I don't know that he had a chimp, but I did see a lot of "Get em and see" answers which are not productive. Then some personal attacks on both sides (pun intended). Then a demanding of respect for the community.

I mean geez, the guy is brand new to this sport and asking legit questions. If I were new, I'd probably want to know why lightness matters AT ALL? You know? We are competitive in this sport, that translates to some strong personalities. I think the numbers are stacked against any newbie on this forum, but we shouldn't be trashing anyone in the Getting Started forum. Save that for another category, yeah?

The guy is from Amish land, so is Lonn Smith. Imagine what footbag would be like if you guys had booted his ass out of Getting Started?

But anyway, I think this topic is dead. He'll have some shoes soon enough and then we'll see if an attitude adjustment occurs.

Wow, I don't look at this topic for a couple days and it has grown 4 pages.

Honestly, this thread has gone on far too long. We are barely talking about lavers anymore, and this is turning into a war.

Someone should just back off, whether is is Magus or the rest of us. Why did we even have to talk about being a dumbass?

Magus, maybe if you showed respect to the community, then the community would show it back to you. This topic needs to end now.

What the fuck do you call saying someone is retarded for spending money he does not have? If you think that's an intelligent thing to say, then you yourself are retarded as well, and as far as respecting the community is concerned, like I said, I'll show respect when it's shown back to me. Telling me to go buy something that i don't have money for doesn't help me, and calling me retarded isn't respectful no matter what the reason is, especially when it's an invalid reason. Like practically every other poster, my first post was answering your question about why I choose to play in them, and then put a stop to what was already becoming a pissing match. Zac was completely honest with you even if you don't like what he said. Ian Cozen was incredibly nice and patient with you even after you started throwing insults around. Matt's first post was sarcastic, but then he was incredibly nice to you. And on and on. And Nick! How many times did Nick reach out to you? You were shown respect at the beginning and people gave you honest opinions and you thought you knew better so argued your way into this, and you started throwing the insults around.

In every case I can think of, you were the first to call someone else a name. You called me retarded, then whined like half a dozen times that you got called retarded. Maybe Habitat was an exception - but that's it. You're 24? Act like it. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

You owe a lot of people an apology and you need to watch your tone when you post. You think this is ten times worse than the rest of the internet? Why don't you take a couple weeks to cool out, lurk and pick up on how this forum generally works?

You see, most of us know each other in actual life (and if we don't, we're at most like two degrees of separation from each other) and I think you don't realize that. We've put together jams for no reason except to meet other freestylers & spend time with our friends & have fun. We've opened up our homes to each other and we've been greatly rewarded. Its an incredibly community, mostly, and we don't appreciate people with shitty attitudes trashing it.

I'll be stunned if you can write a response without another insult. I'll be even more stunned if, instead of demanding the thread gets locked, you show a little restraint and just stop. You have the power to stop this if you stop insulting everyone.

Okay, fine. No insults... But I have a question for you. How do you figure that not having the money required to buy something is a "pathetic excuse" not to buy it? I have about $4.00 in my checking account at the moment because I just paid my student loan for the month. I can't buy lavers with $4.00, at least not as far as I'm aware of.

I don't think I know better. I'm simply skeptical. Skepticism=/=thinking one knows better. At no point did I say my Vans were better. All I said is that I'm happy with the way I play in them. I don't just believe everything I'm told. I I want to try things before I buy them if possible, especially a pair of shoes. Why is that such a difficult concept to understand, and how is that stupid? Just because it's not what you do doesn't mean it's stupid. Do you honestly not try on shoes or clothes before you buy them? Regardless, until I have money to buy them, I can't.

No, but just because someone else is cold doesn't mean I am necessarily. I wear a coat when I'M cold, not when someone else is and tells me I need one. And I've been known to wear shorts when it's 20 degrees out.

You know, I was wondering wtf was up with those posts that just said "I don't need no stinkin lavers," and "my stinkin lavers" I have no idea why, but the video doesn't show up in the thread for me. But when I click on "view all posts by FlexThis," it shows me exactly what you typed in each post, and from that I can copy the URL to watch the video... Weird.

Oh by the way, I like the rain. I like when it's hotter than hell out and a big monsoon-like rainstorm comes to cool me off. It's very refreshing. I'd rather not deal with it being hotter than hell in the first place, but if the same rainstorm occurred when it was cold, it wouldn't be quite as pleasurable.

That is weird. I made a few quick videos with my iPhone. The first in vans. The second in my lavers.

I could probably session in my vans, but I would also be frustrated after about 20 minutes. Being heavier (6' 1" 220) I just want to relax and flow. Vans require attention to detail in order to nail a trick. My lavers are like duh huh easy.

I posted my vans to prove your point. And posted my lavers to prove theirs. Win/win!

I never told you to buy them. I certainly never told you to buy them now. If you try them and like them, and can buy them later, great! If not, fine. I think one of the fundamental problems is you are thinking people are shoving them down your throat, and I think you are misinterpreting that.

Starting a thread asking why people swear by lavers is fine, its been done countless times. Disregarding the answers you get looks an awful lot like trolling. And that is basically what provoked this. Here are your exact words:

I really don't see a lot of people telling you to buy them. I actually see a lot of people saying "hey if you're happy with where you're at, that's cool." The fact that it took like 50 posts for you to agree to try them doesn't help your cause.

I can't say I particularly care if you appreciate being told not to post here or not, at least at the moment. If you continue to post the way you've posted in this thread you won't be welcome - not just on modified, but even in actual events, if you ever decide you want to go to one.
