My first ever footbag video - A short film by 3 amateurs :D

Post by samanen »

Hai everybody :D It's "sammers" here, a Finnish 15 year old kicker.

I recently got my Haniabag, and as It's springtime here in Finland, so we decided to do a footbag shortmovie with my 2 childhood footbag friends ;) (ok, they are my cousins :D been kicking forever with them)

We're both 15 years old, and this shortie is filmed just after a moment when I got my haniabag, which feels pretty much heavier than my last one (Johnnybag).

If you have anything to say, feel free to say it out loud. Feedback is warmly welcome. Especially constructive feedback, even if it's criticism ;D

Enjoy! :P

I wouldn't suggest filming in the style you did for this video (at least for the first 1/2). For the most part I could barely see what you were doing with the dim lighting and the trees/branches blocking the view

I dunno if this was intentional for artistic reasons but in the future, I would suggest making sure that nothing's obstructing our view of you and make sure the lighting is always BEHIND the camera. With the sun behind you it acts against you as you just appear to be a silhouette and (as mentioned before) I can hardly make out what you're doing, which makes giving constructive criticism a but more difficult.

other than that, amazing progress and keep at it!

i disagree with Nick, i REALLY loved the atmosphere of the video. we could see the mirages / leg overs / clippers.

even tho, i dont think it was a shred video but more like beautiful shots with footbagers in it.

tips ?? try to get the bag closer to you and straight, so youll make your dex smaller and it will be easier.

keep at it, i really enjoyed it !

It seems to me that we're misunderstanding the purpose of his posting this video. I think that the video was intended to be artistic -- not a shred video on which we should critique his form, but a short film, as the title implies. Probably looking for more film-based feedback.

Granted, no specifications on the type of criticism were given so, by all means, have at it; just attempting to elucidate. I thought it was well done.

Ok, first of all, I didn't film this vid. My cousin did, and he has pretty much experience in filming in different situations, lightinings etc.. This actually WAS meant to be artistic, and as we were pretty frozen with our footbag skills at the time, I thought that I would add a tiny special effort to this vid by editing it. And yeah, there was no trees between camera and the player :D Just some kind of tiny branches, and I don't really think that they blocked the view of what's the kicker doing there. Sometimes the camera focused to the background, sometimes to the branches in the foreground and sometimes luckly to the player, but if any of you know.. It's pretty hard to keep focused with a moving object using a systematical videocamera or whatever that's called (I mean professonial cam, not a handy camcorder or that kind of crap stuff) when you have to adjust the focus all the time. Ok, time to take a bit back.. I actually think that this was filmed with autofocus on, but.. whatever. :D

The sun was meant to be there. And I actually thought it would make pretty beautiful atmosphere and lighting to the scene. We waited hours for the sun to get down, so we could film that scene. And I'm still thinking that the sun was pretty sick, beautiful.

But yeah, thanks for your opinions :)

Wow, somebody actually seems to like our style. :D Yeah, you are right. Beautiful shots with footbagging, perfect, right? :D It turned out that editing seems to be in a pretty big role in this vid. Or the thing where everyone is focusing at. But yeah, let's continue.

Thanks man, for the tips, and for the feedback. If you want to see more of these, subscribe to my youtube channel. Ok, I upload maanyy kind of videos.. From side to another side.. But yeah. I think I'll post them there also to let you know. ;)

Nice man, well understood :D Short film = pretty much no action. Just cinematics + nice slow motions n stuff. Somebody seems to be knowing a bit of video editing. Jokes jokes :D

I'm actually looking for any kind of feedback, just anything that you think about the video. Everything is welcome :P

Thank you all.
