.org events on Facebook- advice needed

Im running into a dilemma.
Id like some help.
Shred Global has been considering updating our facebook page with the events posted on the .org website. This double exposure would be great for the sport and could potentially increase the amount of connections made to both .org and modified, since most of the events listed have a page here on the "Journies to Tournies" thread. Many players/non-players are on facebook and many of the social networking aspects of the event pages could prove to help spread the word, both within and outside of the sport. This is all in the interest of promoting the sport and I would personally be willing to do this, and be in collaboration with those heading the events.
However,
I dont want to step on anyones toes. Many of the host groups already create event pages/groups for their events. The last thing i want is confusion and wasted time due to duplicates. However, some events go upspoken for.
Another issue with this is attaining responses for the events. Since SG is a "fan page," the invite option is limited because you cannot invite every "fan" of the page. The only inviting I could personally do would be at the limit of my "facebook friends." I see this as an issue since there are quite a number of euro/non-american/even american players ive never met or even come in contact with.
But then again, once they are posted on the wall, people/fans of SG would be able to access them and perhaps connect to the fb for further updates. Also, once posted, the fan page does allow for fans to be "updated," which i could do for the events, especially near their occurence date, yet i doubt many people check their updates.
As i think about this, it sounds like a pretty good idea in theory, but many of the upcoming events are likely going to have low fb turnout, since this would just be getting off of the ground, hopefully not discouraging people from becoming active with it.
Again, this is all in the interest of the sport. Trying to increase connections between FB, .org, modified, and the other footbag sites to spread the word about what the sport is and whats goin on with it.
Please let me know what you think, I'll gladly take any criticisms/ideas.

I think it's good to post the links to events. Don't create an event listing yourself, let the organisers of the event do that, but when you see events listed somewhere, post the link

I do that occasionally on the "footbag" fan page, and would be happy to post specific links to events if people wanted. "Footbag" now has over 2000 fans and unlike with a group, posting a link means it will show up in the feed for all of them. When I take up selling amway this will be helpful.

It would be cool if shred global could combine the .org events with non-sanctioned events ton modified or wherever, and post both the independent tournies/jams and the ifpa sanctioned events.

If there's already a page made for the event, who cares if you make another one through shredglobal? it multiplies the exposure if the event director of said jam/event, .org, and shredglobal post on facebook.

Posting links is a great idea. Ive already done that for a few events, but considering all the events on .org (and modified), thats a lot of events and it could really take up the whole wall. And once the event link passes, who is really gonna take the effort to sort through them to look for events? It would be much easier to pull up the events tab and just gaze at all the upcoming (and past) events, similar to .org.

In terms of exposure, I completely agree. The more places out there that people can hear about events the better. But in terms of any of the social networking (ie, inviting, who is attending, managing a page with up to date websites/info), having it appear multiple places could be confusing. If half of the people reply to the SG event listing and half to the host groups listing, and some people are attending the same event twice at the same time, from personal experience I think people just dont want to deal with that.
And that would still leave the issue that many of the European players are still quite unaware of SG, and many of the events on .org are Euro events.

My main pull for this I guess would be to have a part of FB that would be similar to .org. Not only could the events pages be listed, but people can be invited and updated info and reminders can be posted, sort of like a combo of .org and modified, with more direct exposure for both sites contained. Having an event tab where people know that they can look for many of the up and coming footbag events. I just dont want this to really fail if people pull of the tab and look at events, only to find that no one else really looks at the events either.
