pacing yourself with footbag training and drilling

Post by thedudeman »

so i know its good to practice a lot because thats how you get better, but what is over working yourself exactly, what are its drawbacks
and what are your recommendations for the prefered amount of time that should be spent on footbag drilling and shredding during the week?

Everyones limits are different. I personally find I can play for an hour / hour and a half a day every day with no reprocussions. With work and life, it doesnt always work out that way but I try.

So yeah, in summary, as much as you like, when you like, as often as you like, but listen to your body, itll tell you when its had enough :D

The weak points are your joints. When your joints are aching dont push it, muscles can handle more stress. Its very common for people to get alot of pains and stuff, use your sense and dont overdo it. Push yourself but take your time?

I was just pondering these questions myself this week.
I personally find that short sessions that are easy to recover from are better than long sessions if you feel they leave you too broken or tired to train the day after. In other words, for myself I find that it's a lot more effective to train often than to train long. If I feel like a session is exceptionally taxing, I make it short so I'll be able to train the day after.

Would be interested to hear other perspectives regarding this.

For me, it depends on what time of the year (training season) it is.

In spring I play 7 days in a row, then I take a day or two off. When I'm doing that kind of training, then I only play 30 minutes to an hour when I start, and work up to about 2 hours closer to summer. The reason for it being so specific is that worlds is 7 days long.

After worlds I train less often, but still for about an hour. I also go to group sessions, but I try not to play as hard for a while (usually to let my body heal from training and competing at USO and Worlds)

i play all through out the day, and take small breaks inbetween, but these seems to overwork my muscles, so maybe ill stick to one hour and a half to two hour sessions a day, and then try and let my legs rest
