Thanks! I'm definitely going to hit this combo again in Finland, hopefully multiple times.

It's the holocaust memorial day today. I totally forgot and had a session at home, with break beat music in the background and open windows.

It's not my fault, really: I've got a weak memory for dates, and in Israel days technically start in the evening, so for the first half of the day it wasn't holocaust memorial day, it only switched at around 7 pm. What's done is done, though.

On a positive note, I hit two new tricks today: Whirling swirl and Pixie muted whirl. A sign I've been doing a good job working on whirls. The first one I've wanted to hit for a while and the latter just occurred to me, in retrospect probably inspired by Nick Landes' stylish Fairy muted whirl in the night shred video.

Here's the pixie muted swirl.

Sorry for the strip show, it's getting warm and I didn't count on hitting anything memorable. So glad winter's officially over, though, it's like the dark ages of footbag for me.

sesh at the ghetto gym. I'm working on the warm-up drills which I've posted about it on the general footbag section here.
Right now I'm doing clipper-> op clipper rpt, gyro->clipper rpt, ss mirage rpt, ss illusion rpt.

I'm hoping the ss mirage and illusion will improve my dexing. So far I'm not certain they do anything other than a psychological effect where I approach ss double dex tricks with more confidence.

I've also started working a bit on fairy, I can sort of sometimes set it straight up but I can't hit anything out of it yet. Jorden gave me a pixie tip of setting into my knee and then moving it. I'm trying to do the same with fairy.

eso es todo.

Amazing pixie muted swirl! props. My airline just started flying to Tel Aviv earlier this year. Are there any events around there coming up?

Thanks!

One of the biggest ones here is a 4 day long juggling convention, taking place in April. I went there last year and it was a blast. There are more generic events during the summer, live shows and chill by the beach style, but I usually don't go there unless they invite me to perform.

Now that you're a footbagger, though, consider yourself indefinitely invited to Tel Aviv.

Summer is starting to raise it's ugly head. My evening session was a river of sweat. After an hour I was on my back panting and cursing, and it's only going to get worse :\

Modded a new pair of lavers, warmed up with them before switching to my old, falling apart pair. The plan is to break them in before worlds. I should read up my blog to see how long it took me to get used to older pairs...

At any rate:

 ripwalk->schmoe->paradon on video (last session)
 blizzard->pixie whirl on video (unfortunately blizzard dex looks thin)
 flip atomic legover (easier than anticipated)
 pixie op swirl (fun)
 Gyro osis (trying to hit mobius)

Clipper control seems to have improved tremendously. ss mirage drill has been settling in as well. If it wasn't so damn hot I'd be pretty happy with today's session, but I just want to crawl and die somewhere air conditioned.

if things go to plan I will see Propagandhi 3 times this week :)

In Canberra is cooling down, almost every day below zero!

That blizzard pixie whirl combo is a pretty good one. I like that.

I was planning on ending it with a diving butterfly, but I'm really bad at getting out of flip whirl, so I had to scale down my aspirations.

What's worse for footbag, too hot or too cold? My vote goes for too cold.

 Pixie Quantum legover -> Phoenix
 Sailing set to hand catch (hit it first try, and then again on video).

I'm not so sure what I'm working on anymore during sessions. Whirls, spins, symposium mirage, stepping, fairy, torque, zooming... I have too many things I want to work on, very little time and not a lot of stamina. I better start focusing or I won't progress.

I also hate the wings on my new shoes with a passion. I planned to keep them for a while before deciding whether to cut them, but the bag gets stuck in them all the time and sets off direction, and for some reason I miss toe stalls more often. Thankfully neither pixie or flip pixie are greatly affected by this.

I've got a presentation to present tomorrow at a professional conference. I have a pretty bad stage fright so I've been obsessing over this for a whole week. It made me stop working on my book and hardly playing footbag... I can't wait to get it over with. Exactly the reason why I'm not competing at worlds. Last thing I need is to ruin a great footbag vacation by losing sleep weeks before the event :\

Unfortunately not. I got no money.
Man it been far too long since I been to a tournament.

Next year should be looking better as I will be working and not studying.

How did the presentation go?

Student life has its upsides, money isn't one of them...

My presentation went pretty good! I probably had one of the more interesting talks at the convention, but I did it a lot faster than what I planned; it was shorter by half than what I timed at home. People asked intelligent questions at the end, so I suppose they listened.

Here are the slides if anyone's interested:

http://www.slideshare.net/RoyKlein/test ... untestable. It's about test driven development.

A gorgeous beach near my house. The rocks belong to a history packed crusader fort built on the cliff. Since the cliff is receding, parts of the fort fell in the water.

For some reason few people come there so it's fairly secluded.

Great session today; I paced myself and had an energy drink so I'm not sure which factor contributed more.

Worked on fairies - hit lots and felt it slightly coming together. I figured out a way to practice this: Drop the bag to a suspended foot, and fairy out of it. Makes tiny fairies but makes them easy.

:arrow: Blur->pixie op whirl
 Pixie same whirl
:arrow: ducking legover->paradon->spinning clipper
 quantum whirl
 toe symposium whirl (haven't tried this in ages due to fear, and it went super easy)
 pixie muted clipper->spinning clipper->long session

[edit]
Also  Sailing set

And I've cut the first two eyelets off my new shoes. Made them totally bearable.

wow some of those highlights were a treat. quantum whirl especially, what else can you hit out of quantum? can you hit it in runs?

do you think those highlights owe in part to the eyelet mod?

Thanks Matt! Trying to get in shape for worlds :D

I don't know what else can I hit out of quantum - I only very recently started to explore my boundaries with bigger tricks. Any suggestions on quantum->something?

I don't remember which of these highlights I've hit with my new pair and which with the old, but the mod definitely helped everything I did. My old pair had 1 eyelet cut, and now I'm trying two. I don't think I'll go back to walls any time soon.
