AKA jerk enemy rim.

I kick it with trunk chef elf and liz luck key my.

I think it is 635 miles from Portland to San Francisco. Figure your car gets 35 miles per gallon, that is 18 gallons of gas to make the trip. Figure gas will cost $3.50 per gallon on the west coast in the summer months, that would be $65 to be more exact.

Pdx-SF-

miles: 635
gallons of gas: 18
cost of gas: $3.50
total gas cost: $65.00 one way

If I drive, there is a $5.00 cover per person, I pick the music, but you can smoke. Must wear deodorant.

Me and Hania are planning to attend US Open, and carpooling seems like a great option. So you can put us "on the bus" :)

So, it looks like there are quite a few people who want to go. I need to get a head check from Facebook (i know there are a lot of footbag players there that may not search modified) and figure out how many cars we would need, and then get Red to talk to some people about an estimate for the charter bus.

Ideally we would just take 4 or 5 cars down, with 5 people in each of them, so 20-25 people could go. That way we wouldn't have to rent a bus for a week and a half, and have most of the people who came down leave from San Fransisco to their place of origin.

I'm currently talking with people who live near Portland, Eugene, Vancouver, and Seattle to see how many cars we might be able to get a hold of. If everyone splits the cost, then it may be fairly cheap.

I just looked up train tickets from Portland to Oakland, and it's $77. That may be the best way for a bunch of people to go at once, and that way we may not have to take as many cars. I'll keep investigating...
