nice videos jay, i laughed out loud when i heard baby felix's godly voice lay over the top!
i especially liked spinning dso, midstring spinning symp swirl and void, throw an alipine whirlygig on the front of that and you have yourself one legitimate unicorn link
i feel like in that video there werent so many of the barflies, dlos and eggs you usually seem to have in your game. whether that was just that session or concentrating on other things recently. i also think just putting in more symp whirls and plain ol swirls which you can obviously do would break up your strings
but i guess thats just on a question of variety, not freedom...

I enjoy footbag. I also enjoyed playing footbag with Larni today. Sadly, he's leaving in a few weeks, back to Europeland.
We had a great session today, well, at least I felt that way. I hit some big stuff, which always feels good, and Larni was getting back into it, but after about 30 minutes he looked as strong as ever. I am not sure why, but for some reason today I felt, more powerful than I usually do. I've been working on my posture, and I know this obviously helps for stuff like janiwalker / quantum, but perhaps it's propagating throughout the rest of shred too.
I love, like, absolutely love hitting links that remind me of Felix. Johnny links, Anssi links, Jorden links, they all feel good, but just those cranky 5's into eachother feel so rewarding. I tried for about a month, doing Penske and Lon style "playing", where, you don't drill and rather you just freestyle.. I just began to feel lost, and, exactly unpowerful, so it feels great to get on an Anssi program again. I suppose I broke protocol by playing with Larni, but I suppose some things are more important in the long run, like playing with a friend who'll be leaving soon, than doing those swirl repeats.
Worlds worlds worlds! { in the tone of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4c6KeQmXnEw }. It looks like I'll be going, and what I like even better than me going, is that ANSSI THE ACCELERATOR, and (I assume) MILAN MOTHERFUCKING MEGATRON are going. Two of the biggest bad asses in Footbag, [regrettably, Kozlov has been disqualified..
] in ONE city, ready to show us all what is up. I suspect that this year will feel much like 2007, which was the bomb diggity, but the difference for me is that I can almost play footbag now.
I'm still not as good as Chris Dean, Will Digges, Nick Landes, Byrin Wylie, or Evan Gatesman were that year, but I feel like I'm within reason, if you wore prescription glasses when you didn't need them. I've always had a secret footbag-crush on all of them, simply because they represented exactly what I wanted to be. Like, being a Dave-god, or a Penske-Greek-God, or a Vasek-solar-system, or perhaps even a Jorden-mothership would be nice... But, when you're gossiping among footbaggers, everyone knows they are the shit. The anticipation, the rush, the amazement that comes from someone who you don't know how capable they are is so much more interesting in a way. Seeing someone bust in circle, and wonder if they have what it *takes* to take a big gun, just, the amount of excitement involved is just pure frothyness. For example, take Wesley Snipes and Samuel Jackson, and put them in a ring against a blue whale. You know the blue whale is the real deal, but the outcome is still so unsure you just don't know. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-2uGIH3ZaI
One reason, that I think I might be good at footbag soon is because I will have reached a goal I made, back two years ago in my original shred-partners room, the one I made 2 months before Germany (Liam), when he got me Champion's League for my birthday. I remember watching the drills section, and basically having multiple series of reverse, and normal orgasms. If you're wondering what a reverse orgasm is, imagine 6 years of your life being inserted within a printer, the most malicious object given to humanity in a direct path to make your brain unravel and suffocate you. Anyhow, I remember watching the drills section, and re-playing it over, and over, and over again. I couldn't bare how awesome it was, plus Jay Z is a pimp. But yeah, out of the 27 drills I can only not hit 4 [namely, the ps whirl ones]. I've hit most of them, and have come within footing most of the other ones, without directly dedicating time, rather just, doing them. So, once I can do all but the ps whirl ones, I think I could give myself a pat on the back. I've got the jani/stepping whirl/scorp which is out of my reach, and not ps whirl, but fortunately both halves aren't hard.
I'm even really close, like, 3 contacts on both sides, to some really hard drills that I've dreamed of since I was a dear little boy. Yesterday I got ripstein->double blender->ripstein, and double blender->ripstein->double blender bs, which is I believe pretty tough. Evan Gatesman could do it while eating Jell-o, but yeah, he's BAP 2.0.
Many sessions ahead. I wish I could have 4 per day, and talk to Tuukka while eating cornflakes.

even when I was unable to play footbag for 4-5 months I made it an every day routine to check your blog. thanks jay for writing some entertaining stuff. and you are good, infact your getting very good! you have what Jim Penske calls "the fire" or the drive to be great. keep it up, I know some day youll be one of the best
Your next task: Go to the bathroom.
Wash your face.
Put your shoulders hunched upwards.
Look really, really slowly upwards towards the mirror like in the movies
And slap yourself in the face.
With your game face on.
And go shred with jim.
It'll work, trust me.

Gyro Janiwalker, Both Sides.

One side was retarded-ly clean, bag rose up after the spin + dexes... The second side was more of a spin->jump->downtime jani, like flurricane.
And Zac,
Thanks so much for that, entire post. I'll be on the side of your world, visiting your dear Brother/Penske, in just 2 weeks... So, hopefully I can properly thank you in person.

.............................The ballad of puddles.
Boiseland, day 1.
After a about 5 days in Texas, my trip to Boise was about to begin. I had my short shorts, footbag tshirt, gunits afoot, and carried a backpack and dufflebag armed with everything I thought I need to tackle the true Boise experience. Zeb and Puddles had let me know in advance that they'd show me the true highlights of living in Boise, but I had little knowledge of what Idaho had to offer other the the great puddle inducer, Jim Penske, and Potatoes. I sat next to a slightly attractive, at least 30+ year old who really, really enjoyed talking on the plane. She let me know what Idaho had to offer, asked a lot about Canadia, and let me know what was good or bad about Boise. My recommendations were "Avoid the Rhino," and "Go to Big Judd's". I got off the plane, and the one side of the airplane showed sleet/rain, and the side I was on showed merely cloudy skies. Odd how you can be on those fine lines of precipitation. I waltzed out of the airport looking for a large carnival sized lollipop to give to Zeb for his work on the world ranking list, but no dice. I only saw a shirt with a bear on it.
Zeb was waiting on a lone bench at the baggage carrying place, as my plane was a tad late (13 minutes?). It felt immediately like the kool aid man had said "ooooh yeahhh" in my head, but I decided to simply play it cool and ask about Boise, and subtly hint at when the fuck we were going to get to kick. We walked out to his dear year 2000 3 door automobile, and the sleet had already subsided. Thankfully, unlike every airport ever, downtown was probably 3 minutes away from it. We crossed capitalist America, with hundreds of stores and insurance groups coupled with a side of banks, and stopped at a grocery store. We picked up some supplies, two of which were a cookie cake for Jim (Kyle Hewitt's favourite), and an apple crumble for Jim. The cookie cake said "#1 Mom" on it, hopefully he took that the right way... We also grabbed some condiments for Elk steak, *mhmmm* and all the other fine ingredients that would supply our stomachs on the final night of my stay in Boise. Turns out Boise hosts nice, kind people coupled with females who dress nicely. Zeb and I decided to have a light session before Jim got home, to warm up and whatnot, and it turned into a 2 hour session. I wasn't really feeling it, but you never are on that first session, but it was a decent icebreaker anyhow. We listed to some Jim favourites, including Wu-tang, while we played right outside his lair.
Let me tell you something about Jim's lair. Outside his lair, around the windows, there are constantly puddles. Puddles, puddles, and more puddles. Direct day light can be peering in through his blinds, in clear sunlight, and puddles are just everywhere. No faucet leaks, no plumbing problems, just puddles. I imagine the female nose probably goes into a frenzy feeding on pheromones when she walks down Jim's stairs and sees a few guns, a tv, dirty laundry and a metric shit ton of Footbag shoes/supplies. Anyhow, upon Jimothy's arrival to the lair, Zeb and I found out that it was --edit-- So, it was up to Zeb and I to have another session, and session we did.
Life cereal: While in the 6th aisle of the grocery store at which we stocked up on steak supplies, I also bought foreign milk, coupled with a terrible choice of cereal. There were a few choices which exceeded the limits of cereal options in Canadia, but Zeb told me a story. This story was that, when Jim buys cereal he gets Life. This is because, it actually sinks to the bottom, making it possible to eat it out of a glass.
I bought life cereal.
When Penske found the cakes on his bed when he got home, he didn't really say anything, probably because I put little bows on them, but I was slightly anxious to see if they even tasted good. Brutis, Jim/Zeb's dog, didn't even devour them in plane sight, so that got me worrying. Brutis is a great dog. He is obedient, doesn't bark or annoy you, sheds a little excessively, and spoons. Keep in mind that I haven't slept next to another being since I was like, 7, and when you wake up being the little spoon, it is a little alarming. Alarming for a few reasons... 1.) Who is the big spoon? 2.) Are there, ever enough spoons? 3.) How didn't I notice this before? 4.) Why is my spoon hairy? So yeah, sleeping on the fold out couch in the living room gave Brutis his attack area. Efficient bastard, praying on the body heat of a human to give him more energy for badassery for the following day. Totally Penske's influence.
Day two
So, today was the day that both Zebriah, and Penske-ayoh had to both work, so I had four hours alone between their shifts. I took this time to make Zeb and Jim a bag, but having not made a bag in a great deal of time I hoped I wasn't too rusty. I had everything but the floss melted from the help of a lighter, This was the first day I got to play with Jim. He brought with him a white plastic bag, which contained two berry flavoured "amp" energy juices. He talked with this coach, a strong and long lasting coach, while I warmed up in the quasi area between the driveway, and wind sheltering garage. Jim then arrived, and said "I'm not sure if you're into this sort of thing, but I got two energy drinks." Keep in mind, I have never, not once, had an energy drink. Within a mere quarter second of the words leaving his mouth, my mind silenced the "Anything for the love of god, I'd club a seal if you requested", and I muttered "Yeah, sure", and let him know that I had never had one before. This was a pretty solid session for me, I didn't try anything super hard, I just, played, and thankfully it made a good impression on Jim. He hit some pretty solid stuff too, typical Jim style, and what was supposed to be a 30 minute warmup before Zeb got home, turned into a 3.5 hour session that lasted for a solid chunk of time after Zeb got home. It was sunny, not too windy, and the greek-god-ness of the speed racer / puddles was shown. I always like seeing the first string of a good player, because you can really get a neat impression of their style. Like, the first Johnny, Juho, Jorden, or, Jim string just leaves it's mark. The bounce, or lack of bounce, or whatever usually kicks me in the face to remind me of what I don't yet have.
Oh shit. I just wiped my nose on my shirt, blood everywhere. Jesus H Christus brain tumour, thinking about the bounce of Jim's first string that has superflies shouldn't make you pulse blood out my nose. brb blog.
Poor t.o. jam sleeve. At least the shirt I just now bled all over already has blood drawn on it.
Anyway, there is also always a song that leaves it's mark on my brain when I go to a tournament, or jam, or whatever. For example, you may recall my finland post, when I wrote about Sexy Chick, where Tuomas was just fucking getting down his his bad self dancing to that song on his seat. Well, turns out Idaho-radio stations play the same shit over and over, and the "heart breaker" song with Ludacris, and, some other guy, played a lot. Well, that was the song for this trip, because now every time I hear it I think of being in the back seat of Zeb's car driving to go shred. Fantastic. Boise is a heartbreaker, way to suck it up Canada.
SO, Zeb gets home and was wearing a red sleeveless shirt. This was remarkable for some reason in my long term memory, so Zeb, please do bring that to worlds. You and Reid could walk up to some gang in Oakland and out-badass them.
So, disc golf was on the agenda. Apparently when you go to a park in Idaho, there is disc golf, and there is a whole 'nother community, and 'code' associated with it. I'm severely burdened with self esteem issues, hence why I really never excelled at any team sports, or anything that involved other people watching you play. Making a large mistake in front of another human being pretty much makes a sleepless night for me, so yeah, throwing a frisbee also isn't what I'm cut out to do. So many times have I seen someone huck a frisbee across a lawn, and have had the wind toss it aside like a rag doll and spit in your clean clothes. But now, Zeb and Jim offered to go play, and well, how do you say no? So, I go up to the concrete slab and see just where the disc should go. Jim curled up like a cobra just fucking pops every girls cherry within a half mile radius when he throws, the his back initially turned to the basket+chains, and pumps his deafening calves against the ground and twists in fury to unleash that little wee disc through the wind, trees and marsh to land within a birdie of that dear little goal. Zeb, hood on, throws grass into the air to test the wind, cradles his disc and slings it into the cross wind, knowing very well the angle of his disc will over compensate for the wind and do that dear "s" curve to get 80% of Jim's throw. Then there is little baby Jay, who, tosses the frisbee 13 meters in front of him... Then hits a tree... Panda's have never been sadder.
So yeah, apparently throwing a disc in->out isn't really my deal, rather throwing out->in works for me. Now, with standing stationary and throwing out->in, I could probably get 80% of Zeb's throw, which is 80% of Jim's throw, giving me a 'bogey" every time. Brutis came with us for this, and like a champ he pissed on everything. Not excluding a 90% full bottle of some peach juice, stationed right at the concrete slab where you swing that little disc. We never did see what happened to that bottle, but someone picked it up I'm sure of it. Rock on Brutis. By the end of the 8, erm, 'holes' we played, I finally began to actually take a few steps before tossing the Red "viper" disc ($8, but free to Zeb). I actually liked it in hindsight way more than I thought, enough to think about investing a small amount into a few discs to play with Johnny Suderman. Thanks the first, and second best Idaho footbaggers for enlightening me.
I believe tonight was the night, when we went to Big Judd's. I will now quote, Eric P Chang from the Stanford crew, when he was speaking to Zeb via Facebook Chat.
"GO TO BIG JUDD'S, NAO!".
Yes, it is that good. He said that at about 10:00 am on Friday. Why is that odd? Because, Big Jud's serves a burger the size of a plate, that is why. You use Idaho french fry sauce, and dip those tater tots all up in its grill, and pound down the third of your burger cut by none other than renowned geometry PhD the Speed Racer.
Lesson Two: Cream based product.
While there is one lesson from Jim that I have learned, which is to purchase only Life cereal in time of need, but the second is what to get when purchasing ice cream on a shred-vacation. In principle, when you shred you should be filled with hydration, clean esophagus, and be ready to shred in pure lightning fast movements. However, when you have ice cream, you fill your stomach with goodness, while your tongue is still yearning for more, but your veins say "HaHA Foosbag! No twitchy furious sets for you, you will forever be plagued with floppy limbs trying to grift that er. Lesson of the story? Get the "sorbet" or "sherbet" or "sherbert", whichever word is on that chalkboard above the tubs of ice cream. It just so happened that my mind wasn't fully set on not getting cookies and cream (Oh dear god let my future wife be made of vanilla), but the waitress behind that chalkboard also let me know that the sorbet was where 'it' was at. So, back in the car with a waiting Penske and Brutis, I walked with Zeb behind that drivers seat to the obedient brutis, Penske style sorbet in hand. Lesson point achieved.
Watching some hacky videos with another, motivated shredder is always fun. Most of the people I watch videos with are at a tournament, or Johnny Jorden or the ACCELERATOR. At a tournament it is like you're cheating on the 2003 Vasek as if it was some sort of town orgy, but with another person who wants to ps whirl as bad as you do, it is just nice to share that feeling...And then go fucking shred. But anyhow, watching many videos of the west coast scene that I never would have seen. It was also cool to hear about lots of shred locations as I saw them, and the events of Penske videos I've watched a couple thousand of times. Fortunatley, dear Zeb allowed me to see many a shred location in videos, and that is a huge perk of traveling for Footbag.
The next day after some Life cereal and shred videos, Zeb and I went to the amphitheater to kick, and had a very nice low key session. We more or less drilled, or tried to do combos, and just had a nice fun session without pressure to bust huge or kick tush. All the sudden, Zeb did more than his 20 ripwalks first try.
Clap clap.
I get the bag, drop some double spinning clippers,
No clap clap.
Zeb hits an exasperated run from after the ripwalks,
Clap clap.
I get the bag, drop some double spinning clippers, land a few.
No clap clap.
Zeb hits another combo.
Clap clap.
I finally seal double spinning clipper->mobius bs,
One clap.
To random girl in the window: I know Zeb was shirtless, and I'm from America's hat, but where was the love?
Anyhow, Zeb hit some nice new stuff. The dear female had it right, dropping isn't cool.
Later, we went to Zen Bento. Zen Bento is a place of love, nurturing, complete bliss and I believe most people say the words "Namaste" as the walk in and out of it. It also happens to be a food serving establishment which hired Jim Penske, where I got the "Jim Bento". Let me tell you about the chicken in this bento. Marinated for 24 hours, cut with many a clean knife for no cross contamination, lots of sauce, even more sauce, and cooked to a fantastic moist texture which reminds you of the rubber subway feeds you (Sorry Cleaver, but I've heard what their chicken really is from Jim) except it is real. This sacred chicken placed inbetween and ontop of white (with extra cool whip style "hhoowip" W in front of white) rice, nuts, vegetables [what up good tasting legumes] and moooore sauce. Jim walked to my table with Zeb on the opposing side, secured the lid on top of the bowl and swished it around to blend the ingredients in a way only a man who has done 10+ beastly can do. Even better, is that because of the same ingredients that flow through Jim's veins that causes Puddles, Zeb and I were treated to free lunch. Fuck yeah Boise,
Idaho +2.
Later two days coming sometime soon. I miss Kebab just thinking of footbag vacations. Sadly, the reason this wasn't posted earlier was because I've been working a ton lately. As soon as I got back from this trip, it was straight to full time work and driving through traffic, so, wake up at 6:00...Start driving at 6:30, get there for 8:00, work until 5:30/8:00, and then drive home for an hour and a half, footbag+sauna and sleep. My parents have a small sauna, doesn't get very hot, but I'd still like to embrace what small part of Finnish I wish I had in my DNA. Anyhow, when I work in that location I don't have a computer of my own, so blog posts don't happen. This week however, I can leave at 7:10 am, and get home for 6:00, so Footbag + idaho stories await.
I'm deeply sorry I failed you Jim. However, your highlight enticed me to waste a few hundred strokes of my wee little fingers to rub a post out. And yeah, that combo is retarded. 6 props.
Lesson 3: Don't fail Jim.
Lesson achievement not received.

Jay Boychuk
Boiseland. Puddles. Right right, continuing on.
It looks like today was my second last final, badass day in Boise. I have a hard time recollecting this information, since the trip seemed like it was weeks, but in hindsight it was only 4.3 days. I guess that is what happens when you stand in the shadow of Idaho's finest players. I always love how big of an impression trips make, because a year later you can instantly recall "When I was in Idaho", what you were hitting, what you were thinking, versus "That week I was at school, and played footbag really well, but don't remember anything specific". It really can give you perspective to reflect on.
So, once Zeb had to go work, it was time for some "Penske". I got to watch shred videos, of Penske, with Penske. That was tight, if I had to use a five letter word. Hearing about the locations, what he was thinking, and stuff that occured behind the scenes is just what my inner-shred-gossip-o-meter really needs. Anyhow, looming in the back of my mind was the "I know Penske probably doesn't want to watch shred videos all night, [damn..], but I'm not HARDLY badass enough to hang out with him. If he wants to go have strippers pay him, what would I do? If he wants to go talk to the coach and ride a walrus to work, what would I do? If he wants to make first person shooters look like cake-walks and stab an elk with a knife, what WOULD I do? All of his regular morning routine activities are completely out of my grasp of coolness, or whatever I have. Shredding with him after playing with Zeb wouldn't work, again not badass enough, watching more videos was just the perfect medium, but like putting a squirrel inbetween three sets of equally nutritious nuts, it just wont stay there for long, it will have to go with its inner desires and pound one of those nuts like it was at work all day.
So, we went to a sports bar/diner, and ordered some food. Jim watches, and enjoys basketball and UFC. I, on the other hand, had never seen UFC and only passing by a television have I glanced at basketball. So, I had a lot to learn about some NBA finals, and learn I did. More entertaining however was the UFC descriptions, as Zeb had allowed me to see a little bit of footage earlier. So, when Jim spoke of people beating the shit out of eachother, or rather, one guy pummeling another, I had a good idea in my head of what was actually happening.
So, Jim and I spoke a bit of footbag, a bit of other sports, viewed skimpy dress codes on the female waitresses, and walked back to his house. For some reason I recall this walk being really awesome, and it wasn't just because Jim was telling me how he crushed former opponents with his fists. Something about surviving a day with Penske felt accomplishing, because although I know he would have rather taken one of those waitresses and threw her on the chandelier and had his way with her 14 feet in the air, he wasn't 234% uncomfortable just sitting at a normal human level. While I still wasn't a fraction as cool as I needed to be to actually have a good time with dear Pimpske, at least I survived.
We then watched Avatar in his lair, when his female came over. I could say so much about how exceptional this relationship is, like, he literally beats every penguin romance ever. He just wins relationships. I could start spewing again, facts and suspicions, but, that might not belong on my fizzied. Anyhow, to keep it rated R, once Avatar was 90% done, Zeb came back with a great chicken pizza, from Flatbread [his place of work]. It was ~11:30, and we retired to our sleeping positions to awake the next day.
Oh puddles. So many puddles.
Wake up: Brutis was with Zeb that night, and I recall because he wasn't in his usual spawning points. Chair perched in front of the street-view window, guarding the fort? Nope. My bed? Nope. Ambling in the kitchen, or on zeb's bed? Nope... So, I get up and prepare to feed myself some life, with foreign milk, and Zeb was awake, just getting out of his bed.. And where was Young Brute? He was busy stealing Zeb's covers. [insert overly-dramatic stamping sound, like when someone is not posted bail on a tv show] -Champ-.
So, to my knowledge today was a day that Jim had to work, and Zeb and I could hang out again. I was on a quest to buy a phone that isn't available in Canada, or -apparently- anywhere for that matter. I went to every store in my reach within canada, three malls in Houston [area], and then Zeb and I went to one mall, and their biggest best buy, and no dice. However, what good DID come out of this extra-tacular adventure, was two things: Orange Julius drinks, and lavers. Zeb took me to a place where he got -holds breathe- $20 lavers. Mesh, white green, beauty. I then walked in, and for the first time in my life, felt the curves and slippery slopes of multiple lavers, as I could for the virgin laver experience, see which ones ACTUALLY fit. So, twenty dollar bill in hand, smile on my face, a few coins for, again, holds breathe

I paid for my new shoes, and felt like I just kicked with Ted Fritsch. The Orange Julius, was notable because I had never thought of such a subtle, perfect texture. [P.S. I did just get my phone, and it is so far lovely. Giving Finland ~$600 of my money, just felt oh-so-tender. Thank you nokia, you goddess of fertility you.]
Jim Zeb and I went to downtown and had Breakfast at [Moon's?], and talked more about Jim's stupendous escapades with Women. Not blog-worthy, but oh-so-hilarious. What a pro. Apparently there was a UFC fighter signing downtown, JUST beside where we were. The pits that we missed it.
Anyhow, when we got home if I recall correctly, it was time to go to the shredquarters.
[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MPTbSJH0lE[/youtube]
Now, I'm sure if you've read any writeups before, you may have noticed that I thoroughly enjoy getting to see former, or current, shred locations from really awesome videos. Prior to idaho, I hadn't walked up the highest mountain, I had not parted waters to get to my ultimate life path, and I certainly didn't realize the potential of almost winning the "gotta catch 'em all" of footbag. Some of my most treasured shred spots, that I have seen in person are.
1.) Moir's basement.
2.) Anssi's Shed.
3.) Finland NYJ.
4.) Prague Worlds 2003 location.
5.) "The Basement" [cleaver]
6.) Steve's shred room.
7.) Steve's .org room.
8.) Steve's Pizza Oven.
9.) Steve's Work Location.
10.) Steve's, actually, I can't call it an automobile, it wouldn't do it justice. I'd rather, diligently take my time to appropriately name it... I'll call it, "The Bat out of Hell".
Now, I had finally entered the realm of existence, where unlocking the Nampa shredquarters achievement was in my grasp. Some patient 25 minutes of sitting in a car, and where Lon, Jorden, Pimpske, and I'm sure many many many more have shredded. On the drive, sitting beside the Brute, it reminded me a lot of driving to go see Johnny, when I brought Flavio or Anssi [THE ACCELERATOR]. Just this epic quest to see a man who harnesses his own nuclear energy. Anyhow, a few turns, a lot of tractors later, and we were on the other side of Nampa pulling into the shred quarters. First Zeb and Daryl were kicking, then Sunny, and being fashionably late, then Penske. This was a weird session, for most of it I just wasn't feeling 'it'. A lot of bad osis saves, and just, something was off. I did hit some decent stuff, as I recall, and I will write it down in some highlight order...
-Whirring Swirl,
-Blurry whirl->Spinning whirl*rpt
-Barfly->scorp*rpt
-Symp whirling swirl->Symp mantis
-Ps whirling swirl
-Some nuclear combos/links mid run, such as matador->leg*rpt, or pdx tap->tapping drifter,
-spinning swirl->janiwalker [I don't think I sealed it with a handcatch?]
-decent Alpine run, with spanishflys, tomahawks, and I think a ducking drifter,
-First Frantic moves,
-Wonton exploration, haven't done in a while.
And, when Penske sat in a chair and said "Do this move" for a bit, I hit Montage first try, and flurricane [no hand seal] first try. Those were decent highlights that made me happy.
The littlest Oreo. Oreo is a pretty cool dog, soft as anything you've ever felt. Brutis couldn't keep off the little one, naturally being Penske's dog. Well trained. After the shred, we went disc golfing on an apparently hard course. The hazards of this course were actually hazardous, and many a disc was lost. I felt lovely, because everytime I thought I lost a disc in a marsh, I seemed to find it, and I generally played it safe enough to not go in any water. However, Jim started feeding me with peer pressure and beer, and I suppose what I wanted to do as a safe shot just clusterfucked and I tossed it right into the wind, and right into a hazard. It is like I just saw $16 disappear before my eyes. *sigh*. Jim once again just ripped it, competing with Daryl now, both of which have very different playing styles. Much like footbag styles, now that I think of it, where Jim just grabs the hyena by the neck and cracks it, and Daryl gets to work. Zebriah hurt his [hip?] doing some ps whirls, so he was out, but was a mentor for me. Sadly, I didn't follow his advice well, because I still sucked pretty hardcore at disc golf.
It was however a beautiful day, and I can recall the funniest thing that happened on the course, when Sunny/Daryl/Cameron/Zeb/I were looking for two discs in a water Hazard. Zeb just points up, and says something to the affect of "Pure Man", and of course Penske is, literally, sunbathing on a finely mowed patch of grass. [Stamping sound again] Man.
After some short goodbyes, the Shredquarters were done. It was time to head back to the lair, and make a true Idaho-shredhouse-meal. Zeb and Jim cooked up POrk, Chicken, and Elk Steaks, along with some macaroni/potato salad, Caesar Salad, and to drink was Milk. At this time I sort of had to come to terms with the fact that I was having the last supper in Boise. What a short, but very awesome trip and, more lifestyle, it was. We then played some Grand Theft Auto before bed, where of course Jim could mash buttons and the game would think "Oh shit, we should give him a cheat code. Only penske could mash buttons like this", and suddenly we had flying cars. It always so happened that when we flew a car, hilariously soft music would come on, as we crashed into hoards of people.
Anyhow, then it was it. We went to sleep, and I woke up just before Zeb's work and was taken to the airport. I had hoped Jim didn't feel cheap, since I figured he would need his rest and wouldn't want to be up that early in the morning..So I left without saying a proper goodbye. In hindsight I probably should have ordered him those strippers I had been talking about. Zeb and I, anyway, went to go get gas, looked at the Boise foothills, and I was gone. Just like that.
If only Finland wasn't so incredible, it might be tempting to move to Boise. Thanks for the memories Zeb, you were a great friend to hang out with. And Jim, without a doubt you actually fulfilled any standards I had in my head, of you being idol-worthy.

-Whirring Swirl,
-Blurry whirl->Spinning whirl*rpt
-Barfly->scorp*rpt
-Symp whirling swirl->Symp mantis
-Ps whirling swirl
-Some nuclear combos/links mid run, such as matador->leg*rpt, or pdx tap->tapping drifter,
-spinning swirl->janiwalker [I don't think I sealed it with a handcatch?]
Idaho +2.

Once upon a time, a little Boychuk found his dream to kick footbag. He started to get better and better, and he had high hopes set for worlds 2010. He was finally good enough to maybe, just maybe get to semifinals in circle, and needed to place well in Semifinals for routines. He trained as hard as a little Boychuk could, after working 5 10 hour shifts a week, he would unlace those 5 pound steel toe work boots, sit in his car barefoot and drive home along either a only slightly congested highway, or battle through traffic lights and bike vixens. Once he was home, he'd eat some fruit, maybe some light pasta, talk to some footbaggers, and lace up his Gunits. These Gunits had treated the littlest Boychuk quite fairly, and now that the grip on their toe was almost in complete dispair, he knew this could be their last worlds.
Then, a little later upon a time, he found himself at the Shredquarters, trying to hit ps whirling swirl for Zeb Jackson. This was the last day of his journey in Boise, and he didn't care if his legs would get sore from the "PS" action of his legs. However, what was about to come was much, much worse. I'm going to call it, the "Littlest Pain in the Back", abbreviated to LPITB. The bad thing about a LPITB, is that it tricks you like a fine gypsy pikey would, by saying "Ah, it just feels a little sore, you should go play, it'll go away in a few days"... Then you play, take a day off, where it feels better. Then your mind says "WORLLLLDDSSS" and you play again, where, sneaking just under your pillow the LPITB whispers in your ear "Aha! I have you by the ballsack young Boychuk, instead of giving you ripped back muscles that will make ladies swoon, I'm going to cripple you to the ground!".
Once upon a time, Boychuk was a worried little boy. What would he do for worlds? He could no longer really train to get better for circle, because the hard combos and drills necessary to represent Canada simply weren't in the books for a LPITB, and his diabolical plans. What kinds of things could he do in order to progress? Well, he could work his routine I suppose.
A few sessions of routine work later, and the LPITB was almost behind the wooden chair,

And he was feeling swell. He had a long weekend from work coming up, so he decided to get himself to a good friend's house, and work routines. Upon his arrival, he tried to play real, circle, hacky bag and was in complete disarray. At the end of the session, once he migrated outside on some concrete, he had some legitimate good runs, but oh noeses, here comes the LPITB again, CLIMBING from the bottom of every valley, BURROWING past the badgers through SOLID limestone, and spanking hurricanes like they were gerbils. He was here, his presence was announced, the LPITB could now be known as "The fucking annoying pain in the back".
So, today will be a day of routines and whatnot, what state will the epic battle between the little Boychuk, and TFAPITB be in after the commercials? Stay tuned folks, turn off that world cup, stop your Stanley cup re-runs, and don't even consider visiting your mother. Will the boychuk's good eating habits, stretching sessions, and pure piss and vinegar blood flow conquer the giant shitstorm, that is back-pain? Jay, thanks for this blog. I just read this entire page and you're completely off the wall hilarious.
I know you're really psyched about training for worlds and want to do well in competition, but don't kill yourself in this last month and a half. That's a short amount of time to get much better and it's not worth risking having to hold back during casual shred all week.
Also I noticed you mentioned me as one of the people you'd like to be as good as in 2007 but I can assure you you're way better than I ever was. For now
. I can't wait to see you play in person again, I watch that NYJ 2010 video all the time! You're a rock star.
I'm interested to see how today's session went.

Hmm, that was a really neat post to read Chris. I thank you for that.
AS for that session, about half way through it started to get filmed, right after my best string, probably, ever. So, sadly that, and many other things aren't on film, but some cool stuff is. If you want to see it, badger "Eric Chang" to begin the editing process
Some random highlights from what you wont see on video...
-Vortex swirl first try,
-Good run with paradox torque->blurry drifter slapped in the middle.
-Vortex->symp mantis-massive osis-probably bops or something
-Double spinning clipper->superfly, [both flip]
-Good run with a quantum same side muted swirl in the middle, along with a high plains drifter and a swifter,
-fairy diving mirage*rpt->fairy ?weaving? mirage->run,
-That "best run ever" started with a motion->twirl, had a flip mullet, stepping ducking legover->pixie whirl, an eggbeater and a bedwetter, plus whatever else inbetween, ending on paradox symple blender into handcatch.
-Blurriest->far double pickup [per Zach Jahner's request]
-A few Kilo's, (downtime miraging symple double switch)
-Whirling far butterfly swirl
-Gyro flux was feeling easy,
-Grifter->whirling swirl*rpt->good run, with a diving drifter.
I hope that the footage that was on video turns out to be something nice to watch, because I can't imagine that, after 1.5 hours of routines, and then 1.5 hours of shred, that the last 1.5 hours of shred could have great runs. After about the 2.5 hour mark, I start tossing osii like they were free.
