Well, for one, I said SOME dudes won't take you seriously as a freestyler... some not meaning everyone there guy. For one, I'll admit it, I tend to not take people seriously if they call themselves a freestyle footbag player and they don't have customized shoes in some way or another. And if they wanna be a freestyler and they have unmodded shoes, i'll either:habitat wrote:Ummm... no? Stop talking out yer ass so much there guy.Sick*Nick*Slick*Kick wrote:Some dudes won't even take you seriously as a freestyler if you DON'T have freestyle shoes in some way or another.
1) Ask them if they'd like me to customize an old pair of their shoes
2) Suggest to them to buy lavers if they wanna get serious with it after they try out the customized skate shoe/running shoe/whatever
So, that's what I meant by that. Habitat, you just really like to start shit on these threads. Let people have their own opinions. People like you are a serious wet blankets to the "helpful" and "awesome" aspect to modified. Everyone else seems to be really supportive of me, being an upcoming freestyler (and quickly getting a lot better), except for you and only you. So step off your high horse named Negative Nelly and show some love to the threads and people in them. I mean we all share the same hobby, obviously. We're like a family. Scatter the footbags... spread the unity.

Dude,
I want you to be a footbag player more than anyone I've ever wanted to join the footbag scene before.
Please reconsider. Get some lavers and learn some stalls, and please, god, dress like that when you play
seriously, though. You seem like a weirdo and a misfit (JUST LIKE ME), and you will never find a group of people more loving, supportive, and helpful to (kind, understanding, thoughtful, friendly) weirdo misfits than the footbag community.
It is because we are ALL weirdo misfits. We are weirdo misfits who like to spend time pursuing a largely thankless task for no other reason than because it looks cool and it's fun to do. Through playing it, we meet the best friends we may ever have, and exercise our creativity while getting a great workout which keeps us young and in shape as so many other people's bodies degrade.
Please reconsider joining our ranks, and further your travels down your ongoing path to awesomeness, which you are clearly on, demonstrated by your willingness to shamelessly laugh at yourself and make yourself funny to others at the expense of acting normal. Even though you're in what's become a "hostile environment", you're still willing to have a laugh at yourself. That is a beautiful thing to me, and something I am trying to do more in my life.
If you are anything like me, people have treated you like someone that they do not understand your whole life, and you are used to being surrounded by people who criticize and mock you for being different. I can tell by the way you have responded to people trying to offer you information that they really stand behind, but also info that you also happen to not agree with. I can tell only because it reminds me of ways that I used to respond to disagreement; "deflect and attack" instead of "consider and maybe integrate or maybe not".
Footbaggers are not like those other people. We are thoughtful and accepting and if you give use a chance and try out what we do, and you come with an open heart and an open ear, you will find no end to support, growth, friendship, and FUN in us.
Please consider.
Matt

I second what Zac said. Matt's totally right, when you think about it, we ARE all misfits and nerds, geeks over 9,000. Often misunderstood, and we just felt like "extreme hackysack" could be our thing. Beat up in school, some of us, picked on for being weird, others. But we found our own group of people who love what we love. In a way, most of us understand each other. So like I said, Zach Hoffa, my friend Tyler and I will hit you up sometime this week and we'll all have a sweet shred session and teach you a thing or two about freestyle.
Saying people don't understand me and criticize me for being different is the understatement of the century... Anyway, like I said earlier, I'm not gonna buy any shoes until I've tried them out first. Part of why I'm skeptical has to do with the fact that lavers(at least to me) look pretty damn much like skater shoes anyway. On top of that, most athletic shoes don't fit me for shit because my feet are wide and flat. They have a bulge inside the shoe to fit in the arch of your foot, and all that bulge ever does is cause me pain and discomfort. I usually have to buy shoes a size or two larger simply because of the width, and my feet never touch the tip of the shoe.mc wrote:Dude,

I think if you can't laugh at yourself, you shouldn't be laughing at anybody else either.
I'll play with my power glove and cape as long as the cape doesn't get in the way.

Zappos/endless shoes offers free shipping and free returns within 365 days. Just don't mod them but try them out. Plus i partial work with UPS so that means your giving more revenue to my current company by just trying them on!Magus86 wrote:Anyway, like I said earlier, I'm not gonna buy any shoes until I've tried them out first.
And Sick*Nick. I had someone say, hey that footbag stuff is pretty cool man, keep it up. I was thinking, what the hell did he just say????! REALLY! The bastard read my shirt.. xD
Yeah, about being weird.
Don't judge a book by its cover,
cause my story is just as fucked up as any other.

free shipping and free returns are nice, except that I still have to have the money to pay for the shoes in the first place, which I do not. Plus, I wouldn't know what size to get. I have no idea how they run or how they feel on my feet at all. And for some reason, my left foot is bigger than my right foot. I'm not spending money on something I haven't tried, end of story. I made that mistake with Twisted Metal 3, and I'm not gonna make it again. I learned my lesson.
