Thanks guys.
I played with Dave yesterday. I think we both did alright, but there was definitely a "getting back into the swing of things" feel to the sesh. Hopefully if we keep playing regularly that'll go away. Don't really remeber any specific highlights.
I was writing some stuff for class today (I write an awful lot now with a journalism/poli sci courseload and working for my college paper) and after looking through 'My Docs' I ended up reading over my high school senior speech which focused pretty heavily on footbag. I thought someone might like to read it.
It sounds weird to hear myself say this, but if there's one thing I've learned in my high school years, it's this—in a large number of situations and circumstances, I'm perfectly okay with being mediocre. At first glance, this realization counters just about everything my teachers have ever told me.
“Try your best.â€

Thanks, guys.
I played with Dave again last night--I'm glad that our plan to play every week has worked out so far.
The only highlight I remember is Blurry Whirling Swirl and Stepping Whirling Swirl bsos in the same run (that's from Dave).
School is going well, and I have gotten good exam grades so far. I'm really enjoying my Islamic studies class, and I'm thinking about taking some Arabic classes to go along with it. I'm still undecided on my major, but I think that Journalism/International Economy would be cool, esp. if I focused on the Middle East.
Even when I'm not studying I find myself just sitting in my room mostly reading. I need to get out a bit more I think.
Bags still for sale--check the sig.

Hey Nate,
Glad to see you're still at it, even if just at a mediocre level!
I think I'm at same place, I just like learning new tricks and I kinda ran out of new footbag tricks to hit, but it still feels sweet to play!
I am trying to make it to GRASS, will you be there?

My hope is that I will indeed be at GRASS, and if I buckle down I may have some bags to sell in tow as well. I had a few bad weeks in terms of school during March, so I need to get my ass in gear till the end of the semester to get the GPA I want. Hopefully this won't interfere too much with my plans to get up to Rochester.
Dave and I played late... Saturday night I think. It was a good 1.5 hour session, half shred/half drilling. Good times. He hit a lot of shit, nothing is coming to mind right now though.
I hit bl wrl>bl drft rpt which I have wanted to hit forever. It might even be my first 5>5 drill? It also made me think that some other big drills that were previously out of reach might not be soon. Here's some ones I want to hit
bl drft>pdx torque rpt
st ss wrl>bl wrl rpt
ps wrl>symp wrl rpt
Working at the Collegian (Penn State newspaper) so much has made me realize how awesome it would be if I could combine journalism with my love of footbag. A professional level blog would be the coolest I think, just breaking tourney results, posting vids, interviews, etc. The scene is way too small to support that kind of thing though. Sucks. I might try it out anyway just to get a feel for how to create a workable/simple design for a blog with mutlimedia shit anyway, even if no one will read it.
Just some thoughts.

Great seeing you over the weekend and hanging out. I'm excited about the video project too.

I think plenty of people would read it, it just needs to be updated regularly. I think having a really well designed blog would get people from outside the sport reading it as well.
With results and things, there's pretty much a tournament *somewhere* in the world each 1-2 weeks, so there's plenty of news there.
I would read it for sure.

Hahahahah, Dan, I laughed out loud (at myself) reading your post and then realizing I haven't even updated THIS blog since I wrote that I wanted to start another one...
Sigh.. life gets in the way of footbag.
Anyway, I went to Funtastiks this weekend and had a great time. It was the last one ever as I'm sure many realize, so it was a very bittersweet occasion, since Funtastiks was also the first tournament I ever went to 7 years ago, the first one I competed at 6 years ago. and the one I have been to most often.
At the tournament, I had a lot of fun hanging out with my roommates Ian, Jay and Doug (funniest moment of the weekend, Doug, thanks for reminding me) and lots of other people.
Ken, thanks for taking the time to film my routine and our video project, I can't wait to see when it's done. I had a great time shooting the clips.
Also, since for the first time in a while, I both am enjoying stitching footbags and do not have another job, I want to say that I am accepting orders for all sorts and types of footbags:
Amaretta, Facile, and Hybrid 32 and 14 panels! (like the 14 panel David C. used to win routines at Funtastiks!
)
edit: sessions highlites for my records
32 ripwalks
blurry whirl>blurry drifter>rpt
tomahawk bs
mobius bs
rubberman with smear>fear after the blurs

Updates:
1) Really, really want to go to Kickass this weekend. The fact that I could pick up some people who need rides on the way just makes it more tempting. We shall see, we shall see.
2) My blog project is coming along well now that I've sat down for a few hours and working out a template for how it will look on WordPress. I think I basically want to substitute this for my former desire to make a footbag magazine, so expect a lot of features and the ilk when it all starts to happen.
3) On the same note, I'm brainstorming content now, and am looking for some contributors to the site. So some of you might be getting PM's or whatever, and if not let me know if you're interested. I'll obviously also ppreciate any feedback -- in terms of general content you'd like to see or specific ideas for articles/posts. Will probably make a post elsewhere on modified about this soon.
4) Getting behind on schoolwork and footbags promised to be stitched.
