Hopefully today I inspired a kid to get into footbag.

He seemed pretty eager, he was learning to stall from one foot to the other by the end of the day.

I am at work right now, the place is an absolute shambles, everything is falling to pieces, it's insane really.

Three and a bit weeks, I'll be in San Fran/summer/worlds.

Woo.

Registered today, it's all happening.

Played today, it was very cold outside, but I persevered. Didn't play for too long, had some nice long runs going. Went through different sections of my routine...it's getting there I guess.

Played squash afterwards, won 3-0. It was good. I'd really like to join a social comp or something, maybe something a bit more serious...I'll have a look once I come back from Worlds, it'd be good to get back into squash. It's a great game.

Will hopefully be heading down the coast next week.

Francisca gets back from Japan on Monday, can't wait for that.

Spain wins. 1-0 in extra time.

I got up to watch the match, but had to leave for work before the game actually ended.

Went to two really good shows yesterday, on a Sunday afternoon in Canberra, that is a serious rarity. All the bands I saw were brilliant. A great day. I saw 4 Dead, A Secret Death and Encircling Sea play in a basement, then my friends band Hoodlum Shouts played at a pub in the city.

At this first show, I was standing towards the back, as last time I went to a hardcore show it felt like I did something quite bad to my rib, but that feels better now, anyhow, I ended up having someone crash into me, actually this happened a few times. Then I ended up falling backwards onto a guitar case, now it feels like I have a slight cork in my leg. Not that good news, but I don't think it will affect my play.

A friend of mine is the main guy who books shows in Canberra, but he's moving to Melbourne shortly, so I'll be taking over from him.

I thought Francisca was coming home today, but it's not actually til tomorrow. That was a bit of disappointing news.

I wish they would announce some kind of vague schedule for worlds.

People really aren't excited.

There's barely any talk of it at all on the internet. I would say we are going to have a new world champion this year, but there doesn't seem to be anybody that cares.

If the TAB put odds on the Footbag champs, I would probably have a flutter on Honza this year. He looked really strong last year, and his Euros routine was great.

I think Honza has been really amazing these last few years, too, but he's not my bid. For some reason I feel like it's gonna be a North American footbag year, with Clavens and Moir and other US and Canadian power players competing. I kinda hope for Moir to win because I think he makes the most interesting shows but I know that actually works against him..

I guess Clavens would be the favourite now after Euros. I would probably place Boyle, D at approximate odds of 1000-1.

I'm intrigued though, it should be a good competition, but the field that has registered seems much slimmer than last year. I think it's about half at the moment.

I guess they just don't have that German efficiency.

At a vague guess the top 8 (if that's what finals turns out to be this year) will be something like

Clavens, Vasek, Milan, Penske, Damian, Honza, Jorden, Phil M

not sure if there coming this year, but then you still have players like

Juho, Anssi, Marcin, Norek, Nick Landes, Jay Boychuck, Bevier, Ken

then probably some young guys I've never heard of.

Wish more people would be speculating, just writing this out, it's made me more intrigued already.

What do you think about Johnny Suderman? I haven't seen much of his footage, but the little I did see blew me away. I don't know if he's competing, but if he is, I'd expect to see him in top 10.

Other than Juho, the other players you wrote have what it takes to be in 10 ten but imo aren't 1st place favorites.

If JM puts on an amazing show and loses because it's not technical enough I'll be pissed. I think technicality has too much weight in routines. It should be saved for circles.

Went to the gym today. Once again, slacked off, got to get back into it. Same old rubbish excuses.

Only had a short time today, but made good use of it. Lots of "core" exercises with short rest periods.

No Footbag today though.

My preparation for Worlds has not been at all thorough. In the scheme of Worlds though, I am an absolutely nobody, so it doesn't really matter.

It's not like I had a particularly professional lead up to my last Worlds experience though!

I did have a few days in Switzerland touring around with Flavio, I was playing really well that whole time, and the first day of Worlds. I have realised now, I am still aiming for the same sort of tricks I was trying this time last year.

It's pouring with rain here in Canberra, spending a couple of days down the coast starting tomorrow, that should be good. Bit worried about the weather though, may have to drive through snow to get there, and I really don't want to. So I may take a detour.

Anyhow, we'll be staying in the Merimbula and Narooma YHAs, hopefully the sun comes out and puts on a bit of a show for us.

16 days til I get on the plane.

That's pretty soon. Really soon actually. It's getting to the point where I'm getting quite excited.

I'm totally unprepared, but I was saying that about nationals and that turned out all right.

I'm just looking forward to meeting some more footbag players. Being involved in something so small, especially here in Australia, makes it awesome to just meet one other player every now and then, but a whole gathering like Worlds is pretty awesome.

Trip down the coast was quite pleasant. Definitely wasn't a rager or anything. We played Scrabble, I was victorious.

Finally had a serious session today. Weather was excellent, went through the routine a few times, it's not in top shape, but I can definitely do all the tricks in it. I have no expectations to do a dropless routine, but if I can hit it with 3-4 drops I would be fine with that.

It's all happening soon, just over 2 weeks and we'll be in business. Crazy. Did my tax return today, I'll be getting abotu $500 back, well timed as it said to expect it in two weeks.

Thank you once again government.

Two weeks and I'll be in San Francisco.

Today

4km run
10km cycle
30 mins Footbag (general shred, went to watch the Raiders game, was in between the junior match and the senior match). Was working on certain parts of my routine, and just general kicking as well. Was more doing it for something to do during the wait.

I wish I was doing more travel than just going to worlds, a trip like last year would be awesome. However, next year is going to be a massive year of travel, so I just need to come back and start saving like crazy.

Ahh I don't get notifications in email for replies for some reason!!
Continuing our previous conversation, I'd put my money on Clavens. Purely on basis of loving his game.
Just to be on topic, sounds like ur getting in crazy shape for worlds.
Cycling scares me. These chairs look like they'd be hampering my chances of distributing my genes.
