Blow has a negative denotation so I would prefer it if you used a different word.
Everything you have purchased since 1998 you have tried prior to the acquisition? At restaraunts you try the food before eating so you can make an informed decision? You mentioned an abshire bag before. Did you play with one before buying one? Why do you not trust the opinion of Vasek , Damian, Jorden? Many of the best players in the sport wear Lavers. At the very least you have a new pair of shoes that are comfortable.
Blow has a negative denotation so I would prefer it if you used a different word.
Geez dude you sound like the word police. Fuck I wish I had some blow right now!
I think this guy's concerns are legit.
1.) He ain't got no money for no stinking Lavers
2.) He ain't got no gas to travel to see no stinking Lavers
3.) He is off Fucking Off cause Zeb told him too, so now he can't experience Lavers cause he is currently busy.
4.) Barefoot works, so WTF right?
5.) He is just trying to make a point.
6.) He doesn't want advice from snobs, so if you are snobbish then bugger off, cause he ain't having it.
7.) I love lamp
8.) Neck beards are Yikes!
9.) Abshire makes the best bags
10.) Worlds is only 9 days away
I don't care if you like the term I've chosen to describe what I'd be doing with my money or not. If I don't like the purchase, the money is blown. How the hell do you know I'd find the shoes comfortable too? Are we all the same? I have a hell of a time finding comfortable shoes. I won't know they're comfortable until I wear them. No, I don't own an abshire bag, and I've never played with one. When I mentioned one, I was doing so to illustrate a point.
I already have a new pair of shoes that are comfortable: My Vans. I don't need another pair, and I don't know that the lavers would be comfortable. So unless they're actually worth all the hype, which I won't know until I try them, there's no point in me buying them... And all of this STILL doesn't address the fact that I don't have the damn money.
No, I don't try the food at a restaurant before I pay for it. They don't allow that. But At the same time, I don't go spend $50 or more at a restaurant in one shot either. No, I don't try ABSOLUTELY everything before I buy it, but I do whenever possible.
Just because a celebrity or pro athlete endorses something, that doesn't mean it's as good as they say it is. Do you go out and buy icy hot because Shaq says it's good? Do you wear Hanes underwear because Michael Jordan says it's good? I don't know who the hell Vasek is beyond the fact that he plays footbag, why would I trust his opinion?
Regardless of who he is, just because Vasek likes them doesn't mean I necessarily will. Haven't any of you ever heard of "to each his own," or "whatever floats your boat?" How about "the world don't move to the beat of just one drum. What might be right for you may not be right for some?" "Different strokes for different folks?"
Besides that, I don't know why you people keep insisting I just get the damn things over and over again. Do you also enjoy running into walls repeatedly, hoping they will move out of your way eventually, and you'll get where you want to go? If I'm such an arrogant dick/troll/whatever like I'm being labeled, why do you give a rat's ass what I do anyway, and why the fuck are you not satisfied with the fact that I've at least decided to try the goddamn things?

This is my last post in this topic. What were you hoping to get put of this topic? Did you want someonr to say "dude lavers make hit nemesis> nemesis> double spinning whirr> barraging ducking triple swirl" haha
The term that you used creates the illusion that if you buy lavers it is a waste of money.
You mentioned flat feet. I have flat feet. Lavers a some "foam" material towards the inside of the shoe. It is very easy to remove.
Money? You can find some pretty good deals! Go over to the for sale section and create a topic "wanted lavers size x" You might be' able to get somebodys old pair for cheap
Why cant this be one of the exceptions to your "rule" of "trying before buying"
Your 4th and 5th paragrapha are just dumb. Vasek is not paid by adidas like Michael Jordan is by hanes and Shaq by icy hot thus he has no reason to mislead me. (he didnt tell me to wear them but he won worlds in them i dont think he would wear an inferior shoe hoping people would follow in his wake makong it easie for him the next year haha)
Yes i do enjoy running into walls.(I know you will eventually try them... "curiosity killed the cat") How did you decide to try them? Where did you try them/Are you going to try them?
Oh and "Flex this" i thought nitpicking posts was encouraged in this topic
What was I expecting out of this thread, you ask? To have people answer my goddamn question like FlexThis answered it and NOT jump down my throat for asking in the first place or for not automatically agreeing, and also NOT try to shove the shoes down my fucking throat or call me retarded because I can't spend money I don't have.
Yeah... I could try looking for size X, but I DON'T KNOW WHAT SIZE I NEED UNTIL I TRY ON A PARTICULAR SIZE, SEE HOW THEY FIT, AND GO FROM THERE. I don't want an old pair of shoes anyway. And it's not a matter of HOW MUCH money they cost, but rather the fact that I don't have ANY money to spend on a pair of shoes that might not fit and might be uncomfortable to me. Vasek winning some footbag competition doesn't change any of that. Why can't this be the exception? Because I CAN'T spend money I don't have, and I don't feel like spending money on something for a specific purpose if it doesn't fit that purpose. And until I test the goddamn things, I don't know that they do. You can sit here and tell me they're good comfy footbag shoes all you want, and you can list all the footbag players who use them you want. It doesn't change anything, and you're not gonna change my mind. Obviously I haven't tried them yet, or I would have said either "Yes, these shoes are amazing, and I'm going to buy them," or "No, these shoes fucking suck. they're uncomfortable and suck for footbag, fuck these shoes." At some point in the future, I plan to try them either by hanging out with Slick Nick or Zach Hoffa and trying theirs, or by trying to go to some kind of sporting goods/shoe store, seeing if they have lavers, and trying them on, walking around in them, and kicking and stalling a footbag with them to see how I like them. I decided to try them when Slick Nick invited me to play footbag with him and try out his lavers.
Whether or not Vasek is paid by Adidas has NOTHING to do with whether or not the shoes will work well for me, just like how for all you know, Michael Jordan could honestly wear hanes and love them because they actually are comfortable to him, but that doesn't mean they'll be comfortable to me... Chances are, he just says it cuz they pay him to, but the point is still valid.
I have been magus the whole time. Trolled.. cya all at worlds.
Jk
Really though, may I point out from the picture that you showed, that normally people dont lace their shoes that way, except people who play with lavers to form toe boxes. So even though you refuse to conform the ways of modding in order to cheat at footbag, you failed.
Also, in magus's defense, he shows that he is from amish land. So I can agree that buying the shoes and ending up not liking them would be a big blow to his wallet. After all, how many cows do you have to milk and butters do you have to churn to be able to afford lavers?
...LOL, I didn't know I could fail at something I never tried in the first place. Do you see how short the ends of the laces are where they're tied? They're laced the way they are because the laces are too short to be laced thru all the holes, you dumbass. Congratulations!
A Swing, and a miss... Who's up to bat next? This shit is too funny.
Ah, an excellent point. You clearly have an idea what you're talking about because lots of amish people play footbag and videogames and have katanas and capes, and they ALWAYS wear a power glove. They also grow beards before marriage and are incredibly poor. That's why they pay cash for their prescriptions and don't have medical insurance. $300 for a bottle of pills is just chump change, right?
Come on, Jeff, you're 0 for 2. Who the hell taught you how to bat, your grandmother?

Also I dont appreciate being called a dumbass. Im sure other people can vouch for me on here, because as well as footbag I am an undefeated collegiate boxer, and I took 2nd in the North American Grapplers Association. Show some respect to the community man. These people are the coolest and nicest people I have ever met. I am going to worlds without even competing just because some of my best friends I have met through this sport. There is no need to bring this nonsense around
Don't be a dumbass, and I won't have to call you one. I'll show respect to the community when the community shows it back to me. This shit storm is what spawned from a simple question and a bit of skepticism... If that's what this community is like, then fuck the community, excluding the ones that didn't contribute to making this a mess.

GET LAVERS it is not that difficult geez. Sticky this please! Make it an anything goes topic

Why would you mention your physical prowess? In Getting Started forum? To a noob? From Amish land? Simply for reacting to yet another seemly innocent back handed comment? Cows and butter?
I sent him some shoes. He can report back his personal findings with zero risk to his obviously valuable (personally) pocket book.
I too am going to worlds, wife willing. And she'll be 40 on the 7th. It is a miracle I even talked her into the trip. As much shit as I give and take on this forum, it is well worth it just to get a glimpse of the talented mother fuckers in this sport. I wouldn't trade that for nothing. If a guy is willing to take 6 pages worth of shit over some Lavers, then he must have some inner spiritual reason for being here today. For that he gets some shoes and just maybe he will one day experience the enlightenment that is footbag freestyle.
mc wrote:hey dude, I say don't even bother with them. After all, you can play "JUST FINE" as it is, and clearly, because they need to be modded, they're not right for footbag anyway.
hell, I can bust montage barefoot. You don't even need shoes at all. Sometimes it feels like all these experienced players who have been doing this for years longer than you have no idea what they're talking about.
I think Matt derailed this topic back on page 1. Others followed suit. The guy doesn't know your sarcasim, and that is clear by his defense. I reached out to help an interested newbie.
I thought that's what Getting Started was all about. We should all be so selfless.

Oh my god Damon. This thread just won't quit delivering the goods!
Here's how this exact question has been answered dozens of times before, and could have been answered this time around:
"Why do you guys wear special shoes?"
"Good surfaces, light weight, blah blah blah."
"Thanks!"
Except this guy had to come in here with a chip on his shoulder. But I guess he's the victim here, oh poor baby.
