Thanks Marco, I took your words into consideration with that last one. Actually Bob Riefer liked my Alpine bag so much that I gave it to him. So it wasn't a complete fail, I guess
and Alf, I like those bags a lot. They're lookin so sweet.
This one is showing a few problems. The top one is where my fabric is fraying because I have microsuede and not ultra suede. I ordered some tho. And then the bottom one is where I tied off on my blind stitch. I was wondering how to get rid of that knot on the outside.
This is my third 32 (on the left) and my first (right). My filler for my third is those little stainless steel pellets. The first is made out of a cut up shirt filled with rice. My third is small which I like and is micro suede, it is also my first with bleed holes. I will hopefully have ultra suede soon for Christmas.
this is my second one made of micro suede and filled with rice.
Thx and no I haven't tried nail polish, when I made it I didn't know how to properly tie off at the beginning or end so it has popped like four or five stitches which I have repaired but I'm getting facile soon so I'm not gonna bother. If you do a regular granny knot even a double quadruple knot it slides right through the fabric. I have to make a loop like a whip stitch and then put the thread thru that to tie off at beginning and end. I hope that makes sense.
about the knot:
when you tie off the knot, is it on the INSIDE of the hexes or outside?
what I mean is,
you push the needle through the last stitch (nr.of the last hex and then back again through the first stitch (nr.1) of the first hex you started with! the knot should now be on the inside of the hexes!!! (hope this is not to confusing written)
Inside as in, in-between the bleed holes or actually on the back side of the fabric? Well I got my free swatches from fields but it is just not quite enough to make a 32 so I'm gonna make a five panel. (something of my creation that happened by accident when I was trying to make a mr. Sandbag type template and I made the panels too thin and so it looked like a football until I threw in an extra fifth panel and now it is round, when I finish it I will post pics, and I have also just made my first order from fields for an 1/8 of a yard of flash red and Atlantis. With the samples tho I found my microsuede to be more supple than the facile. Hmmm my micro suede frays tho and I don't think it is as durable. I suppose I should try the nail polish trick.
Ok I think I understand how, my on ly problem is with the thread I'm usin(button thread) I can't just tie a knot I have to do like a loop thing and then put the thread thru the loop and do that twice and then tie a knot. I need to get upholstry thread, I'm not a fan of using dental floss, it is two stiff feeling.
just try different flos, i use flos for allmost 6 years now. its so strong and cheap at the same time. and if you get the waxed one it just glides throu the fabric as if it was warm butter or something. but do as you like, its up to you
