NYC Jam. BOMB! (Sorry GRASS, I woulda written something for you but both my bosses were around that week)

Man, where to begin? I guess the beginning would be good. So, Friday. I wake up, go to work, and get home at noon (this is normal, funny hours) and do laundry, pack, check mapquest to see how long the drive should be (4 hours) and whatnot until 4 pm when its time to pick up Tristan, Pete and Kevin. I leave my apartment, take a look at my bike (that had it's front wheel stolen and replaced with a bent wheel about a month ago, and then a week later had the bent wheel stolen as well and has been looking sad ever since, slumped on the ground with no front wheel) and continue my journey to Tristan's.

So I pick up everyone and we set out to NYC at about 5 pm. Considering that it was Memorial Day weekend and that traffic would set us back by 2 hours we came prepared with cds, ipods, a dvd player and a few other choice items that were mostly consumed by Pete but somehow effected Kevin and provided for an extremely humorous car ride down to NYC. We only stopped twice on the way down; to get gas and to take a bathroom break. We ended up arriving at Bruce Dole's place right around 9 pm. So yeah, we left at 5, got there at 9. 8O There was no traffic. This is unheard of in Massachusetts.

We greet Bruce, he offers us beer and the Celtics game. We indulge. Good game, Celtics won, going to the championships. I don't really follow basketball but I always enjoy watching it. After the game I was pretty tired at... but "The Hangover" was on, so we HAD to watch some of that, hysterical movie. Then when the Hangover was over I was all ready to go to sleep around midnight-thirty... but then we saw that "Terminator Salvation" was on, so of course we had to check it out and make fun of its awful lameness. We watched about a half hour then I decided to hit the hay finally.... until we noticed that "From Dusk til Dawn" was only a half hour in... now at this point I was considering just passing out where I was sitting, but once Bruce pointed out the multiple cameos of Cheech Marin, I just had to watch. Aw man, such a good movie, Tarantino is a crazy mofo. When that movie ended at about 3am we all agreed it was time for some shut eye.... which we did until about 3:30am when Bruce's friend showed up looking for a place to crash. I think I gave a half asleep "hello" or something, but maybe not. Sorry dude, I forgot your name, but your REALLY good at footbag, so props.

Day 2

Zzzzz. Wake up! Time for a jam! So we get up Saturday morning after a solid 6-7 hours of sleep and make our way out to the event site. Maaaaaaann, what an amazing venue. Such a beautiful view of the city, right under... the Roosevelt Island Bridge? I think so. Anyway, we get there and the first people we see are Chris Balch, and some dude with a combover who turned out to be Ryan Thomas. If Ryan ever wanted to be a politician, he would win. Doesn't matter what he runs for, he'd win. Turns out they were heading over to the net site so we said "screw that noise" and meandered toward the freestyle site where we encountered the godless, seal-poaching Mike Toolan. He saw us and raisied his hands as if to signal "I got here first, in all your faces!" Along with Mike were Vince Bradley, Matt Cross, Johnny Suderman, Drew Martin, Barret, and some other NYC players who I didn't really recognize at that point.

So finally the shred begins and we all have a merry old time doing that thing we do. I don't remember much of the first day shred, but I do remember Dave and Johnny both trying to duck furious set. I was in a different circle just peering over from time to time, but Hogan tells me Dave had the bag hit his neck a few times, and Johnny cleared one but the second dex was questionable. Crazy stuff. Oh yeah! circle prelims was this day. As they were announcing the pools Pete and I were kicking and heard them say "David Clavens, Doug Tank, and Pete Bowler" and we just looked at each other and started laughing.

I played okay in that circle. Dave was impressed by my improvement so that was a huge compliment. Personally, I thought Pete played better than I did in this circle but for some reason I was advanced to the "2nd chance final circle" or whatever. This circle was me, Mike Toolan, and Matt Isanuk. At this point my legs were kinda shaky from playing all day and I had this guilty feeling like I shouldn't have been in that circle since I thought Pete played better than I did, so needless to say, I didnt do very well. Matt Isanuk ended up taking it and I was happy to be done with circle. Idk how many people know Matt since I dont *think* he's on modified, but man, that guy can shred. I heard he hit 7 fearless that day. Nasty. He actually ended up peacing later that day and I didn't really think anything about it until I realized circle finals was the next day.... and he wasn't going to be there... and Mike Toolan sucks at footbag. :P

Anyway, we continue playing a little more after that and one thing that sticks out is a circle with me, Waylon, Kevin, and Toolan. Someone mentioned toe blur and that somehow turned into a race between me and Toolan for who could hit toe blur b2b first. Toolan tried and sucked as usual, then I went and footed the 2nd toe blur a couple times then passed, then the bag comes to Kevin and dude hits it first try to a nice string. 8O :x  Then he passes to Toolan who ALSO hits it. So now I GOTTA hit this link. First attempt, footed. Second attempt not even close. Blah! Luckily on my next turn I was able to hit it x3 and regain some pride. This was prolly one of the funnest circles the whole weekend.

It was also around this time that Ben Cooke showed up looking like a tourist in his hometown. Ben was still on the DL unfortantly but he did a lot of juggling interlaced with some footbag tricks. Dude's getting disgustingly good at juggling. I get the feeling he could be on Jordens level if he keeps at it. Just really good hand eye foot coordination. Oh, and Idk you (yet) Nick Landes but props to you for making amazing juggling balls. Those were some of the best juggling balls that also function as a footbag that I've ever played with. We actually used them for a demo in Times Square the next day, but more on that later.

Anyhoohoo, when the shred was over we went to the Riverwalk Restuarant (which I thought was "Ripwalk Restuarant" when I first glanced at it) and got food. Ted Fritsch made an appearance and told us not to order the hambugers. When we asked why, he said "they're too big and too good" We ate, talked footbag, and made plenty of scenes. One scene in particular was when a ladycop on a segway rode by and Barret thought to himself "Ya know, I've always wanted to ride a segway..." Next thing I know Barret is moving without walking and I"m just waiting for the ladycop to ask "who wants to shoot a gun?!" The police on Roosevelt Island are unlike any police anywhere else. They are just way too nice and cool.... I'm still not sure if thats good or bad.

After dinner it seems like everyone kinda went their own way, so the BSC along with Bruce and Toolan went back to Bruce's place. We got some ice cold burr, watched the 2nd half of the Lakers game (Lakers won) and 3/4 of "Drag me to Hell". Aw man, this movie was awesome. I really want to go back and watch all the Evil Dead movies now. So funny. Oh, and then we watched the 2nd half of Zoolander. Bruce was telling me about an episode of "Between Two Ferns w/ Zach Galifianakis" that had Ben Stiller in it and how it was hysterical, so I found it last night, and laughed my head off.

http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/60072a ... en-stiller

I have this stupid web filter thing on my computer at work so I'm not sure if that link works, but if not, you should definitly look for it. Tooooo funny.

Aight, well this is already a super long post and it's about time for a lunch break, so I'll just do the rest of the write up after lunch or tomorrow.

Ok, figure I should finish the rest of one jam write up before I leave for another one.

Where'd I leave off? Oh yeah, go to sleep Saturday night. Sleep sleep sleep. Hey! Wake up! There's stuff to do! So yeah, we get up a little later this day, try to remember what movies we watched the night prior (not so easy at the time) and take our time making it over to the event site. When we got there we decided to get breakfast at the same place we had dinner the night before. Our server was this girl Melissa, who we all agreed looked ( . ) ( . ).. smart. However, Pete decided it was a good idea to let her know that she was a slut and was taking too long with our food. So of course after she overheard said remark we waited another 15-20 minutes til our food was ready. I got an omelette. It was okay. Not very filling. Annnnyway, after we finished up we headed over to the shred spot to kick and warm up for sick 3.

Now, if you recall, final circle was this day... and if you also recall, Matt Isanek, who won the 2nd chance circle had left... and Mike Toolan sucks at footbag. So I'm kicking, when all of a sudden Bruce walks up to me and says, "Ready for final circle?" I groan, and say no and that Mike should play instead. Mike declines cause he's a bitch and tells me to Just Do It Nike Swoosh. So I reluctantly say yes and spend the next half hour shredding with Tristan and alone feeling nervous and guilty just trying to warm up my non-existant stepping set because I decided that that seemed like the best time to school one of my worst concepts... yeah, I'm good at footbag.

 Oh btw I forgot to mention this earlier, but Tristan did a routine! Two actually! He's only been playing for... 5 months? Maybe I'm not sure, but he did a good job. It was completely unplanned and a lot of dropping (which was expected for someone who didn't even know what a routine was until after he did it) but he also hit a lot of moves within the two minutes. So major props to him for that!

So, back to ME. :P There I am feeling stupid bc I'm only playing final circle bc of a technicality... then I realized. Fuck it. This is happening. I am going to play in a circle with Dave, Johnny, and Ryan Thomas. That is fucking cool. And from then on I was okay. Still kinda nervous, but not feeling shitty or anything... Yeah, I'm scheduled to appear on Oprah next week for an episode entitled "Empowerment". Anywho, I go back inside and Sick3 begins shortly after. Everyone did really well! Kevin hit, blur>dimwalk>ripwalk, i think? Something like that. Pete went off and hit 3 Sick3s within 4 or 5 tries. I remember surge>smoke>blurry whirl, but forget the other two. All very legit. I barely managed blurriest>diving osis>ps whirl. It was funny, my second attempt was assassin>merlin>symp whirl and I couldn't get past assassin, but then when my turn was over I walked to the side and hit it first try. It was cool though cause John Goode saw it and came over and gave me a high 5. 8) Oh, and in case you were wondering, (I know you were) Dave hit mullet>jani>blurry whirling swirl... I think. It might have been ps instead of blurry, not sure.

Ok. End sick 3. Time for final circle. The moment of truth. My first time playing with the pro's with everything (nothing) on the line. I'm first. The first string will make or break you.....Kick kick kick, and.... a decent string! Haha, I played pretty okay. I only had one string where I dropped on the first move (twice with pass back. Really quantum set?) and the rest weren't bad. Too much spinning and ducking, but hey, it's better than dropping. Anyway, after my ego remained in tact the rest of the time at the gym was fun. I played a little with Ryan Thomas and saw him hit a mobius and some gyro toes. Wrrrrrrreaks of style. Then eventually we all headed over to Times Square.

Times Square. What an amazing place. The epitome of American consumerism and straight up Whoa. Lots of interesting characters. One in particular. www.maninwhitedress.com especially comes to mind. This was a really fun place to kick. Ben Cooke mentioned how it was a historical moment considering that it was the most footbaggers Times Square had ever seen. Making it even more historical (at least for one person) was when I was in a circle with Will T, Waylon, and John Goode, and John was saying how he'd only ever hit 5 contacts of rubberman. I told him "Do it" and just like that, BOOM! First try. That kid is going to be incredible. Just textbook form on everything. That bastard.

After that I did some crowd demoing with Johnny, Matt Cross, John Schneider, and Dave for a little bit (this is where we used those Landes juggling balls) and that was fun, but my legs were pretty beat so I only got pity claps.

Blah blah blah, shred shred shred
-Drew and Barret tell us to get the fuck out and go to dinner
-my stuff is locked in John S's car
-Toolan finds random subway stub on ground
-I walk to subway with BSC and others to try and use it
-it doesnt work
-I wander back to shred spot
-eventually find John S and get a ride with him.

Okay. So Idk how many of you have ever ridden with John Schneider driving, but let me tell you, it is an experience. On the way there Matt Cross was in the front seat talking to John and at one point John mentioned how he shouldn't be talking bc it's distracting and can result in bad things... but he decided "fuck that Im John fuckin Schneider and I do what I want" cuz well, he's the man. So John gives us a mini-tour of NYC, shows us a really cool library with some awesome architecture and eventually finds his way over to Roosevelt Island.... Okay, I just realized I rode with John on two separate occasions and that part about talking and driving doesn't apply to this situation, but comes after dinner, so just remember that. :!:

Okay time for dinner, blah blah blah, sit down, everyone already has food, I mooch off people around me, Pete gives me half a cheese steak sub cuz he's the man and I get to know Dave Beyers who I never really talked to before but ended up being a really cool guy! Turns out he makes his own music and t-shirts and has an awesome sense of humor. It was also around this time that I notice Melissa, from breakfast that morning, is still on shift and serving us. Well lo and behold, Pete makes it his god given duty to make sure this girl knows we're all degenerates and manages to insult her TWO more times. I don't remember what he said, but I know it was lewd and hilarious. It didn't matter though cuz she was cool and wanted to know more about hackey sack so after dinner she had about 20 sweaty, adrenaline pumping, dirty minded footbaggers surrounding her encouraging her to hit a toe stall.... I don't understand why this sport doesn't have more girls.

End dinner. Time to go party at Ben Cooke's pad. Ok, NOW I get back into John S's car for a ride there. This time Drew M is sitting shotty with me and Bruce in the back seat with ample room (I found out later Pete rode in someone's trunk). So off we go to Ben's. Everyone's having a grand old time, Drew's telling footbagers in other cars he misses them, John's taking illegal turns bc Fuck the police, and Bruce and I are in the back discussing how being around footbaggers too long results in homoerotic behavior, aka Drew's phone calls. So there we are all high and mighty when suddenly we enter a one way road... going the wrong way. We're about ten feet onto this road when all of a sudden John says "Shit! Its the cops." Fuck. One cop walks up to my window and says "license and registration" and I give him a befuddled look bc I'm in the back seat. Apparently the cops are trained to stand near the rear of the car when pulling someone over so the driver can't stick a gun in the cop's chest or something. Not a bad idea. So John and the police dude go through the routine and it ends with the cop saying "Okay, what you wanna do is turn around and keep driving down that road and blah blah blah". he was SO nice. I couldn't believe it. I think I already reflected on this, but I'm drunk and don't really remember. But yeah, the officer let us go and eventually we got to Ben's safe and sound. HUGE thanks to John S for being such an awesome driver.

Enter Party at Ben Cooke's. For those unfamiliar, Ben has an INCREDIBLE apartment. Too cool. The apartment itself was nice and everything but all the facilities were incredible. A giant pool, a pool table, ping pong, foosball, awesome hanging chair things that were WAY too much fun to sit in, and an awesome place to sit and shoot the shit that we ended up using as a place to shred. It was me, Kevin H, John, S, John G, and Dave Beyers and we just kinda fooled around. It was great, John S hit a few of his patented ripsteins and the whole circle just went off with excitement. He hit another really cool combo that I don't remember but I know it was ridiculous. Ha, that's interesting right? "It was the greatest thing ever but I can't tell you what it was!" Ugh. So yeah, we played there in the game room for a little until John had to leave and the rest of us decided to investigate the roof.

Aw man, the roof. Just another piece of awesomeness that is Ben Cooke's apartment. There were like 2 other parties going on up there at the same time. A few of us ended up shredding a little more, but I mostly just drank and hit a legover whenever someone passed me a bag. Kevin Hogan, man. That kid does not know when to stop. He was in pain doing a clipper and he just kept going. Absurd. That's another name to look out for in a year. Anyway, we chilled up there for a bit, I peed off the roof and on some electrical wires and eventually we made our way back downstairs to Ben's room and said our goodbyes to everyone. After that it got hazy. I remember walking to the subway, but I don't remember actually being on the subway, or anything after that. Kevin tells me when we got back to Bruces I was sitting up engaging in conversation then all of a sudden I just fell back and passed out. :? Yeah, that sounds about right.

Zzzzz. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP! SHUT THE FUCK UP PHONE ALARM! I set my alarm for 7, wanting to get back to Boston by noon, but that simply wasn't happening so I slept for another 2 hours and then eventually got up and took a shower and apparently woke everyone else up b'c everyone was ready to go by 9:30. Thanks for being ready dudes. We said our goodbyes to Bruce and Mike and peaced out. We stopped to get breakfast burritos which were mad good but very filling and were on the road by 10. The ride back was pretty uneventful (which is a good thing, no police) and I got back to my place by 3:30. As I walked from my car to my apartment I took a look at my sad bike in order to get back into the normal swing of things (and to make sure no one stole the back wheel) and saw that it was still there and continued walking.... But hark! Something was off. My frame was parallel to the ground.... There was a front wheel on my bike! I walked over to investigate, and make sure it was real and I wasn't hallucinating, and it turns out it was the same bent wheel that was stolen a few weeks ago!

A great ending to a great weekend. Thanks to everyone that was there and made it great. You guys rule.

Hey, thanks for the posts guys.

So I'm finally done with summer 2 classes. All I have left is a diff EQ final and then I go home for about 2 weeks then Im back in classes yet again and start only playing footbag once a week again. BUT for now I plan to play as much as I can in these next two weeks. And to start it off I had a pretty good solo sesh today. Drilled mostly swirl and rev swirl stuff. The one highlight that really thrilled me was toe blink b2b. I finally hit toe muted rev. swirl flipside and then realized how much easier toe blink was, and voila. Also finally hit inspinning clipper b2b which I should've done a year ago but I guess that was around the time I stopped playing by myself so much and kinda plateaued. Aw well. Oh, I also finally hit flip maelstrom at the last BSC session, and some other stuff that I cant seem to remember. Hmmmm..... Oh yeah! Diving whirl, gyro whirl, tomahawk all bsos with flipside spinning whirl. Maybe I can get all 4 next session.

I wish I had an update concerning the Boston Jam, but unfortunately I don't. But rest assured, it WILL happen... eventually.... before 2012 at least.

Peace

So I've been playing a lot more over the past week and have managed to hit some cool stuff:

-blurry drifter bs (finally)
-tombstone bs
-blurry whirl b2b
-hatchet>tomahawk>rpt
-dlo>ss dlo>rpt>smog>string
-blurriest>tomahwak>ps whirl
-phoenix>blurriest>pdx torque (first pdx whirl free 555)

My string length is shit but what are you gonna do. I'm getting pretty excited for funtastiks, especially now that I can't even go to Kingston for a session since I forgot my stupid freakin passport in Boston. :x :x :x Le blah. Hopefully classes wont be too crazy and I can make it to KICKASS in a month.

Hey thanks Mathieu. Maybe we can kick some at kickass.

So.... Funtastiks. Wow. I had so much fun at this tourny. Where to begin... I guess I should start from the beginning.

Let's rewind to the weekend before the event. I just finished up my summer semester, felt good about my finals and was starting to get back into a footbag routine. It was great, I felt like I was really improving and thought, "I'm actually going to play well at this event!" Well lo and behold, Sunday night I have a bunch of friends over, we end up smoking hookah and then I find out one of my friends was getting over a cold.... :x Needless to say I felt horrible Monday morning and felt a bit sick for the rest of the week up until Funtastiks weekend. There goes my 'training everyday and staying in shape' mentality.

Anywho, I figured I'd leave Friday around 4 and get in around 9, but then some things fell through and I was able to leave at 2 and got to the hotel early, at about 7. Now since the hotel shred wasn't supposed to begin until 8 and footbaggers are notorious for being late, I began regretting not bringing a book with me.

However, once I got out of my car, I saw two ppl walking toward the hotel wearing lavers! :D "Maybe others are inside, already shredding!" But as I approached the door, the same two kids walked back out only to reveal that they were the first ones there. Turns out they were newer players from Ohio, Brandon and Megan, I believe? Funny story about Megan actually, turns out she had a tattoo of one of the drawings by Zeke from CIC on her back shoulder. Maybe I can find a link of the drawing..... http://www.footbag.org/media/255/bodybag_03.jpg The best part about it was that she had only been playing for about a month and could manage toe stalls. So I hacked with those two for a while and then met Dan the Man. What a funny guy. Mostly a net player, and all around awesome person. He does stand up in his hometown and told me some jokes from his routine and it was all pretty clever material. Eventually Hack Sack Jack showed up and we went inside and then I figured I'd start warming up my legs a little.

Aw man was I out of it. I could hardly string 15 tiltless and my guiltless shred was just abysmal. It was okay though because soon enough Mathieu GM and Jay B showed up and Mat started kicking and I was able to vibe off his shred a little and play okay. Mathieu's gotten a LOT better over the past few months. His pixie shuffle was on and his zooming was looking really good. I gotta start playing more and blogging less if I want to keep up with him at KICKASS. We both kept peer pressuring Jay to play but he was being all lame and talking about how his legs were massaged earlier and blah blah blah. But eventually he caved and put on his units and began warming up. Unfortunately I was spent by the time Jay started playing so I sat on the sidelines with Ken and just yelled out tricks. I remember reverse swirling blender bs effortlessly and twirl>vortex. He also footed furious drifter and gyro grifter a buncha times. I guess Jay's kinda okay at footbag. :P

Eventually things started to settle down and I ended up bumming some floorspace off of Montreal. Holy shit, it was the worst sleep EVER. One of the Montreal guys turned the AC on and it got sooooo ridiculously cold. At first it was kinda hot so I just lied on the floor without a blanket but around 3am the AC started to do work and I ended up trying use a t-shirt as a blanket the rest of the night. Ugh, so terrible. Luckily, Marc and one of the other Montrealers left around 730am so I stole one of the beds and slept until about noon.

Eventually Jay, Mat and me decided to get food at Bob Evans where I found out that Jay is a 400 pound kid trapped in the body of a freestyler. Seriously, that kid can eat like nobody's business. Anyway, as we were finishing up I spotted Tom K and Nathan A from Chicago walking by and get them to come over to our table where we exchange salutations and such. They're some of the friendliest guys in footbag. Just real easy going and fun to talk to.

So we finish up at the restaurant and head over to the event site. After a bit of misdirection and a mortality check we end up making it there in one piece. Everyone kinda went their own way so I decided to go watch Ken and Nate P play some net. They played fairly decently for freestylers and I think I heard they might've won a match in the intermediate division? I'm not sure, but either way, they held their own, so props to them. I tried playing a little with Mathieu and Tom but decided it's not really my thing. Tom has a naaaasty serve. Where's the envy smiley?

After that I decided to go shred with the freestylers and see how my legs felt. They felt shitty. I still played with a bunch of people and met some newer players and some guys I've never played with before though so that was good fun. I played a little with Ian Brill and he was fun to talk to. Really cool leggy atomic and hippy quantum sets too which was unusual, but in a good way. Then I saw Bob R sitting on a table and decided to talk to him for a little. He wasn't playing at the time but he made up for it by playing later that night ALL night. More on that later though. I also got to play a little with Donovan who complimented me on my ducking. It's just a matter of time until he realizes how easy it is. I also met Mark Bull and Pat (sry I didn't catch your last name) both of which have been playing for years but took some time off for one reason or another. It's cool to see how players can take such long breaks from footbag and come back strong as ever. I remember Mark hitting blurry dyno and Pat having a really solid style. Good stuff.

Soon enough Jay, Mat and me went back to Bob Evans for some dinner and were accompanied by John Goode. Everyone got some kinda appropriate dinner like a sandwich or chicken or something, except for me. I got something that I can't exactly remember the name but ended up refering to as "pancake delight" the rest of the time. Christ, that thing was monstrous. And the lady had the nerve to ask if I wanted some bacon or sausage on the side! I barely finished 3/4 and regretted not going with the turkey club. Aw man, that hotel bathroom will never be the same....

Annnnnyway, a buncha people went back to the hotel shred room and we held circle competition. I decided to start drinking a little before circle comp since I knew I was gonna play like garbage and my legs were already tired from all the previous shred. Ended up I was in a circle with Marc G, Nathan A, and Ken S..... Ken is such a dick. I played okay throughout and dropped on pdx whirl on two separate occasions which really bothered me. Although I did have one sorta okay run that began with e-walk... Then I passed to Ken who had a sorta really awesome run that began with e-walk>fog. That bastard. Seriously though, Ken's a lot of fun to play with in circle. He's all over the place, shredding his way out of the circle and back into it, and hitting lots of hard moves throughout his strings. Obviously Ken won and I actually tied with Marc G for 2nd which I was very satisfied with.

Oh yeah, it was also around this time that the worst, most hated freestyler throughout the ages emerged. That's right, Mike Toolan. I convinced him that that he was playing in circle comp and so he rushed to warm up only to find out that he wasn't actually on the roster. Sucker. Mike and I actually ended up being the last ones shredding that night other than Chris Kovacs, who I didn't register as Chris Kovacs until someone said "Chris" and I saw him effortlessly stepping out of blurry whirl and stepping whirl and hitting pdx torques and whatnot. That was totally surreal since I'd only heard his name before and knew of him as the, for lack of a better term, "shred rival" of Dave Clavens back when Dave was beginning to get recognition. 8O < Is a good way to describe my reaction.

Oh and I also got to shred with the Rieferman. I'm always blown away by his paradons. Dude's got some thick legs but his double downs always look super clean. I also played in a circle with John S and Josh G. It's always exciting watching John S hit his weird flapper, tootsie roll tricks. Too much style. I asked Josh to hit symp bubba infinity and he was like "Alright." SO hardcore.

I know I'm forgetting a lot from this night but I gotta get to class so hopefully I'll be able to finish this up at some point.

EDIT: "I guess it's just too small to stuff" - Nate Pipenberg. Idk how I forgot to mention that earlier, but that was probably the highlight of my weekend. Nate, John and I went to pizza hut so they could get a medium pizza and I could buy beer. As we're waiting for their pizza I ask Nate what they got on it and he said something like mushrooms, olives, and peppers, or something, and I asked why he didn't get stuffed crust..... Anyway, it was hilarious to me at the time.

Peace

Was good to meet you and shred with you at Funtastiks! Thanks for the write-up; it was good read! Hope I get a chance to shred with you again at some point (Rochester is only about 2h from Bing!).

Hey man, it was great meeting you too! Haha, unfortunately Im in Boston for school, but I'm home for holidays so maybe we can get a session or 2 in around then. Hope to kick with you again!

So I'm quickly realizing that it's very unlikely that I'm going to finish my write-up. Aw well.

Had a session with Pete today. First day back since Saturday. Hit some cool stuff that I can't remember much of...

-ducking pdx torque
-gyro dlo + vortex bsos

Haha, that's all I got. I need to school so much stuff!

Here's my blog!

So Ian came into town this past weekend and shenanigans were had, beers were drank, hookah smoked, and something else.... hmmm. Oh yeah, some footbag. :)

I'd played like 3 or 4 days of the week already which was awesome so I was more in shape than I have been in a while. I didn't hit anything too exciting but had some good strings with lots of different 5s thrown in midrun. I finally hit divining osis x10>long string with osis variations. Couple of scorpian tails. Buncha blurriests. Plasticman. Uhhh, Idk, stuff.

Ian was a bit outta practice but that didn't stop him from hitting some old 5's, and some new ones. He footed pdx torque a couple times then decided pdx flux would be easier and hit that first try. Then later I told him to hit forque, which I guess would now be called shorque, and we deemed "shark". Again footed that and decided fuhflux would be easier (fairy flux) and footed that a million times. At which point I told him if he hit it I would hit mullet. So next run, BAM, shutthefluxup. So of course I had to hit mullet which I finally did after too many tries. Hmmm, oh yeah he also footed fuhflail/backside fudge.

Footbag trick names are fun. All in all a good weekend.

Peace

I got an offer from CDM!!!!!! WOOOOOO!!!!!!! :D :D :D

It's actually kinda funny, I had an interview with Volpe U.S. Dept of Trans. today at 4:00pm, and I missed a call from a number I didn't recognize at about 3:00pm. So I called them back, and found out it was just an outgoing number from the company, and not specific to the person that actually called me. Ugh, I figured it was CDM calling to tell me that I wasn't going to get the position. Anyway, right before I leaver for my interview with Volpe, I check my e-mail and see that I have something from an HR rep. from CDM. Boom! "You have been offered a position." Overcome with joy I decided I would still go to my interview with Volpe since I'm a gentleman and scholar, and I fuckin NAILED the interview. It was hardcore too, there were 2 people in the room, and then 2 people on an intercom listening to my every word. Luckily, it's so much easier to relax when you know you already have a job offer somewhere else.

Anyway, I was just crazy elated and felt the need to post about this here because it's a way better highlight than any of my footbag achievements as of late. Hmm, speaking of, let's see...

-blurriest b2b>string with blurry whirl bsos
-spinning ducking ddd with flip scorpions tail in the run
-string with pixie ss drifter, smoke, vortex, and vertigo
-smog sauce (shut up, I'm just understanding dlo's)

That's all I can think of really, other than I've been ending sessions with 80-90 contact tiltless strings lately.

It feels like a HUGE weight has been lifted off my shoulders (I know thats corny but fuck off, its true) now that I dont have to worry about interviewing anymore. Now all I have to worry about is a stupid 10 minute presentation I have to give for my stupid professional writing class. :x Bleck!

Peace

Congrats on the job offer, I know how much of a relief that can be.

And I agree that smog bsos is hard.

Good luck with your next step!

Thanks Ken!

SHRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEDDDDDD!

I just got my Zach Hoffa bag in the mail and it feels fucking CHOICE!

It's funny, I have been so apathetic toward footbag lately but for some reason I spent a lot of time surfing modified at work today and just felt that shredergy after reading through some of Nick P and Jay B's blogs. Those guys just emit that "footbag is awesome" feeling.

ANywho, as I walked in my apartment I said to myself, "Self, if your footbag is here then you ARE going to shred tonight" and lo and behold, as soon as I opened my mailbox, BAM! Brand new footbag! I actually laughed a little because I quickly realized, "Well shit, now I really do have to play."

However this is a good thing. I'm finally feelin that footbag spark thats been burnt out for quite some time now..... I wanna hit new moves! And link hard moves that I can already do!

I'll post back here after my session. Maybe even some highlights! 8O
