January-April

Post by ThomASS »

For the last 3 months I would turn on the camera for one night every 2 or 3 weeks. If it is a drill then that is mostly what I did for two weeks. If it is a string, I was trying to incorporate the drills and single tricks/ form I had been working on.

A week before April I got an injury which has taken me out for a week and a half - I thought it would be interesting to see if anyone could guess what happened. So - Can you tell what the injury is?

Hints: I believe it to be a sport specific chronic injury.

Did you bang your head on that thing hovering over you?

Great form. Wonderful track. Inspiring restraint and control. Could be a demo for beginners on what to aspire for before going for larger tricks.

The only thing form wise that I really noticed is that sometimes you rock back onto the heels of your support leg during osis or ducking tricks. I also noticed that you seem to bend your support knee a lot for clipper, but I can't see how that might have caused/contributed to an injury.

Was the injury accrued over the course of the 3 months shown in the video or was there like a before and after point somewhere in there?

The main chronic injury I've had from footbag is tendinitis in the ankles due to rolling my ankles so many times and over cranking on clippers. I've also heard of people having tendinitis in their knees or hips.

Thanks Ian. Suprisingly no...I did not hit my head :D

Yea Rory, the injury happened over those 3 months. I've never had this problem. Thanks for the thoughts on form!

Also, the theme of the training was to work on my left clipper.

Nice video, Ryan. I've been drilling a lot too recently and this gave me a lot of insight as to altering or editing my drills. I like that clipper> extension> retraction drill a lot. Going to have to bogart that one from you. Your form is looking smooth as buttah. Nice string length too. Can you elaborate on your drilling? Like what was a typical night drill for you (how many clippers? clip>extend>retracts? inside stalls?) I looks like all that drilling really paid off for you.

As for your injury... I'm gonna just go with my initial thought... You slipped on one of those net bags.

Someone busted through the garage door in a hummer.... but you dodged it.

But that was when the driver emerged from the vehicle wielding a bowie knife!.... Luckily you're well versed in the art of kicking ass and/or taking names and took 'em down via powerbomb...

But at that moment you realized there was an actual bomb strapped to the passenger seat of the car! You ran and ducked for cover behind the mirror, which shattered from the bomb's explosion ensuring seven years bad luck to to whoever owned the mirror and causing a barrage of shrapnel in nearly every direction.... you were unharmed.

As you stood up, unrattled by the situation, you walked over to pick up your footbag and collapsed due to a curse by Jay Boychuck for lack of gyro jughandles.

....Or maybe your back hurts. It could go either way.
