John Goode Enjoying Nice Weather Blog
So I was sick pretty much all winter break, and only got in one session throughout as a result. There's something up with my stomach and it just doesn't want to go away. But I'm starting to kick again, and damn, I'm so out of shape lol. I've had two sessions since getting back to school.
Throughout the first session I set nine goals and was able to get all of them. A lot should have been very easy, but really took a lot. That was to be expected though.
Today, I had a great session. Like, this would've probably even been a pretty good session before I took a break. I started off with just 3 goals, expecting two of them to be relatively easy and the third to take a while. The two, were indeed pretty easy, surprisingly. But what was most surprising of all, was the easiness of the third goal. That goal was to go back to what I was doing like a year ago style of session. That I meant I had to hit a certain number of strings with a minimum number of contacts. Today, it was 4 guiltless strings of at least 15 contacts. I did this so quickly, it was crazy. Heck, 3 of the 4 strings were not only 15+ contacts, they were 20+. This, I did not expect whatsoever. I might've simply been in a "impossible to drop" mind set without even knowing it. I'm feeling pretty confident on really getting into the groove again. I really would like to take this break and turn it into mass improvement.
I also got jani bs again. Made me happy.
Although, what was a random highlight at the end was hitting flurry like second try out of nowhere. I hadn't hit one since GRASS, and that one was very like stressed cause I would only try it downtime. Today, I decide to try it midtime like everyone else, and snap dawg, it happened. I even came pretty close on my flipside, which was almost even weirder.
Yeah, bye.

Haha thanks dude. I've never gotten sunilwalker. I'll definitely give it a whack tomorrow, hopefully some really, really good whacks.zachatree wrote:props on BS jani.. ive still yet to seal it.
big props on guiltless strings, thats a really cool goal. ill have to try it, i like the idea.
you ever hit suniwalker? i challenge you to BS it next session
And with the guiltless strings, when I was trying to make the final push from tiltless to guiltless at the end of '09, it really helped doing this, just immersing myself with guiltless, guiltless, guiltless.

Yeah, writing down the goals beforehand or even as you go definitely helps too.
Also, I hit sunilwalker bs. Strongside was first try even. Talk about a surprise lol. So, thanks for the challenge, Zach!
String-wise, I sucked lol. Will hit his first DLO, so super props to him. He came wickedly close to hit so many times before sealing it.
Yay.

So I turned 20 today. I've decided it's time for me to effin man up and start playing more. I guess since I'm 20 I'll have to do at least 20 times a month. I'll be making a video one day this weekend as a marker essentially. I plan to drill pretty much every session, and I'll make a blog vid every ten sessions or so just to track any progress. Since I'm posting this here, I have no choice but to actually do this, or face being called a n00b! Well I'm still a n00b, but that's not the point. Seeing my name dropped a few times in that one thread in the general section really changed my perspective, so we'll see how this goes.
Later dudez

Haha thanks guys.
As promised, here's the video that will be used to compare progress in future videos. Some of the stuff in the video was really inspired by a Byrin video that I kinda became obsessed with lol. Enjoy lol

Despite my larger motivation as of late, I still haven't been able to kick as much. My stomach is still being my biggest foe. I've gotten more tests that are all coming back negative of course lol.
However, I did get to play outside for the first time this year. I've been working on mixers as of late, even though I haven't really made massive progress on them cause my sessions are so spaced out. Other highlights from my outdoors session included:
- pdx torque (finally lol)
- flip mobius
- far symple rev swirl bs.
Symp rev swirls are nifty.
I miss stamina.
I like traction.
A lot.
edit: I totally forgot to mention I got toe pickup bsos. That was cool

I see it's been a few days since I've written here. I've played with Drew a couple times and as of the past week or so, I've been practicing for my school's "Got Talent" contest. My goal for that was to drop as little as possible, so I made most of the routine juggling haha. During the audition last night, I did the juggling perfect, and dropped on like 3 n00b things in the footbag part. Sheesh. Earlier in the day, i was able to do the routine almost perfectly as a whole. Lol. I find out by wednesday whether I make the cut for the final program or not lol.
And of course, I was under the impression that traction would be very minimal for the contest. That impression was correct, but for the audition, it was on nice carpeting lol. I could've worn my typical lavers and been happy, but no, I just had to go and wear my half-size-too-big-red/white/black/clunky lavers that I wore for half of worlds. Those shoes make me suck so badly lol. But they sure do have some wonderful traction.
At least now until PA jam I can wear my mesh again. Then back to clunkers until the 26th lol.
My stomach is kinda ish doing a bit better, but it still sucks when I'm not careful lol.
All those Vegas videos are soo good. I'm excited because my sister moves out to Vegas in November after she gets married. It'll be nice to have a free place to crash if I wanna go kick there sometime

Thanks dude!
So i was looking thru footblogs and noticed my name showed up in two of them in one sitting. I feel cool lol
While I'm here, I might as well talk about the session with Drew and Will earlier. I had a lot of starts to good strings lol. Alas, many were only starts. Had some alright strings too though. Was able to hit random stuff mid string.
Happiest highlight though was randomly find out I could spin out of ps whirl on command. I've hit stuff like spinning ducking butter out of it, but it was always planned. Today, I was just able to say ps whirl > spinning clipper midstring when i felt like it.
Also hit toe ss barrage b2b. Not anything crazy, just something I don't do nearly as much as I should.
AND, I love hitting flip spinning whirl first try 3 times and taking a lot of tries for the spinning whirl that should be strong in every way lol
k bye
