Ken: I agree with you, Bossanova is sweet. Definitely a tie between Bossanova and Surfer Rosa for me. I can never choose. All their albums are awesome though. Cool that you're into them. Secret sauce reminds me of school-bought lunches in highschool... OHHH YEAAHHHH... SECRET SAUCCEEEE

In other news, Stefan and I just had a session. I probably pissed off most of our neighbors because I was yelling so loudly when Stefan his his first few flipside Swirls!!!!! OH MY GOD! I WAS SO STOKED! He hit 3 flip swirls for his first time ever today. He's got swirls down to an amateur science. He's going to be SO sick at swirling tricks in the future. But for now, he;s going to concentrate a lot of flip clippers.

At the end of our session, I set my record for ripwalk! And not just set, I beat the pants off of my old record!... kinda.

Ripwalk x7!!! (I just finished a technical writing class and I'm going to start using what I've learned in class, for my blog. I'm going to bold my best highlight from now on for usability

) I was never very good at stepping sets. Now my legs don't even hurt when I do them. My old record was 4 btw.

Don't worry Bob, I started every run with a flip Dimwalk

I HATED EVERY MINUTE OF IT, but it's definitely helping me improve my flip pixies. PIXIES! Oh man, I'm on a Pixies binge right now... the band and the uptime set. Where the heck is my mind these days?

Well, I have to write a paper for my internship class now. Woot.

Also, for my technical writing class, I had to do that footbag presentation. Now that it's pretty much finished, whoever is interested, you can check out my website Instructions on the Basics of Freestyle Footbag. Some of the basic stalls are a little sketchy because Nadiah wrote that stuff and demo'ed the videos, but I'm going to re-do those sometime and add more videos, so I can give it to my students and they can use it whenever. I miss flipsider. I'd love to make another flipsider. That's where I started with footbag. I spent hours trying to recreate the different moves and I thought I would never be able to hit some of them that I'm hitting now.

Shit, I really need to write that paper...

Dammit! Your right it is on trompe le monde.... I listened to this as soon as I got home. I've listened to this song so many times but never paid attention to the name... Anywho good song.

And more on point, props on the ripwalks! (GODDAMMIT! I'm eating cereal and when I finished I put my unnecessarily heavy spoon in the bowl which was filled with milk and it tipped the bowl over getting milk everywhere! I blame you for this Nick!)

Thanks for the rip'props! Also, bummer about your milk accident. No use crying over spilled milk. Look at the bright side... it'll add character to whatever rug/carpet/item-with-lots-of-hard-to-clean-crevasses that you spilled it on. Plus, you just made a new best friend, because that rot smell will be with you forever. No more lonely times

WHOLEY CKRAHP... I have finals, but all I can think about is playing footbag. It's never been this bad before! How the eff can I study calculus when there's something footbag related on every wall of my room and there are Lavers on my floor next to me and a bag of footbags on my chair. HOLY SHIT, THIS IS SO HARD. As soon as my last final is over this Tuesday, I'm going to drill so hard. I've never had such an urge to drill this much before. I wish I could just throw up and my finals would be aced. Unfortunately, it's not that easy. Drilling SO freaking hard when I leave this joint.

Hey nick,
I finally watched your vid, looks good but I knew that already since I see you play in person frequently. What I did notice that I haven't given you tips on in person lately are two areas that you can easily improve:
- we need to focus more on posture and control - "playing inside the telephone booth" etc. It's hard to concentrate on these things when you're still getting concepts strong, but look at how much we improved your pixie the other day by standing you straight up and watching your front-to-back movement. All your concepts are now strong enough that you can turn your attention to fine tuning. The same level of improvement you had with the pixies the other night can be had with many other concepts by similarly watching your body position and travel. This means standing reasonably straight up, watching arm flail, putting your feet down purposefully etc.

- you're double stepping lots of components that I hadn't noticed before. Such as far butterfly. Watch them. What's that extra step for? Gyro.. what's the extra step for? etc. Get rid of those extra steps (and keep "economy of movement" as a theme in the back of your head from now on)

This summer is going to be great for all of our games. We're all at a point where a nice level-up can occur if we all play a lot, and are helpuful with critiques etc.

Good luck with finals. I'm still playing 13 years after my final undergrad final exam, so you have plenty of time for footbag. Your homework from sen sei is to ace your finals.

I did some flip pixies last night and I amazed myself. I'd say around 100 more clean sets and I'm about ready to put them into actual strings, and I can't wait because I have no toe game..

In other non-footbag news, my dad and Jackson just finished building our Koi pond in our backyard back home, and as soon as finals are out, I'm going to help put in a zen garden next to the pond. I can't wait, because now I'll have a legitimate spot to meditate.

So Mike Angeski texted me and said he footed Pdx Flux. He said I could probably do it... I couldn't I could only manage to foot it... But I hit my first Torquescrew

along with some other neat things. Oh this session was hardly 10 minutes long, btw.

Session with Stefan..

Wasn't as good as we hoped, but we were exhausted from studying and finals. He hit a new trick. Toe Symp Swirl. He was stoked.

My highlights:

Food Processor twice. Tried to film it but it was like the elusive Mew in the game Pokemon Snap... Fucker didn't want to get filmed.

Stepping out of osis mid-run! Felt good

Beat my guiltless record... 13 :\ I beat it by 1.... wow. Yeah, kinda bummed on that. But I had a really sweet dense run of 9 contacts. Meh. I know I can beat 13. I didn't even use that many BOPs. Fuck.

I gotta study now. ONE MORE FINAL! Calc wasn't too bad today.

As for footbag!!!...

Awesome news here. Jackson got 2 new kids interested in shredding! The scene around here is getting so legit. This summer is gonna rule!

But tonight, Bob and I had a BAD ASS new trick session. Bob never really experiments with new stuff. I tried to get him to hit Vortex the other week and he footed it. SO CLOSE! But we went back to trying new tricks tonight. We each hit our couple. Since Bob is a busy dude, he told me to post his new tricks in his blog. Check his blog out after I post his highlights. THEY'RE SO WORTH IT... SERIOUSLY, CHECK BOB'S BLOG OUT.

My highlights:

Blurry Drifter! Sick. Tried it flip. Meh.

Double Spinning Clipper. Best one I've ever hit. These are rare for me. This one took a lot less effort, which is cool. Tried it flipside and I actually came real close to it.

Ducking Pdx Torque!!! New 6!

4th Food Processor!

footed Flurry SO HARD

Tried Marius and Bob said I was close

Tried stepping ducking pdx whirl, but Bob said it was THE. Then my next try he told me to be careful not to step on my foot... So I looked at him and then hit Reverse Career-Ender

But I think the highlight I'm most stoked about was:

Mobius with the osis extremely frozen! I stood there in the osis for about 2 or 3 seconds and I freaked out and didn't know what to do! I was so pissed I didn't know what to do. I'm gonna hit it soon...

Hey, thanks Mike! Yeah man, footbag is the ultimate sport of pushing your body to do what you want it to do. If you push hard enough, I believe you can hit any trick... Just might take some time. If you believe in yourself, well, that's the place to start... Nah, I didn't just quote Arthur... Anyway, Yeah, I'll accept the challenge!... What's Fusion? lol
