I love playing outside. It's starting to get nice out, and I don't have to worry about finding a mildly grippy spot on a gym floor. Yay.

I had a great session. It was only my 3rd of the week, and I'm only playing about 5 hours a week, but I'm still improving.

Some neat stuff I hit:

Symp egg x4
a slew of spinning ducking>spinning something combos, including spinning ducking clipper>spender bsos
ended on blaze>symp egg bsos

Soon Ken. Promise.

I had one of the best sessions of my life today. I felt so in control and had to much energy midstring. I hope this is how I play from now on =)

Oh yeah, highlights:

gyro dlo>dolomite rpt (:o)
whirlwalk, finally
spender>gyro dlo first try
void>superfly>ps egg

Got some nice stuff after I was done:

mobius>pdx whirling swirl first try (after struggling with spender>pws)
an old DC favorite, tombstone>spikehammer bs
food>blaze bs (=D)

I looked back through the last pages and realized that I don't post in here very often. I'll try to fix that.

Better session than last night's. I'm in a weird state with my game now. I'm inconsistent because I'm only playing about once a week, but I know if I play for a full week I'll be better than I've ever been. It's just finding that time and motivation is tough. I'll be home on Wednesday though, so I'll be in training mode for USO.

No real link highlights, but I had good runs overall. Midstring one time I had stepping whirl>blurry drifter>schmoe>smoke>fog, all flipside. that felt good.

I've been back from school since yesterday. It's sad to see another year go by so quickly.

I've been sick all week so I haven't been able to play until today, but I'm glad I waited. I had a pretty hacking cough, and am still not quite over it.

Luckily it was a beautiful day out, and I warmed up pretty quickly after my short break. Just did strings, but I also worked inspinning to start strings. This lead to:

inspinning clipper>(mobius, vortex, gdlo, spender, scorpion's tail), all both sides
a few inspinning clippers midstring
ended with double spinning clipper bs (flip is new =D)

I also had a midstring haze>smog>smoke>fog which felt very controlled and confident. I'd like to keep going in this direction

Another park session today for 1.5 hours.

Worked on inspinning a bit more.

Ended with inspinning clipper>superfly bs

That's about it. Hopefully a session with Will soon.

My first day of USO training. 10 hours a week * 11 weeks = me ready (hopefully)

It's sad to say, but depending on how I feel in August, this might be my last big push for footbag. I love this sport, and I'll probably play until I physically can't anymore, but sometimes it's too much. I feel my interests moving towards music and my desire and drive for footbag has been pretty low all year. Ironically I'm approaching the best level I've ever been at, so I figure I might as well see it through.

That's alright though, we can think about that in 3 months.

The first day back drilling is always hard. I feel good though. Nice solid delays and powerful sets. My weak components are getting stronger, and my strong components are reaching 100% reliability.

Hopefully it's nice tomorrow so I can play in the park

I totally understand what you mean. Sometime i wake up, and i want to do wallclimbing, ice hockey, basketball, ultimate frisbee and more things. But i just say in my mind : train for footbag, worlds are coming. Sometimes at party, i avoid drinking alcool because i want to be in shape for the next day session.

Footbag is awsome. I met really cool people. I travelled a lot with footbag. I get a really awsome physical condition. But yah... lot's of dedication, for not much. We are proud of ourself for sure. We have some recognition from the community. But we give so much of our energy to footbag.

Might be my last summer of really pushing it. I'll see later. But in september in starting my career... :).

Sorry for posting such a long thing in your blog, but i totally feel like you :)

Day 2 of training.

Sore from yesterday, so I had to adjust my drills in order to get through them. I also realized I have one more week of training because USO isn't until the second weekend in August.

Got ingyro mirage bs after I got done practicing. That nomenclature is probably my biggest pet peeve in this sport. Most people would write inspinning mirage in that case, even though in(spinning mirage) would imply paradox. I've always just considered "in" to imply that you're spinning the other direction, and left the core move name unchanged. Ramble ramble ramble.

I wish this rain would go away.

Good point about the ingyro vs. inspinning nomenclature. A lot of that stems from the fact that nomenclature developed over a course of years, so there's a lack of consistency. When people started doing inspinning, nobody was thinking about doing inspinning pdx tricks. Hell, even the concept of spinning pdx wasn't fully accepted. That's how confusing nomenclature can develop.

I can totally relate. I've kind of felt like that for the last 3 years now. On one hand I want to keep playing until I can't anymore, and then just play for fun, without the pressure of trying to get better or push myself. But since my whole career has been fueled by trying to get better and pushing myself, I don't even know if it's possible to keep playing if I don't. Just like you, I feel like I shouldn't stop pushing myself just yet, because (even after 14 years) I feel like I'm playing at my peak now, and I don't want to cheat myself.

I guess I'd recommend pushing hard this summer, taking a couple months off afterwards, and then seeing how you feel towards the game after that.

Thanks Ken.

First session with Will since January was great. It was also the only 2 hours of sunshine we've had all week, and started raining as soon as I drove home.

It was probably one of my best sessions ever. My drilling is already paying off.

Second session with Will (and Josh for a bit) was also good.

I was still sore and tired from the last time we played so it took longer to warm up, but once I did I really got in a groove. Watch out USO, here I come!

predator bsos
really nice furious sets after not doing them for a long time

Good session in the park today. I made my quota of 10 hours a week (10.5 for this week) with 1.5 today. The first week back is always the hardest, but it feels good that I made it all the way through, and I feel better already.

10 more weeks until USO!

First day of the second week was a success. 2.25 hours, with all new (and harder drills)

This summer is going to be ridiculously busy =S But I'll make it work

Ended with whirr>ps egg bs before warming down
