RCS Chronicles 6 -Ricky-

Post by bustinjustin »

Wow, been a while since I've gotten to post one of these. Since my last video I moved (for the first time in 10 years) and have been really busy acclimating myself to the new digs and doing other computer projects. I have also been on a string of injuries, back, shoulder, and I fractured my shin during a skiing accident. Almost healed up and hopefully ready for summer events.
Well I pulled another tape from my treasure trove and found what I think is the last recorded session I have of Ricky, ever. I could be wrong (I hope that I am), but I didn't think I got any footbage of him on this camera and I found this on the second half of a tape I had taped over (thank heavens!).
Couple of things, first, sorry about the bad angle, the shot is crooked, and I need to get better software so I can zoom in on these shots. I didn't do any transitions on this one and basically left the strings in the sequence in which they occured. I left in just about every Ricky string, cuz if your like me you can never get enough Ricky. So this is my longest video at 8.5 minutes. I try to keep them under 5 to keep the boredom at bay but I just couldn't cut Ricky and I think he keeps it interesting anyway.
Ricky Update: Well I don't talk to him anymore and I think he's pretty far gone as far as being a person is concerned. I just hear rumors, and I'm waiting to run into him on the street soon, because I think he is homeless. From what I've heard he's gotten caught up in a lot of trouble with the law and drugs and well, it's just sad. But, I will always cherish the times we had shredding, there was never a better friend and competitor to play with. I still hope deep down he'll come back. The good news is that I still have a ton more footage of him to put out from earlier tapes, I just need to figure out how to produce them.

This video also features Sam Potter...Do Work Son!

Well let 'er rip...and I'll shut up now....

2 comments?! This video rules! Ricky rules! Thanks a lot for the footage Justin, Ricky's style is so inspiring. I think I hit more spinning ducking today than any other session. Sad to hear about his personal life, hope things turn around and he makes a triumphant return to footbag.

Wow great video! (and don't worry about the angle, doesn't really take away from the video at all, I barely noticed) Sad to hear the news about Ricky. The steez in this video is really inspiring. I have actually thought about trying to hit spinning ducking mirage > atomic drifter myself, but it's way too hard. So many sweet links in here.

This one is going in the favorites bin.

Thanks for taking the time to reply guys.
I love Ricky's style he's a skinny Lon/Peter hybrid.
My favorite thing about kicking with him was anything was possible. I love how he just tries flurricane in the middle of a string like it's no thang.
He always had a knack of throwing a suprising link with incredible fluidity. I have much more mind blowing stuff to come from him, when he was in his prime.
Thanks again.

Their is truely only 1 ricky. I remember that whenever I kicked with him (which was ALOT) you just couldn't look away once he had the bag, not for a second. If you did you were bound to miss gold. If only their was a scrap of footage of him in his prime. Nobody out side of seattle has ever seen him in his prime and I sincerely feel bad for all of you.
On another note regarding ricky, at the moment he is off the drugs and going to go through rehab. I don't know if he will ever be the freestyler that he was but I really believe he will make a comeback as a person.

Thanks for the footage justin. Can't wait for more.
I like to play.
I want to play good.

I have watched this video and "just a taste" about 100 times and Ricky Moran is mind boggling! So smooth...and good.

I played with Ricky today. He is working to get it all back and I think he is on his way. His vortex is so fucking smooth. Back-brace motherfucker.
