Sore as hell today but muscled my way through another 2 hours. Drilling still going well, but trying to play afterward is super difficult.

I won't be working weekends this summer so NYFA is much much more likely, and I'd love to go. Just have to secure a place to stay, and I'll be golden with the Mega Bus

Took a break from drilling today and got in 2 hours of shred at the park. It was probably the hottest day we've had all year, but luckily I took cover under a pavilion. Yay shade!

Worked on beastly links for the first time in 2.5 years. They're much easier this time around. Footed the standard beast on both sides, but should be able to get it easily within the coming weeks.

Everything feels super solid right now. All of my runs felt great and were pretty long.

My favorite part midstring was: haze>pixie ss dlo>smog>pixie whirl>bw>blaze>just missed fusion

I also got a couple good blazing dlos, which I haven't done since october last year

Damn, dude. It's going to be awesome to kick with you again at NYFA! Maybe a visit to a random grocery in chinatown is in order to get some really random fruit juices in extremely thick cans!

Haha, if only.

4th day in a row, and this one lasted for 2.75 hours 0_o. My body is no longer fighting me when it doesn't want to play. Even when I think I'm going to be sore as hell and not be able to move, I can function just as well as any other day. Playing all the time really feels great.

Today is also the earliest I've ever played in my life, from 9:00am - 11:45. I'm at Siena working on research now, and working at Price Chopper when I get home tonight, so I knew a morning session is the only way I would be able to play. Man I'm glad I did.

I found a nice shady spot in front of the gym, on nice flat concrete, and a cool water fountain right inside. I did my normal drills in less time than expected, so I decided to use my surplus to work on Beastly links again.

I started off doing whirlygig>spender 3 times on each side, which felt pretty easy and better than it ever has. I moved on to hitting the first good feeling mullets I've ever done, and also did 3 on each side. Following that, I hit the 6 best whirlwind>spenders that I ever have. Whirlwind usually gives me trouble, but I'm making great progress on it.

After this, I figured since I was already drilling hard stuff, I should go for fearless. I picked out a combo, and had at it.

My friends, at rougly 11:00am EST, at Siena College, listening to From the Darkness, by Spock's Beard, and witnessed by absolutely nobody, I hit my first 10 fearless: fog>dimmiest>bw>bd>bw>bd>psw>sw>psw>sw. I think I went for a dyno after the last trick, but I was so excited that I dropped right away. This was the first time that I was jumping in the air for footbag in many many months, and it's the best I've felt with the sport in a long time.

I tried to hit it on the other side after that, but could only make it to 9 (I actually hit that before getting the full 10, and nearly dropped to my knees out of the shame of missing the last spinning whirl). I finished up with some final comobos and walked away with glowing pride of completing one of my dream goals in this sport.

P.S. other links hit along the way:

bw>blaze>reactor rpt bs, as part of drilling
superfly>psw>psw>superfly bs, as part of drilling
mullet>ps egg
gig>wind>spender bs

Props on the both sided beast, and also props on 10 unique fearless! Those are both great. Please shoot a video sometime. You'll want to look back on these sessions in the future to see how good you were. Plus, it'd be fun for us to get to watch these highlights.

Stoked to see you at USO in a couple months.

Spent today and yesterday at my girlfriend's house, but squeezed in a quick session when I got home to get my 10 hours for the week.

I was rushing since it was late, which didn't help much, but I did do pretty well, and it was a fine end to the week. Made it through all of my drills quite succinctly and am seeing improvements in all of the concepts.

The only links to report really are superfly>spender bs during drilling, and whirlwind>gdlo to start one of the few strings I did after drilling.

Since I don't have much else to say about my session, and since I keep mentioning it, I feel like I should discuss my drilling process.

I've been doing this for a year or soo, and I think it's been working well. I used to do straight marathon drilling or just trying to set personal records for a while, which worked well for learning basics, but now that I'm practicing more complex concepts I think it just became detrimental.

The way I started drilling is a somewhat modified version of marathon, but I think it's much more satisfying and similarly effective.

First off, every drilling session I warm up and warm down with (currently, but I up it when I feel comfortable) 20 contacts of each BOP. It's an easy way to get loose, and it's always good to work those three. I then move on to do 1/2 of the contacts that I do for the BOPs on: Smear>PLO, Spinning Clipper>Gyro Clipper, Ripwalk>Stepping Clipper, Ducking Clipper>Diving Clipper, and Atomsmasher b2b. I also warm down with these 5 before the final BOPs. These are probably my most core concepts, and it's also good to be constantly working these.

At the beginning of each week I pick out 4 drills or tricks that have concepts I want to work on. This week I did paradon>blurry drifter>blur rpt (for double downs), bedwetter (for harder eggbeater tricks), blurry whirl>blaze>legbeater rpt (for blazing, and for making delays more solid), and superfly (...for superfly)

Starting at the top of the list (with paradon>...), I do 5 reps of each drill/trick. For a single rep, I do one repeat of the drill (or 4 or 5 of each trick) starting on both sides. Once I've done that, I take a mini break to wipe the sweat from my face and take a drink, and do the next rep. On the final rep, I do a harder version of each (in the case of the first drill, blurriest>fog on each side). I do the list in order for each drilling session, and it takes about 1.5 hours to go from the warm up BOPs to the warm down BOPs.

I like this method of drilling, because I end up doing about the same amount of contacts I would if I were marathon drilling, but I get the satisfaction of completing the drill each time before I move on, and I don't feel like I'm pushing myself to just get to a number of contacts.

21 hours since I've started practicing. Need some new drills for next week

That drilling method sounds a lot like what I was doing most recently.
Also, huge props on the fearless.
When will we get to see a new video with all of this great stuff?

Thanks Erik.

Probably from NYFA or afterwords. I don't like playing for the camera too much, and I enjoy surprising people at tournaments ;)

I found my footbag at Siena today. Thank god, right where I left it.

Another not great 1.5 hours tonight, but it was nice to be using my favorite bag again. I was so relieved when I found it.

New drills for this week, but I didn't have a lot of time, so I had to move on from some before completing them. Oh well, there's always Thursday.

Visiting my high school tomorrow as a guest lecturer for my old CS professor. Always makes me feel old...

Yet another shitty session. I guess I'll just have to suffer through this week and hope next week is back to being good.

Well, I had to bite the bullet and accept that I was going to have an off week, and dumbed my drills down for tonight. On the bright side though, I did get to work on smaller stuff that I've always wanted to, but could never find time for, like more unique ducking tricks and spinning ducking.

I have a neat video coming in about an hour

NICE montages dude - especially to superfly at the end there! Mad style as always man. Not sure if I'll make it to USO this year since I'm heading to Worlds but it's good to hear you're training hard.

I would like to see a mid string montage.
