Had a 3 hours session. 50% alone, 50% with Sebastien.

It was a good one overall. I mainly played. I like the way my game is taking. I feel much more in control then before. I don't rush my stall anymore. I still don't have a crazy variety, but it's better. I feel that i will keep to get better for the whole year. Good for the motivation.

I always enjoy to play with Sebastien. He is such a cool guy! And he still play very well. I hope he will continue to play forever!

I hit few things :

-Stepping far mixer - open down - rpt. within 3 tryes.
-Open ducking mixer. Probably my first toe to toe 5?
-More then 30 contact of a 40 contact open drill :) I hope to get that one soon!

I guess there are few more things, but that doesn't really matter.

OH, and take a look at the video i made. I think you might like it :

2 hours solo session.

Worked ahrd on spinning clipper. I fied few more things on flip side, it feel better, especially for spinning far mirage. But there is still something wrong with it. I'm late on the gyro move on flip side. I will film tomorow to find what is going on :).

-Spinning ducking osis. Much easier than i expected.
-blurry whirl - huge step... much higher then waist. It's interresting because i haven't drill my whirls now. But they feel pretty good :) I like that!
-toe far barrage. I doubt it was clean, but i was surprise i could hit that one. Or almost hit it... Tried like 5 times.
-Diving osis b2b. Much harder then i expected.
-Few drills like : Stepping same switch - Open same down - Sidewalk - rip walk -rpt. 2nd try... I think my stepping and my open set are dialled now.
Spent sometime trying Phoenix-Fog-RPT. It's hard, but not that hard... Definitly possible.

-=September 19th 2010=- (2nd session of the day)

Had an other 2 hour session.

Just have fun with 5's.

Few days ago i hit phoenix- far mirage - rpt.

Today i decide to give a try to :
phoenix - blur - rpt.
It was a bit ahrder, but i did it in a decent time....

The i was talking to Connor on facebook. And i just said : you know, i feel phoenix-fog-rpt is possible within 2 week. I get 3 contacts first try ... Including flip fog and flip phoenix lol... I kept trying for a while, but i didn't get the whole combo. I was playing for like 4 hour today? something like that :). But it was a cool night trying this combo!

I also hit : Open drifter-Mixer-rpt first try. Felt good.

See you soon at Kickass guys!

1 hour and half session with a friend.

It was awsome this morning. Had a 2 man session with one of my friend who started to play recently. It's awsome. He can hit toe stall, clipper stall, mirage, switch. Few moves like that. I showed him few moves and concepts. Had good time.

On my side i just played for fun, to make sure i was feeling good for kickass. I hit few cool links and move :

-Blurry whirl b2b. Easier then before.
-Blurry whirl - FOG
-Symp mixer. Much easier then the last time i tried that... like 1 year and half ago haha.

Kickass tomorow :D Oh yah! It will be awsome! Can'T wait to see Greg and Dante again!

Awsome Jeff! You'll be able to trhow me few challenges there ;). And keep track of my progress. You are definitly one of those i like to talk about footbag with!

-=Kick ass 2010 mini write up=-

Get there really early on friday, like around 1PM. Went directly at Dante's place! I was SOOOOO happy to see Dante again. I seriously feel that he is the footager i'm the most close with... He is kind of a footbag brother for me. So yah, we played bit of Smash bross, chatted, walked in the town. Kingston is a beatiful city. Later that night we went to see greg and cut the sole of dante. He found a nick name for me : Mat ''sole cutter'' Giard. I'm a super sole specialist now haha! Then John came! I'm glad i had time to meet him. So a smiley guy. Super calm. Nice to hang out with! Then we had a sesison. It was me, Dante and Greg. Greg got better since worlds. I like the look of his drifter! They look awsome now! Dante wasn't so much on fire. He had new insole and he was tired. But it's always a blast to play with Dante. On my side i was on fire... I wasn't expecting to play that well. By far my best session of the weekend. On of my best ever. I was glad my hard training show results. Then we get back at dante's place, where all the FAt crew came! It was cool to put faces on modified name ;). There are so many players int the toronto area, it's weird that there is no jam there... Whenever they do one, i'll be there. Then we get at Greg place, where people get few beers and good chat. I like how small kingston is.. You can get basically everywhere by walking!

Saturday morning we walked way too much! We walked like 20 minutes to get to a bakery But it was full, so we walked another 20 minutes to get back at the Cafeteria of Queen university. It was 10$, all you can eat. I had a super huge breakfast.. Maybe too big haha. Then we went at the gym! An awsome location. Really warm, but pretty sweet! Thx to Dante for dealing with that! My legs were definitly feeling all the walk of the morning and the shred of friday. So i just sit down for a while before to warm up. Once i started to play i was feeling ok, not more. Then Greg me and Dante decided to run the circle contest. We had 12 registration, wich was perfect because johny had a bye for final. So 3 circle was perfect. We had hard time figuring out the seeding. Adam get the first seed, Eric second and i had 3rd. It was close between Me, Greg and Dante for 3rd seed... So in my pool i had Greg, wich was funny because we were kinda joking about the fact he would kill me in circle the day before. When Greg is on, he can destroy. Seriously... Ducking whirl, spinning blender, pdx blender. All those shit... Then we started the circle. Adam and Erik won their circle. I didn't saw much of it because i was busy to stay warm haha. Then our turn come. Our circle was ME, greg, John and Cassy. Let's talk about Cassy. wtf? She can go ripstein both side O.o. I was soooo impressed by that move.. Like how many girls can hit that?!? His game look good. I hope she keep play! She could become one of the best, for sure. She is so cool too! John asn't play for like a year. So he was in his best shape. He is so cool, i'm sure Dante and Greg would be more then happy to play with him more often! So we did that circle. We all did ok. I guess we could have played better. I won it, and i was happy to make it to final. I'm getting more confident then before in circle contest. I know how i should play it now... :). I like that comp. Then the casual shred keep going on. Guess what... I had my first session with Nick Laroche. You guys should know that both Nick and I live in the same city : Montreal... I keep calling him every week since 6 month to kick with him, but we never managed to have a session. So we had our first session togehter .... in kingston puhaha! Was cool to kcik with him. I really hope he get back in shape to destroy my face :). Please Nick! I kicked with James too. He is more consistent then before, i'm glad about that. He still has the best still in montreal, for sure! Then we all get to the poutinerie for the dinner. Wtf... poutine in kingston? That meal used to be only in quebec few years ago. Now we can find poutine everywhere! It was a pretty good one! After the we get at Greg's palce again where people drink, smoke, and enjoyed life! I'ts always awsome to talk we other footbager at jams! We learn so much. That was also the ''home coming'' of queen's university. It's kinda thi bigeest party of the year in kingston, where everybody get drunk in the street ! But there was like SOOOO MANY COPS! We saw a bus come from tornto, full of cops. So they basically locked the whole area. We didn't manage to get in. It was still crazy to see so many cops... Way to much lol! So we get back at Dante's place for sleeping.

Sunday morning, we get directly at Greg's place. Emily, the Jame's girlfriend, made a HUGE breakfast for everybody. Like for 20 person. Emily is awsome, thx to her for that! James, you are a lucky boy :). It was a good way to start the day before the shred! We also watched few footbag videos : Johny's videos, the worlds video of Sam, a Jorden video. It was a good way to be ready for a good day! So Dante and Greg ahd no room reserved for that day. So we ust played in the hall of the university. But it wass too small and too hot, so we found and empty room where we could open the window. This is where we held final circle. Tha damn Johny didn't want to compet! I tried to brag him in the circle, but there was nothing to do. So it was Erik Chan, Adam Greenwood, me and Dante who took the spot of johny. It was weird. Greg decided their wouldn't be any judge. So we just did the circle. I feel we all played under our level... But it was still really fun; a good exprience! We all had like 1 or 2 good strings... Then greg took a sheet of paper and asked everybody in the room to judge. Results : Me and Erik tied for 1st place, one point ahed Adam... I was really surprised about the results. I feel that Adam played better then I... Anyway, we did that tie break. I was going first, as Erik had an higher seed then I. He beat me. Props Erik, you are so good. Plus you are so nice... I would really love to live close to your house and play with you everyday. Would be awsome! After that few people played, but most of the people where just tired. Johnny played .. He is soo good. PLz Johny, just show up at USO or worlds to get into BAP... It's ridiculous you're ot into BAP. You kill it dude! Thx for the kind word about my game! This is pretty much it, people said bye bye and went back home.

The jam was awsome. I had a really good weekend. Thatnks so much to Dante and Greg for running the whole thing! I can't wait to see you again guys. Our session are always so awsome! Kingston is awsome, and you are awsome. I'm thinking about getting there for few months next year. I'll be done with school, so maybe enojying life there before i start my career could be cool! Who know :).

2 hour solo session

I'm still pumped from Kickass. It was such a good week end with so many cool people! I was pumped to play! So i did a 2 hours solo session. Went prety well. I sepnt most of the session on spinning cliper BS. No so many highlight, but i just enjoyed to play. Later that night Sebastien called me to play hockey with him. So i did 2 hours of footbag + a hockey game. Was awsome!

-=September 28th 2010=-

1 hours solo session.

Today i had class until 9 PM. I get back home at 10. Decide to do a 1hour session! I have class tomorow morning at 9 AM hahaha. I'm still working on spinning clipper. I feel i'll be done with that move soon. My flip side is getting close to my strong one! I managed to hit blurry whirl - spinning cliper BS. Within 3 tryes on each side. Not so hard, but i had never tried that. I'll have to keep my clipper stall closer to me after blurry whirl, it will be even easier. I guess tomorow will be a day off. I have been playing for 6 days in a row, including a 3 day jam. My legs don'T feel that bad, but i guess that break will be good :).

Talk to you soon guys ans girls!

So yah, i get a cold last week. Took few days off! I had 2 sessions in the previous 2 days. They were prety bad. I guess i was still feeling a bit sick haha! Anyway, i guess we all need to have few bad session to enjoy even more the good one! So i'll not do post for each of them!

Today i had a session with James, Alex-André and ................. Nick. Yah, you heard right! Nick! It was pretty cool! We played in a super small room in UQAM haha. Was cool! Nick still know and to trhow sexy link! I hope he'll keep playing this winter. I'd like to see him at the top of his game. I mean, i saw comme video where he was throwing hardcore stuff.... Watch that and you'll know what i mean haha :
http://www.fourkast.com/media/videos/ar ... the-horror

What to say about James? He style is bad ass! And his consistency is getting much better then before. I feel that if he playes all the winter, he will be crazy. Keep it up James, always awsome to shred with you!

On my side i played ok. I get 2 contact away from ''open everything'' drill again. In 2 tryes... I did 10 + drifter b2b, 10 rip walk b2b, 10 ducking clipper b2b. I did nuclear pdx mirage within 10 tryes. I'm not good at nuclear, but i feel i could get them pretty well if i put sometime on them! Also, blurry whirl-spinning whirl BS Within 3 tryes each side. I feel good, i feel a bit like Clavens in his 'Cleaver'' session :
http://www.fourkast.com/media/videos/ar ... ns-cleaver
But yah, i'm still far away fromthat level. But once in a while a feel a bit like that haha! Gotta keep to work hard!

Can't wait for the next session with Slick Nick and Evil James.

Lot's of fun kicking with you Mathieu, I'm pumped for our next session! I'm sorry you can't make the Thursday jam but we'll see each other soon enough. It's cool to see how pumped you we're for shred. Haha at one point, me and Alex had finished and he looks at us, all serious-like, and says, "Wow it's REALLY hard to warm up in a four man circle!"

Watch out for Mathieu, world; he's one quick little sunavubitxh 8O

2 hour solo session at university.

Ducking far whirl BS. LEss then 3 tryes each side.
Pdx whirl x 5. I think i'm pretty close to get much better at them. My flip feel so much bettert hen before. I think i can get more than 10 in a week.
Strong double down is getting really strong... Pixie duoble down, blurriest, barfly are all moves that i can hit pretty good. Still not midstring, but they don't feel ahrd as they use to be. Flip double down is getting ok. But i can't hit barefly on flip yet. So yah, i can do toe far double down BS in string on a regular basis. I like it!

Then i showed up at my afternoon class, and like 10 people came to ask if it was me the guy playing footbag this morning. I didn't even notive they were in my class of the afternoon. Pretty cool, the get impressed by footbag. some people still care about what we do :).

Yah for sure Dante! I'll try to fix flip barfly tomorrow! Should be something possible. double down feel more natural then before on flip side... I will not race against you for far whirl, you are the master at that move!

-=october 7th 2010=-

Finally had a good session this week. A 1 hour one. Solo.

My control was ON. you know these day where you feel you master the bag. Like if it just obey to you. So this is what happen. I'm glad it happen, because i had some bad sessions this week!

So yah, today i mostly drilled whirls. I get whirl x 10 BS several time. But they don't feel so good... Like i feel i stall the bag way to much behind when i hit whirl, wich is a problem when i want to step. Still, the motion is getting more natural. On flip side, i have hard time to do it ''quick''. I just practiced a small drill like : stall - set - quick plant - raise leg like if i was going for whirl - rpt. It helped me.

Here are the objective of the month :
Far whirl x 30. Definitly possible.
Barfly x 20. I will have a hard time on this one, because i can't really do flip barfly right now. But i want to have high expectation toward my game and my objective. I feel it's a good challenge. Hard, but not impossible.

Session with James tomorrow! Can't wait. I'm sooooo happy that he seems so motivated right now! I think he will brag Nick back into footbag, wich is an awsome news!

So yah, that session with James happen! This time we played in a locker room of UQAM. It's much better then the class room. The floor is really grippy; i play much better with that kind of floor!

Yesterday, i told James that i was planning to drill a lot. So this is what i did! The first hour of the session was mainly whirl x 10 BS rpt every string. My whirl are MUCH better after that session. They feel more naturel, the stall is closer to my body, the timing is better, they look the same on BS. Sound good. I hit far whirl x 5. I know i can hit even more in a near future. I'm really aiming for that far whirl x 30. Then i spent 15 minutes on double down. I hit toe far double down - far mirage - rpt x 8. My flip hip is getting use to double down, i feel my mouvement is more natural. That smell flip barfly soon! Like you can smell burger when someone cook them. I also hit barrage - toe far double down BSOS. Maybe 2nd or 3rd try, i don't know. Then i hit a good run wth stepping far drifter BSOS. They were feeling natural, for a move i never do...

James is DEFINITLY getting more consistent. I'm so glad about that. I'm also soooooo happy that he is motivated to play footbag. I'm looking to have weekly session with him. He is gonna kill it. Today he had a run with Barfly-double pickup BSOS. He also hit the best torque i have ever seen him do. He probably hit tons of other things, but i'm not so good for recalling all the combos :S.

Having someone to play footbag with one in a while is awsome.

I will not say much about that session! a 1hour solo one. Nothing crazy came out of hit. I was mostly fighthing the bag haha!
Open everything 1st try during my warm up.
2nd toe to toe 5 : Open symp. mixer.
Far whirl x 6, perfectly controlled. I like that one.

-=October 10th 2010=-
You know, there are some day when you feel it. You wake up the morning, and you know it will be a good footbag day. Today was one like that :). I had a 2 hours intense solo session. Not so many highlights, but the control was on. I think i'm more happy after a long controlled guiltless run then after a new move or a crazy link... I like to feel i dominate my body, the bag and the gravity. Here are some highlights :

Shut mixer
Shut eggbeater
Unlock flip shut. I'm happy about this one, because flip shut used to hurt my hips. today i found the good motion and i don't feel anything anymore! Life is awsome!

Oh and that smell good.... yah that smell flip barfly.

Haha yah Erik! A kind of a level up. I feel i was level 3 before worlds. Now i feel like i'm level 5 haha! I'm proud of the improvment i had in 2 months! Can't wait to play with you again in few more months man!

By the way, for those who haven't seen it, the video (mostly) or the circle contest of the Kickass 3 jam is online :

2 hours solo session.

Control was awsome today, again! I put a tons of time on whirls again tonight. I really figured the timing of that move on both side. I need to fix a bith the position of the clipper at then end to be able to step out of it more easily, then i'll be done with that move. It will be a huge step for me... Whirl has been the hardest move to learn for me, BY FAR. I mean, i have been playing for almost 2 years and half now, and i still have trouble with whirls... I think blurry drifter and paradox torque has been easyer for me then whirl for 2 years... haha. I also drilled far whirl. They feel better. I have not done 10 of them now, but i can do pretty often like 5-6, perfectly control. So it's a matter of time before i hit those 10. And then i can aim for 30 ;).
Here are two small highlights
-Dyno to gyro whirl midstring. Not planned and first try.
-far whirl x 6 again.

Can't wait for the tomorrow session :D

Squeezed a small 45 minutes session between my 2 class. Was actually a really good one.

Whirl is getting pretty much a joke right now. I like to hit them, i like how i hit them. Getting more consistent. Maybe one more week and i'll be able to hit 10 whirl BS on request. Right now i can do it maybe 50%. But they feel and look pretty good.

Highlight of the day : Blender and far blender... midstring. Improving my form and timing helped way too much my blender. They just feel natural on one side now. I would never imagine i would hit that move. I mean, 1 year ago Ianek spent like 2 hours trying to help me with taht move. And i ws nowhere close to get it. Now that i have a much better timing on whirl, it's just easy... Whirl-osis.... That's basically it lol!

Anyway, i had fun that session :).

Can't wait for NYJ to kick with Matt K., Dante, Mat Gauthier! gonna be awsome!

Yah, i have been wall climbing today basically for the first time since i broke my small toe... like 6 month ago. I loose around 10 pound of muscle in the shoulder and the back in the past 6 month. I was expecting to do terrible at wall climbing. Still, it was not that bad! My technic is still very good. I'm still pretty strong, but i don't have any endurance anymore! It was fun! Wall climbing is definitly a more social sport then footbag.

About footbag, i had 2 session today. The first one was a 45 minutes solo session. I mostly drill whirl and far whirl. I hit far whirl x 7, all good form and controlled. Was nice.

I had an other session at night with one friend. A one hour solo session. He is definitly getting better. He can do lots of alternate to stall now. His clipper aren'T that strong yet, but they are much better. He hit down for the first time. Several mirage. footed few illusion. He will never become serious about the sport, but he could become a tiltless player in the next few months. On my side i tried to work on far whirl again. But all that wall climbing + that first session were hard on my legs. So i did more ''single moves''. I hit stepping far PS whirl. I'm surprise to see how ps whirel is getting on one side. Footed food processor. I tried it only 5 times. I'm confident i can hit that move!

Should havge an other session tomorrow with James, Sebastien and maybe Nick. Sound good.

Cya!
