It looks like I missed the registration dealine for footbag.org. Anyway, I would like to register myself as a non-competitor, and will pay $40 up front at the registration desk. I wear a small tee.

No, Waylon, you didn't miss the deadline. It was a glitch. It's back up 'til midnight Pacific time tonight.

It'll lock at that point for all competitors.

Then after midnight, sometime tomorrow I'll re-open it without the competitive events, so people can register for non-competitor .. but I don't know if I'll have time to reopen it before my flight home (I'm in Atlanta now). So if not, it'll be the next day. We still need/want pre-registrations for non-competitors after the cut-off tonight for competitors.

Flight booked, but I need a place to stay for one night on Saturday, July 31st. Check-in for my room at the host hotel is at 3pm August 1st.

Mathieu Giard-Montpetit, where are you staying? I noticed you'll be arriving on Friday.

Here's my flight itinerary. I'll be arriving at the OAKland airport:

Arriving: Saturday evening 7/31 @ 9:50pm
Departing: Saturday evening 8/7 @ 10:55pm

I'll see you all there. Can't wait. Will try to have "some" bags for sale, but don't get your hopes up.

I'll do some touristy stuff with you, Johnny. I believe a non-footbag friend of mine in NYC will be visiting Oakland as well, and she'll love to take detours just to absorb the best out of both places.

Speaking of tourist stuff, I was actually going to see if anyone was interested in going to alcatraz one of the days. I already started to look into some pricing and such, and I think it would be a pretty cool place to see. I'd like to get a decent size group if possible. It'd probably be more fun that way

I haven't registered, but I will soon when I figure out some money stuff. I don't compete. Plus I just made a cross-country move and haven't unpacked a thing. Kind of a hectic time.

Trust me when I say -- the "beach" in northern California is nothing like the beach in Daytona.

One important message for all folks traveling to this area in the next couple of weeks: northern California beaches are cold in the summer. In fact, most of the coastline is cold -- hence Mark Twain's famous quote, "The coldest winter I ever spent, was a summer in San Francisco."

The ocean currents bring very cold water down from the arctic, which contrasts with extremely hot air inland (i.e., practically desert conditions in the center of the state), and the result is a wall of fog that moves in and out along the coast seemingly at random. But in the summer, that wall of fog is often a kilometer or so inland, blanketing the coastline with fog and blocking out the sun.

A rule of thumb in this area: it's hot in the sun, and cold in the shade. The temperature can drop 10 C in minutes if you go between a foggy area and a sunny area. The beaches are almost always foggy, but when they're sunny, they're nice.

But either way -- you cannot swim in the water without a wetsuit. Because of the aforementioned arctic current.

Now, Southern California beaches -- that's a different story!

P.S. This also means you should all bring at least a light wind-breaker and a couple of sweatshirts and/or light jackets. It can get quite cold here at night -- because the second the sun sets, the whole place gets cold (usually). Especially closer to the coast. It's usually around 0% humidity inland, so when it's hot, it's not that hot for people coming from areas with humidity. But it can go from 30C to 10C in a matter of 90 minutes -- so I really do recommend everyone is prepared and goes out with "layers" that they can peel off or put back on as it gets cold. You will go out on a day trip with nothing but the shorts and T-shirt on your back, and find yourself splurging on a jacket at a beachside hotel asking yourself, "why didn't I listen to Steve", yet again.

If you haven't already registered, you may now register as a non-competitor and pay after you submit your registration.

If on the other hand you'd pre-registered and missed the Sunday deadline, for entirely technical reasons (my software can't handle it) I don't allow you to change your registration in any way (which includes paying via paypal).

However, I had locked out all registrations for about an hour today while fixing up some stuff. It's now re-opened so if you are in the former case, go ahead now and register!

Again, this is only for people who are registering as non-competitors and who hadn't previously registered.

Finally, if you really want to pre-pay your non-competitor registration and are in the second bucket above (pre-registered by last Sunday night), I can give you a magic code to enable you to send a paypal payment and have it immediately mark you as paid so you won't have to worry about paying at check-in. Public Ticket Prices: Day Pass, $10 Adults, Child (3-12)free. Note: Event participants other than competitors (Parents, Girlfriend, friends) need to purchase their tickets through IFPA to be eligible for large week long discount.

Sorry, Tom, I still really have no idea what you're asking me.

The text clearly says that a ticket is $10 per day. I think you must (on reading it several times and contemplating in my precious tiny amount of free time -- thanks for making me do that!) be referring to the "discounted" fee if you register?

That should be obvious -- if you register as a "non-competitor" (as you should since you're an actual player and will presumably be shredding, playing 2-square, and generally getting value from coming to this event) for the US $40 fee, you get a player pack, all-access pass wrist-band, and T-shirt.

Obviously this comes out to a much better deal and also helps us out immensely since you're benefitting from the event in multiple ways.

Also, we need everyone who will actually be playing footbag for any appreciable time to be registered so they can sign the waiver and be officially part of the event. So I beg everyone to do this. In fact, if I spot people without wristbands playing in the convention center during the week, I'll kindly ask them to pay the $40 or leave.

Does it all make sense now?
