It's snowing rats and frogs outside. Roads are too dangerous to drive, so I walked down to the gym and met up with Stefan and Chris. Chris is usually too busy with school work, like I was last semester, but since today was the second day for the new semester, we took advantage of not having much homework.

Stefan hit his first xbd rake.. And he finally hit an EXCELLENT Swirl!!!! The kid's been freestyling for less than a month... and he hit swirl. WTF. Chris hit his first flapper (He has SOOOO much crank! Flappers require him no effort whatsoever.) He also footed his first mirage about a billion times, couldn't hit it though. We were all having an off night because of the weather I think.

Highlights:

 Early in session: Ripstein> ducking clipper> string

 Stefan gave me a hat trick to end my session. Flapper stall> Ducking op Flapper stall, Pdx mirage, Pixie muted dragon. And I hit Flapper> Ducking op Flapper> Pdx Mirage> Pixie Muted Dragon. That was sweet.

 After a while, Stefan and Chris left and I stayed and drilled for an hour. Sensei Bob's assigned homework: 25 sets of 5 infinities each side. So, clipper> 5 infinities (starting on flip infinity)> hand catch... clipper> 5 infinities (starting on strong infinity)> hand catch... rpt 50x..... 250 butterflies in total. Plus so many more that I dropped early with in the beginning. Let's just say, I can finally hit a few infinities in a row :P

 Fun Anecdote of My Day: I woke up this morning, earlier than I needed to, thirsty as hell. I stumbled out of bed and waddled to my refrigerator, sat down on the ground (still half-asleep) and pulled out a Tropicana "Peach Orchard Punch" juice. I took a sip and it was PACKED with the most AMAZING juice flavor I'd ever tasted. Without thinking, the first thing I could blurt aloud (directed to my juice carton) was "Fuck You." Before today, Juice has never forced me to curse at it for being so delicious.

That is the funniest thing I've heard about a juice in the morning! that literally is hilarious!

along with juice, my friend elliot walks into a raging party and the owner shows him the fridge and its stocked full of basically just beer and he says, "please take whatever you want." elliot goes, "really, well, how about that juicebox."

Joey, nice juice story! Sounds like something I would actually do too :P

Nick, Thanks! I'm taking a bit of a footbag break to let my legs chill out. After those last few sessions, my legs need it. And Flux is illusioning osis (like a torque, but instead of the first dex being a mirage, it's an illusion).

When I do come back to footbag at the end of this week, my goal is to work on flipside stepping, pdx whirls, and hopefully hit Haze (Stepping DLO). I feel like this is close.

I actually just received a Fushigi for a Pollyanna at work. My co-worker got my name and knew that I played footbag and figured I would enjoy Contact Juggling (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtztrcGkCBw), and she was damn right. Never thought I'd actually be getting into it as much as I am, but I really dig it. I've only had it for 2 days and I can already put on a mini-show for people and hold their attention. It's so mesmerizing. Plus, when my legs hurt from footbag  Contact Juggling! And when my hands hurt from Contact Juggling  Footbag! And when it gets warmer and I feel like falling off of a 2 inch wide length of rope  Slackline!

I heart hobbies.

Had a session with Evan today in the gym. He hit legover bs, mirage (strong), clipper (strong), pickup bs, and illusion bs. All in one day! So sweet to see him improving quickly.

I messed about a bit and ended up surprising myself.

Highlights:

 MOBUIS!!!!!!!! Hit it about 5 times on strongside and I footed it twice on weakside SO STOKED ON THIS!!!! Inspiration by Mark Monistere
 Torque bs!!!! Multiple times for each side.
 A lot of CLEAN strongside Pdx Whirls midstring. Flipside's close, but still sloppy. Thanks to Nathan Pipenburg for the tips he gave me.
 Footed flip ripstein again :\

Damn, sounds like you've leveled up since NYJ. 8O Props.

Btw, only spinning whirl gets pdx, not gyro whirl. Sorry to be a nit-picky pointer-outer but my inner footbag geek is all "Did he hit gyro whirl or spinning whirl?!?!" Which brings me to my next question, did you hit gyro pdx whirl (spinning whirl)? In which case this entire paragrpah is obsolete.

On an unrelated note, hurray for ska!

Hey Doug, good to hear from you again! And yeah, NYJ was such an inspiration for me to stop sucking at footbag. You're a pretty big inspiration for me in my game, actually. I try to model my spinning ducking after your spinning ducking. It's so ideal.

I found that out a little too late. I was just too lazy to go back and edit it :\ I hit gyro whirl, which is still good-ish for me, considering I was never very good with whirling. I'll take that as a challenge though. I'll try to hit spinning whirl next time I kick (hopefully today).

Oh and, yeah SKA!

Solo session tonight, to just practice some old tricks that I need to get more consecutive with and try to learn some new ones.

Highlights:

 Pdx Torque bs! Mega hyped on this one. Hit it strongside x5 and only 1 on weakside, then footed it a bunch on flip too. Inspirations for this one: Mark Monistere, Kevin Hogan, and Matt Cross This will be my second 5 add I can hit on both sides.
 Drilled Torque (feeling like one of my strongest tricks now, on both sides), Drifter (much quicker dex and more sturdy delay now), Eggbeater (*Loud farting noise*), Mixer (much snappier now), and Pdx Whirl (hit my first flipside pdx whirls tonight, strong feels awesome most of the time. Weak feels alright most of the time) Inspiration on pdx whirls: Nathan Pipenberg
 Footed Nuclear Mirage FIVE FRAKING TIMES!!! Stopped trying it because it was hurting my support leg.

I took some video of my session. I might be posting it up soon.

Edit: Sooner than I thought:

nice stuff. Sadly, I don't have any critiques or anything because I can't hit anything from that vid. At one point I could hit strong pdx whirl... Anyways, It looked good to me. I liked the end too.

nice bs dude! (I was just thinking the other day how a comment like that would seem so weird in any other context but this foum

but on your pdx whirls... I'd like to see you not plant your support leg.. you do it on both sides and it's just like that pdx dlo you kept tapping on. once you stopped tapping it became 100% more fluid and you hit it like every time. it might not be the best technique for you personally but I just feel it looks better and based on my experience heling you with that pdx dlo I think your game will benefit from it!

remember to always think of the fluidity of pdx mirages and try to transfer than flow to all pdx tricks

nice torques btw

Thanks for checking it out guys.

Nick, you're so effing right dude. I knew something felt off about it.. I just ghosted a few in my room without planting and they felt and looked much better. I'll keep that in mind next time I shred. Thanks a bunch for the quick feedback. Keep at it man.

Nice drills Nick! Good to see you're getting the basics down - the only main thing that stood out for me was your plant during pdx whirls, as Pasquar pointed out. I think that plant is just making the trick harder :? props on everything you've got bs as well man, that's so key! Keep it up.

Awesome, Thanks Dante! Really cool to hear from you here! I realize now that I plant on pdx whirls. Next time I shred/drill, I'll definitely cut the habit.

Also, on facebook, I gave some tips to you for pdx torques that will hopefully make them easier for you. I normally wouldn't give tips on a 5 add, but pdx torques just come so easily to me now and I really had to analyze them to learn them. Hope they help.
