3D Gaming

Post by zach4th »

Just wondering what some of modified's thoughts are regarding 3d technology in gaming!?

I'm excited for PS3 and Nintendo 3Ds, however will probably wait for this to be perfected, mainly nintedo to come out with a home console version.

Im a bit undecided, ive read a lot of articles on the subject and all of them sing praises as to what the technology can do and has done to games like Killzone or Motor Storm, but you get the feeling that under all the hype, its still all just a bit gimmicky.

Ive only ever watched one 3D movie, Toy Story 3. I was really impressed with that, but thats on a large scale, im not so sure id be as impressed in my own lounge short of buying a football field sized television.

New technologies in gaming tend to be more miss than hit. Almost always they require a lot of time to mature, and game developers need time to utilize the technology. The first crops of games in a new technology are often shit.

On top of that, after you watch a few 3d movies you grow to realize that it does nothing to change your experience other than increasing your chance of a headache.

I'm super skeptical regarding 3d techniques that require glasses, and i have no experience with those that don't. however, those that don't only work for one viewer, which is another reason to be skeptical.

All in all, I'm not at the edge of my seat on this.

Well, ok. So... let me explain something that a lot of us gamers share an opinion on.

3D is a gimmick. I, for one, think that 3D would ruin most games entirely. So while we can respect your interest about the matter... please keep in mind that because it's a gimmick(a very expensive one) very few, if any of us have been willing to waste our money on a 3D monitor and a pair of glasses. It's a stupid idea when you look at it.

And because of this common opinion, companies have not seen much reason to make a whole lot of products that support 3D. No one buys them.

So two things are wrong with the question. Actually, 3.

1. No one cares, unfortunately.

2. Not a whole lot of answers, because there's not a whole lot of monitors.

3. You waited just 5 hours to bump the thread.

:) Hope this helps.

I do know Acer has a very expensive, bright orange one. If that helps at all

I think it's clever spam, and by "clever" I mean related to the topic, rather than completely random. Turing Test still failed though.
