Freedom Footbags Website: What's Up?

Post by Dawn Of Freestyle »

Hey, I've had a lot of people asking me what's up with the Freedom website. Not to worry, it will be back soon! :)

Our host changed servers and it turns out all our html code is outdated! 8O
Allan Haggett is re-writing the code for our new site. I'm hoping it will be up very soon!

For any of you who didn't know, Daryl "Genzu" Genz - the founder of Freedom Footbags, went back to work as an engineer in the summer of 2008. I've been in charge of Freedom ever since. I love bringing the best footbags and footbag related products to the community and beyond so when the site is up and running, please spread the word so we can make up for lost sales and site-building investments.

Much Gratitude and Appreciation!!
Thanks for supporting Freedom!

Peace,
Shredita

To clarify, it was the PHP code that was outdated, not the HTML. My HTML is state-of-the-art ;) The ecommerce software we were using (osCommerce) is written in PHP4. Our host (Dreamhost) moved us to a new server and discontinued support PHP4 in the process with basically zero notification; they sent a big checklist of things to look out for with the server change and neglected to mention no more PHP4!! Losers. Granted, we should have upgraded the site a while back to support a more modern language, but what we had was working ...

So, I'm re-writing the whole shopping cart interface and payment gateway. This is not a particularly easy task and it has taken me about a week longer than expected to get everything tight and secure. I'm anticipating launching in a minimal state within the next 24 hours.

Happily, A

Thank you both for having good communication over the issue, and thank you for the speedy delivery of effort :)

Freedom footbags has been a staple in the footbag community ever since I started playing, so I'm glad that you have taken over Sunny

So, the site is back up and accepting orders now :) There are still quite a few design and structure related issues that I'm ironing out, but you can add items to the cart and checkout and everything happens the way it should. If you have any questions, please feel to ask here or email me: [email protected]
