Hey guys, sorry if this question has already been answered, but I couldnt find it. Anyways like the title says, my problem is that the inner part of the eyelets have left black stuff all over the tongue and toe area directly under the eyelets. When i tie my shoes normally, it is unnoticable, but when i do a toebox mod you can see it and it looks kinda gross. Im wondering if anyone else has had this issue and how they solved it (washing machine, scrub with soap, etc.) Thanks.
Dude, it happened to me and some friend too, but we don't really care. You can't keep 'em fresh forever. Those things are supposed to get dirty. The more you play, the dirtier they're gonna get. If you really don't like it, then I'd try just throwing them into the washer. That would probably take the stain off.
Either throw them in the wash and use stain remover or scrub em by hand in a tub of bleach water. Takes the stains right off. If you leave them in bright sun after washing they get a little sun bleached and look almost new.
Thanks for all the advice! Ill probably just hand scrub em with bleach, i feel like putting them in the wash might damage them ( or the machine) in some way. If not feel free to correct me.
It wont damage the wash, but sometimes it will rip up your laces or take out the metal from a few eyelets. If you throw a few big rag towels in there with them they will be fine.
i've seen sergey post a few other times encouraging people to remove their eyelets. if you don't want to do that though, i've had great luck cleaning scuffs and grime off of some surfaces of my lavers using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
