Had a session today. I decided to take a short siesta due to all of the furious training and because of the work I've been doing in the morning.
I wasn't going to shred today, but I got to watching some footbag vids on vimeo and it got me in the mood.
Highlight's'
Pdx Torque b2b (First time) > a run with Duck Clip, Blur, Side and Step Mirage bsos
Blurry Whirl > Ps Whirl bs, good looks at both. I haven't been able to hit ps whirl since I was up in Boise
Blurry Rev Whirl > Ps Rev Whirl bs, good look at these too
Gyro Swirl (non symple) > Osis > Far Swirl > Swirl
Slapping Butter > Rip > Spin Osis > Gyro Illusion, fun combo at the end
Slapping Illusion, some good looks at this
Atom x3, two different times
That's all I can remember. It was a good session for being under an hour long. I started to get really hot towards the end, so when I hit Pdx Torque b2b, I decided to quit there.
No video for all of this. Decided to just have fun.

Had a good session today. I airbrushed my Lavers, and they look good! I'll post pics later.
For only having a 25 - 30 min session, I had fun and hit some good combos.
Highlight's:
Whirr bs
Flip Whirr > tripless run trying to set myself up to hit strong Whirr, failed though
Smear > Parkwalk > Duck Butter > Duck Butter > Spin Osis > Pdx Whirl > Pdx Whirl
Footed Pigbeater
Toe Whirl > Pdx Whirl > Duck Clip > Spin Osis > Blur bs
Footed Flip Ripped Warrior
Strong Ripped Warrior
Little Apple bs
Had a couple good looks at Inspinning Clip on bs, starting from clip. I know I've hit this before on one side.
That's all. I might kick again tomorrow.

So it's been awhile since I've posted or kicked.
I kicked once in my airbrushed lavers and then quit due to work. I got an email from a guy that's a block away that's getting into footbag and want's to get together and kick. Ever since that email, last saturday, I've been itching to kick. A couple weeks back I got my Q03's back from Mike J. It was fun to see him and to talk with him again. Last time we talked was the Phoenix Open when he dropped me off at home that Mon.
Getting onto footbag news. I've been barefoot shredding some the past couple days after I've gotten home from work. The one good thing from it is that I hit both Phoenix and Assassin barefoot. Too bad I can't hit them in shoes. But today I decided to have a mini session. Only about 20 min's total, but it felt good to lace up the Q03's and kick a bag.
Highlight's:
Blurry Whirl b2b starting on both sides
Pixie Ss Whirl > run
Pixie Whirl > Run
Fairy Ss Whirl > Run
Fairy Whirl > Run
Tap bsos
Fairy Ss Mirage bs (flip was first try and I might've been able to duck it)
Flip Ripped Warrior, couldn't hit strong. Rushing it too much
Mobius bs
Footed Mobius > PS Whirl
Footed Flip PS Whirl
Ripwalk x5, that's all I could do. I'm extremely disappointed with myself for that
Muted Side and Step Ss Clip b2b, I do the set and only plant the setting foot
Tried Pixie Flux.....it can be done, for me that is
Kicking with a dislocated toe is really fun. The sweet thing is that I didn't feel it once I warmed up. The flip PS Whirls didn't bother it at all.
Well I might kick again tomorrow or wait and see about kicking with the new guys this weekend. Too bad I'm gonna be out of shape, maybe I won't scare them now LOL

Sorry for not having any new vids up. I'm getting back into shape, and once I am I will start posting more vids.

Re: Josh M's Blog, Slowly getting into the habit again!
All right, long time no write or browse here on modified. The last time I posted here was probably the last time that I have kicked. I might have kicked once or twice since then. Upon hearing that Worlds is on this side of the world I may come out of "retirement" and start training to see if I can get anywhere close to where I was before I stopped. If I am able to keep up with a training regimen I think I could probably get back to where I was. Though everything will be lacking, ESPECIALLY stamina.
Well, it is good to be "back," so to speak. Hopefully I can start planning out a training regimen soon so I can start getting back into footbag shape. Who knows, I may start making bags again as well. I have plenty of facile and filler left.
Laterz.

Re: Josh M. coming out of retirement!?!?
Good to see you on here again! Hope all is well, and good luck getting back into game shape. Think you might make it to Worlds this summer? Montreal is pretty awesome. I'll let you know if I'm back in Tucson at any point. Happy new year, and welcome back!

Re: Josh M. coming out of retirement!?!?
Ken, I am going to try and see if I can make it to Montreal for Worlds. Hopefully I can get back into decent shape again.
Erik, great to see you are still around and kicking. I've watched a couple of your vids on youtube and it looks like you are doing good as always.
Mike, one of these days man, one of these days.
After re-reading most of my blog, and watching most of my youtube vids I have come to the conclusion that I have a long way to go. But, that is what is going to make this fun. Found my old main shred bag and realized that even after a wash, it will probably need to be replaced relatively soon. So I have started stitching a bag. So far it looks like I have not lost my touch with a needle and thread. This bag will probably go to one of the guys here in AZ as Conrad and Kendall have both asked for a new bag. So whoever would like it will get it. I will start another bag right after this one, 2 panels to go, pics will be posted when done, and I will be bringing back a classic, half black half white. It is the combo of the bag that is in most of my vids as it was the best bag that I had made at the time, and it also survived 2 successful repairs, sadly the 3rd killed it. My thinking about using a new bag is that I will need to concentrate more on my form and where I am catching the bag without really needing to rely on my crank, which is still there.
I have started to think about a good 2 - 3 week training regimen to, hopefully, get my legs and muscle memory back into shape. I will start with working stalls and downtime components, mirages, illusions, butterflys/infinities, swirls/rev swirls and within those couple of weeks move to drifters, torques, whirls/rev whirls and ducking/diving etc. Once I get my downtime game back I will slowly start working uptime. Right now I do not know how I am going to start uptime, whether I will start working the sets that I use to use all the time, stepping, fairy, atomic, quantum, or if I will just take 2 components a week and drill them, for example pixie/fairy one week, atomic/quantum next, stepping/nuclear after. Who knows. I don't want to push myself too hard too quick, as it has been 2 years since I have really played. Maybe after a month I may just play for fun like I use to and see how well everything falls into place.
Till I finish this bag, laterz
Josh

Re: Josh M. coming out of retirement!?!?
Been sick the past week so I haven't been able to start working on everything like I had planned. I'm still a little under the weather right now but I may see about a session in the morning after work. Hopefully I will have the energy to do so.
In footbag news, I have one more panel to go on my new half n half bag which I am excited for. Will post pics when it is done.

Yeah, there's 3 other guys here in AZ that play once a month or so. I'm hoping to start joining in on the sessions when they have them.

Re: Josh M. coming out of retirement!?!?
Had my first session today. After watching a couple of Aleksi's videos I decided to warm up and have a go at it. It was only for 30 minutes, but damn am I out of shape. I know I said that I was going to take my time, but I decided to push it a little and see what my muscle memory could remember.
Ripwalk bsos

Fairy ss Whirl
Whirl bs
Ducking Clip bs
Symp Whirl
Swirl bsos
Rev Swirl bs
Osis > Swirl > Osis > Swirl

The one "run" I had was about 10 contacts, it included both ripwalk and ducking clip bsos, plus bop. I need to find a better place to play than inside like I use to. Wood floors make it a bit slippery to play, so I might start playing out in the garage again, once it starts warming up here in AZ.

Drill session.
Mirage x10 bs
Illusion x5 bs, felt rushed
Toe SS Mirage x10
Toe SS Illusion x4
Clip set SS Mirage x8 bs
Blender bs
Osis bs
Tap bs
*EDIT*
Toe Drifter bs
Drifter bs
Toe Torque bs
Torque bs
*END EDIT*
I know one thing, I am definitely out of shape. I was out of breath just doing the first mirage x10. The the illusions killed me even more. Once it starts warming up here I'll start kicking out in the garage which has a better surface to kick on. It surprised me how easy mirage were and how much more energy illusions take. I'm glad that Tap didn't take me very long to get on both sides. If anything, that will be the first set I really start working on again. Next week I'm gonna go start the process to get my passport. My legs are feeling great even after these two sessions and doing something that I haven't done in a couple of years. So I think Worlds is definitely going to be a big possibility.

Re: Josh M. coming out of retirement!?!?
Been thinking about what direction I would like my game to go this time around, and I have also been thinking about the last time I kicked with Big Add Chad. I would love to have my game to be a lot like Chad's, stepping, whirls, atomics, double downs, ducks, dives, torques, drifters and spins. Before my hiatus I was getting a decent toe game, but I think the only thing I'll be able to recover will be my atomics. I might be able to get my strong fairy back, and if I'm lucky maybe quantums. But I would like to just have fun and get my string length up and variety with those concepts back. On another note, haven't kicked since my last post. Been busy with work and other stuff. I plan on kicking at least once this week, if not more. I might see if the crew can get together for a mid-week session. My quantums are really tight on one foot and my lavers seem to be just about right. It sucks about the quantums though, they were my favorite shoe to kick in since I got them and now I get to break in a basically new pair of lavers that I have had modded and kicked in before my break. Ohh well. Honestly I wouldn't mind finding another pair of goonits, but it looks like they are even more rare now then when I was kicking. Until next time.
