thanks so much nathan and tom.

this flood down here is getting really crazy. a lot of people are still under water and without homes... been trying to help with the cleanup effort as much as possible.

we have a mall here that went completely under water... and now the water has gone down to about 9 feet. there is an aquarium restaurant in there where most of the salt water fish have died, but pirahnas have survived and are biting some of the rescue workers! luckily i am safe and haven't been effected... but my boyfriend's entire recording studio went under water, and a lot of people have lost their lives, loved ones, and their pets.

makes you really appreciate small things. unfortunately, a lot of people don't have flood insurance, the national news isn't giving us very much coverage. we are lucky to have the red cross and to have such a giving community (ie. volunteer state).

i hate to be complaining about my knee, when people close to me have a lot bigger problems. ive lost a friend to this flood already, and two people who are close to me are still missing. this is really tragic and devastating. most people dont have flood insurance because who could have ever guessed this would happen. theyre coining this disaster "the 500 year flood".

thank goodness for loved ones and strangers who care

Oh my gosh! I don't really watch the news, and I only heard about it today, and haven't seen any pics/vid.

i'm a GIS technician (specializing in floodplain management) & work with this stuff on a daily basis. it's pretty wild to see it hit your own town though. our unfinished basement flooded 8 in. on saturday & another 9 in. on sunday. thank God for sump pumps! we had to move the washer/dryer up on cinderblocks to keep'em outta the water.

500-yr flood does not occur every 500 years, it just means that there's a 0.2% chance that mapped area (wet zone X) will flood in any given year. i was volunteering on monday (neary shelby park, beside the Cumberland River) moving boxes out of several houses with water up to my waist.

more bad news. maybe this can be my outlet for a bit since no one that lives near me reads this... (except elliott)

i found out thursday that i have cervical cancer. im going in tomorrow for a cone biopsy. wish me luck.

after that im seeing another doctor about my knee and my mri. wish me luck.

and on top of that, my boyfriend broke up with me this weekend. my life couldnt get any worse. i could really use some support, but im quickly finding out that my friends arent really friends... or that my ex wont let me hang out with our mutual friends. i didnt tell him about the cervical cancer because i was waiting for the right time. never got it. god i miss him.

so tomorrow, theyre going in and cutting out a wedge of my cervix. then going to the knee doc to find out what surgery i need for that. i have no support system. someone help

Holly,

We're praying for you over here in Illinois. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

thanks for the support everyone... and thanks for those that called me. i really appreciate you.

good news.

they cut everything out and they think ill be alright. i go in for an ultrasound in a month to double check. in a little pain but not compared to how my heart feels.

as far as the knee goes... its NOT a torn meniscus... its not a torn anything. super strained medial collateral ligament... i have physical therapy to heal... should be back to normal in 4-6 weeks.

my heart is still pretty broken. i feel nautious when i think about him... but when i look at how he treated me... and with the guidance of a few good friends... i know i can find someone who will treat me right. just a matter of finding them and not fucking it up.

other good news...

i got an email from bbdo in chicago. he wants to show my portfolio to the new creative director. hopefully this will get me a job up there... as i have nothing to stay in nashville for anymore

ALLLLLLLRIGHT

im gonna start stop (i know) being a debbie downer...
time to "own it" and take control...

physical therapy: commence.
improved attitude: begin.
brighter outlook: working on it.

my knee will heal. i will footbag again. i will gain self confidence. and i will say "fuck you!" to anyone who stands in the way.

toe stalls will work great with rebuilding knee muscles. then inside stalls. and i will work this back up. sure, starting from the beginning is goddamn depressing... but its what i gotta do if i wanna do it. i feel like ive started from the beginning so many times... but you know what, if i cant pick myself up and brush off... then what am i worth?

thank you for the support everyone. im not sure if all the cancer is gone... but im gonna "own it" and pretend that it is. if its not... ill cross that bridge when it gets here. sure, my boyfriend left me... but obviously he didnt care. yeah, i gave up a lot and hurt a lot of people in the process... but im going to try to make amends and not let this happen again. (one person in particular im saying this to, and if youre reading this. thanks. ill tell you in person, cause im working on it.)

stay tuned for the NEW and POSITIVE holly... because shes coming back with a vengeance and wont let some stupid dude get in the way

Yeah!

Did you know that Lon Smith took 2 years just to train himself on the basic stalls and tiltless moves? Everything starts and revolves on the basics. We are ALWAYS going back to our beginning roots in footbag! :)

Easy does it. Some things you've just got to be ready for, and there's no rushing them.
