Hey Mat, I was browsing through the blogs, and I was reading your post about whirls.

Whirls have also been a great trouble for me, especially on the flipside. Today I thought about the trick a bit differently after reading your post, and hit flip blurry whirl for the first time.

So I would just like to say thanks for that :)

Hey Daniel! I'm super happy that all my mistakes with whirls helped you to hit the flip one.... I had )and still have) such a hard time with whirls... Not natural at all for me... Keep working hard man, it will pay off :D.

I had few session with Corry Allen while he was in montreal. It's was super awsome. Corry has such a big potential. Don't forget the tips Sebastien gave you Corry :P. I filmed all the 3 sessions; gonna do a video out of these session! Sweet!

-=January 12th 2011=-
Worked mostly on double down.
I hit : toe double down, toe near double down, barfly, clipper near double down all BS!
Blurriest is getting easy on one side. Haven't hit flip side, but it's getting closer. HAppy with that too.
Blurry whirl - pdx torque BS
10-15 contacts of barfly - hand catch -switch side without dropping a single barfly yessss!

Gonna shred again tomorow!

Had a small 1 hour and half session.

The session started soooo badly. Couldn't hit anything.
And then in the middle of nowhere, my flip double down kinda unlocked.
Hit blurriest flip side. Was so deep! Hit barfly b2b (think i have done that previsouly this week). Did tons of flip pixie double down. And did strong pixie ss double down (wich i harder then i expected...).

Gonna play tomorow again for sure!

I still have a lot of trouble with whirls, but I've been putting much more work into the flip whirl lately, and noticing some improvements. Waht an annoying trick!

Damn! Looking good, Mat! Ever since coming home from NYJ, I've been training and drilling like a mad man. My influence for this crazy training is all you man. Since I saw what great improvements you had made from Funtastiks to NYJ, you really inprired me to start drilling a lot. So I'd also like to thank you. You're a huge inspiration for me playing footbag, in general.

Had a super hardcore 1 hour 1 man session today. I feel those hardcore one hour session are those that are the best for me. When i play more then 1 hour i just get improductive. And if i play more then 1 hour i can be tired the next day, wish make my next session sucks. I think i'll try to stick to 1 hour session. 5 or 6 times a week.... after my internship lol!

So yah here we go; i'll let you guess wish concepts i worked on today :

Open mixer - open ss mixer - rpt ; 1st try.

Tapping mixer BS

Mixer - open DD - BS

Far Mixer - open DD - RPT

Fog - open DD - BS. I'm not ready for rpt right now; but i think it might be a short term objective!

For those that aren't famliliar with the DS; mixer was DLO and open was pixie.

So yah my intership last until late april. I won'T play much during that time. I'll try to keep my level!

Yah... It's been a long time since my last post. My internship is sucking a lot of energy out of me. I don't feel like shredding after 8 hours walking and doing my stuff. I have played maybe 3 or 4 times since my last post? The good side is that i'll be doe with my internship in few weeks, so i'll start to play a LOT again... Basically every day until worlds i guess.

On an other note, i'm unable to decide wich sport i love the most... Wall climbing or footbag? Honnestly i feel that soon or later i'll stop footbag to start wall climbing again. I could do both, but i'm not like that. I'm a perfectionnist that work really hard in what i do. So i prefer picking only one sport. I mean, wall climbing is just as awsome as footbag. But there is a biger community in my town and it doesn'T sucks that much enevrgy out of me. I'm not saying i'm stopping footbag. I'm just saying that i have been thinking a lot about both sports and that i just don't know wich one to choose.

Take a look at that vid; that totally show how awsome bouldering is.

You used to do wall climbing?
I liked the video. It must be crazy difficult and it looks like you have to have insanely strong hands to do it.

Don't quit footbag ;-)

Yah.

I'm living a pretty stressful period right now. That internship is really productive. I learn a lot. But it's also super stressful. Also things int my personnal life are not going exactly the way i want them to be. Plus i don't have much time to do sports (wich is essential for me).

I definitly need your supoprt girls and guys. Can't wait to see everybody as soon as possible.

I'll try to shred this weekend. Maybe the first outdoor session of the year :)?

Hey Mat, just checked out that wall-climbing video. My room mate does that too, and he showed me a pair of those climbing shoes. Very weird, but cool sport. Similar to footbag, in that you need to use funny shoes :P

If you have to choose one or the other, then choose whichever makes you happier. Utilitarianism, yo. If you're as dedicated to wall-climbing as you are to footbag, you're probably pretty damn good at wall-climbing too.

...Or there's always Option B:

 Climb wall... Shred at the top :P

I don't want to try to sway your decision either way, so I hope you'll be happy with whichever one you choose, but if you do end up quitting footbag, then you'll always be remembered by me since you've made such an impact on me as a player.

Take it easy man.

thx Nick. Your comment mean a lot to me :).

Today was the first montreal outdorr session of the year : Sebastien, Ianek, Sam and I. We just played smoothly to get the rust out of our leg.

Was fun. I mostly did blurry whirl. I'm glad i can fully pull that trick off kinda properly BS. I feel within a month i could hit blurry wirhl x10. Also give a try to blurry whirl - stepping ss whirl - rpt. Get 3 contact the only time i tryed it. Feel good :)!

Intership done in 2-3 weeks. Then i will shred my ass off ;).

4th session in 3 days.

I had a small chat with Ianek about blender. So i started to school them.

I'm kinda close to hit it both side. I just did it pdx. Then John Goode said : go for spender. So i did... Hit it after few tries. I'm nowhere close to be good at blender. But it was funny :).

Also did barfly b2b starting from BS. My flip is getting better and better. I'm happy about it.

I might not play until the weekend. It's my last real week of internship!! Woooot.

I think it's actually cool that you have two sports you like enough that you can choose from. Most people don't even find one sport that they can enjoy and excel at. I'm hoping you stick with footbag, but really you should choose whichever you think will be more fun for you in the long run.

Will you be at Euros?
