worlds 2011
That was a joke. That will never happen.
Here is a more likely venue:

i personally would like to see worlds in nyc. if people don't take initiative now then steve and chris will pull off another amazing worlds in cali again, which is fine by me, but i would really like to go to nyc.
what do you think about a las vegas worlds? the city makeup has potential for great exposure and good hotel/restaurant selection etc. the only major drawbacks would be that minors would likely not have as much fun, and the scene here is dwindling. i think with some cali help it would be possible.
not saying we have the current capacity to host worlds without help, but if nobody else wants to do it, then las vegas may be an option.

there aren't any net players in vegas that i know of, but its a possibility i guess. not sure if i would have enough time to do it all myself, but if people would help me out with it, then it would be possible. however, it is in the same part of the world as oakland... so i'm not sure that people would be open to the idea
tickets to vegas are quite cheap most of the time. i think the casinos supplement the airport's income to encourage travel and lower ticket costs, but that's just my guess.

I'm just pulling this idea out of my shorts, but how about Portland, Oregon?
I mean, you theoretically would have the US Open happening the weekend before the week of Worlds, and the potential idea of having two weeks dedicated for footbag is a pretty cool itinerary for would-be attendees.
An expensive itinerary I bet, but a pretty cool itinerary.

Asking an unpaid staff to run two of the biggest tournaments of the year back to back, with the second one being Worlds? Think about that for a second. Beyond being exhausting for the competitors, this would be impossible for the staff. If Portland is gracious enough to host Worlds, then expect USO to either not happen that year, or for somebody else to take over USO somewhere else.
How 'bout this crazy scenario that will never happen.
1. All Americans and Canadians fly to Ny for NYFA jam
2. Shortly after it gets serious and the US open is held in NY! (the unofficial capital of the USA) Hold on Europe!!!
3. After the Americas have had their fun they cross the Atlantic for the Polish Championships.
4. With a little restructuring all those at the Polish Champs can stay for... Euros!!!(in poland)
5. The whole footbag world moves to its new European destination (helsinki) for the Finnish championships.
6. After the finnish champ is crowned. Worlds begins!
It will never happen...but it would be awesome.
Edit: It is actually a really cool idea because before each big event there is a small event so the big name can practice something they would actually try at Worlds. Think about! Six awesome events.

I have one request going to the organizers of worlds 2011:
PLEASE, if possible, schedule worlds for after the 6th of August. I only have two days of work in August, and they usually are before the 7th. I know this request is selfish, but not being able to go last year because of work, and the fact that I love worlds and really want to go next year should let you see where I am coming from.
Thank you.

Milan,
I think that is a really interesting point.
I agree with you, however it has been raised on the Japanese forum that a footbag tournament and spectators are more or less unrelated. It was said that if promotion or exploitation of the sport is to happen, that it can happen outside of tourneys, like as a "formal" session where the goal is to promote the sport, not decide who is the best.
How do you feel about that Milan? (or anyone else)
