I've been feeling a bit sad lately, on the social front. I feel as if I have less friends then I ever have before. Everyone is kind of off doing their own thing and I feel the rift, the gap, widening every day.

:(

Ever have someone tell you everything is fine, all the time? To the point that you just don't even want to ask anymore, because they're never completely honest with you? Call me girly, but It's disheartening because if you're not upfront with how you feel about things then it's really just a superficial friendship that has no grounds, because you don't want to tell the other person how you actually are.

I have a small, pretty independent family that's kind of split up, so my good friends ARE my family, including the many footbaggers with whom I do my best to stay in contact with. It makes me especially sad to lose, in a way, a few close friends to a few different things. I say "in a way" because we're still friends but... not really, you know?

Wish I could meet some cool couples!

So I've bounced back from being a bit depressed; We took matters into our own hands and made sure to get all social this weekend, it was definitely a lot of fun!

Rod Laver, you taunt me so; why are your shoes what I need but don't have?

Not many more updates then that, but I hope some other prominent players in the area write in this blog to fill up the gyro drifter.

I think you meant spinning drifter. In any case, I'm glad to hear your spirits are back up. I hope you get your shoes soon and get back in the shredgame. Mathieu GM is keen as hell to play, so ride his enthusiasm.

Screwed up my own joke

Mathieu is keen like a commander when it comes to footbag, this is true... hopefully once he heals up (he's injured AND sick I think) we can talk about setting up some perma-shred times.

Bet you all that extra cardio from footbag came in useful for your midnight session ;)

I've been depressed about footysack since having an incredibly awful session followed by being kicked out of Centre Gadbois on a sunday afternoon when it was literally empty.
What was the reason? "if i let you play more will come"
THE CENTER WILL BE OVERRUN BY FOOTBAG PLAYERS. COME MY BROTHERS, UNITE AND MAKE HIS NIGHTMARE A REALITY!

Anyway footbag is never far from my mind, it's part of my excercise regimen...that I have yet to start heheheeheh
I'm waiting on getting a bench and some free weights, then I will have to shred to keep my legs and heart in shape.

What did you get up to last weekend Nick? I saw a show and played DnD hahahaha
Let's get together next weekend (I'll have a few beers, I've rescinded my oath and have now become moderate)

Last weekend was a good weekend, me and Bailey went to a sick breakfast at La Fine Pointe with a guy from work, traded in some MTG cards for 15 boosters which didn't cost us a dime, played some magic and then packed up and headed over to Alex and Mel's place in Longeuil; brought some vino and had a wonderful time. Sunday was more relax but I worked on music for 4ish hours and we watched Evil Dead. Good times!

James, your vow was dumb, but the fact that you lasted about 2 weeks into your whatever that was is pretty bad.... but at least it's over and you've been enlightened to the path of moderation. This weekend I'm busy but I'll hit ya up soon enough dawg.

Footbag.

Here's a list of fun cool not-so-hard links I wanna do in my runs

Thanks buddy! That's one of the nicest things you've said about me!

Money is OFFICIALLY transferred over to PayPal for an exciting laver purchase so the ball is rolling now!

More debauchery is happening this weekend, so I won't write too much about that, but I gotta say it's a little disheartening reading about the footbag scene now that a lot of people are chiming in. I miss the footbag boom, it was such an exciting time that you kids who weren't around then really missed something. Everyone cared, and everyone played. Hard. Clubs had record number of members and it never seemed it would drop off.

I wonder what happened? Is it because so many of us started at the same time that we all lost interest at the same time? Is it because worlds started being moved to Europe? Flipsider closing down shop? Most probably it's a combination of these factors.

One big thing for me is not having a larger-than-life shredder holding the torch and shining their guiding light on us (however unwilling it is in the case of Ryan). It seemed to me that during Vasek's reign, people just tried harder either inspired by him or in a desire to take him down, or just learn his moves. He was such an influence that when one of his videos came one and he would fiddle with some concept, it would become an instant trend.

It seemed like in 2004, everyone was learning ripstein and jani-walker, and in 2005, everyone could do those tricks. There was a HUGE surge in whirr/dbl blender as well...

I think his interest waning actually had a big impact on the sport, as no one was around at the time to really take his spot. The drama of worlds just lost impact when he lost interest, which is a big thing as well. David definitely is the new-school shredder equivalent and his accomplishments are pretty mind-blowing, but Vasek just had this aura - he really was the Golden Child. As a side-note, Felix dropped out around this time as well to pursue beatboxing, so it was 2 giants in 1 go. Ales went muscle instead of lean, another big move. We all look up to our footbag heroes, especially when we're just starting, and the loss of three greats to the evil known as real life was an especially hard blow to the scene.

I wonder what will happen next?

The money is OFFICIALLY on it's way to PayPal... again! That means Lavers in a month or so. I'll consider it a Christmas gift to myself. There's not much else to report; our scene is on hiatus for the moment and everyone seems to be focusing on other things right now, and by "other things" I mean women.

Tally-ho!

EDIT: Haha didn't realize I had posted about paypal before. I guess my life is so boring right now that I have to repeat "news" to keep this bitch interesting.

My gf is very supportive about footbag in fact. she told me : i don't want you to play less footbag because of me. She kinda offered me to study while i play footbag O.o.

So yah, i'm still playing 5 or 6 times a week since my knee is back from the dead. Now i only have to be careful with my ''awsome'' hips. I have a sport competition this weekend. If it still hurt after that, i will go to see the damn doc haha.

We only need you to have lavres, then everything will be fine in montreal. Can'T wait to play with you!

See you one day.

hey guys,

so i started playing kinds regularly again, and I'm keen to come down to Montreal and kick with you guys. I'd like to have your email address or phone number so I could call to schedule a session. Math GM gave me his at the Mtl spring jam but I've lost it straight away as he gave it to me. Anyways, been watching old vids from the 2004 worlds and the Montreal scene is pretty much dead compared to what Powerhouse it used to be.

keep it up, don't let it drop

So pho all you jealous mofos out there... I just ordered mahself a pair of genuine, black mesh lavers!! No excuse for not playing once I get those, I'm eagerly looking forward to some serious shredding with mah main man James McCullough, and rising star Mathieu GM.

Shout out to Adam Greenwood, I got a real kick out of hanging out with you this past weekend, that little party was a blast. Keep it real brother.

Lavers are in! Well, kinda.. they arrived but I missed the package so I gotta arrange another delivery date. Hopefully it won't cost anything; it was shipped by "DHC". Who the fuck are they?? Anyway got a number I can call tonight so hopefully within the week I'll be up and kicking again!

I've been steadily working on my crunches pretty much every day and the results have been great; I initially started with a flabby 2 sets of 25, and now I'm doing 2 sets of 70. I've never really worked out properly before and I feel the discipline of doing this every day is good and will help once I start doing an actual training routine. I'm really looking forward to it, and think it's going to sky-rocket my footbag skills.

Actually I'm going to be trying this home-training program that's apparently the bees-knees, but I know nothing about it. Anyone ever hear of the P90 or something? I have no idea even what it's called properly haha but Bailey will be hooking us up with what we need so we'll see how that goes.

Music stuff has been excellent; after plateauing for a frustrating little while I feel like I've improved some more again, and for the first time ever I recorded my hook to one of my beats! You know, it's easy to be the producer when you're recording someone else, getting them pumped and able to deliver the best vocal performance possible, but when it's YOU in front of the mic it's a whole different experience... especially when it's your first time!

It's a lot like sex the first time; enthusiastic, awkward, and lacks the swag to really kill. But once you get some experience, and get your body into it... oh man....
