and chile sounds great! i'd love to visit south america next summer anyways (just have to save up some money), so it would be great to combine travelling and visiting you. we'll see.

yesterday we had our last indoor session in the WUK (used to be an occupied house and is now a cultural center) for this season and therefore hosted a little footbag jam. after we were done with playing footbag, we made some fresh falafels, ate cake and hung out. we were 15 footbaggers...could have been more, but it was a lot of fun anyways.

in shred-terms i couldn't really concentrate yesterday and thus couldn't hit anything. on the good side though i wasn't feeling tired at all and played for 2 1/2 hours...
the only good combo i hit was:
DATW>far motion>barfly

also, our new flyers arrived! after a few years talking about it, we've finally got footbag-flyers which we can hand out to people when we are shredding in public who are interested into footbag. often when we tell people what we're doing is called footbag, they tend to forget the name after one minute. big thanks to viktor kirchner for designing it!

played today at a freestyle sports festival in vienna. was really cool, the weather was perfect and people seemed really interested. handed a lot of our footbag flyers out.

today's new trick:
spinning swirl

don't know yet whether i should compete at euros or not. the problem really is that i don't like competing...of course i enjoy the feeling after a good routine (like at austrian champs this year), but generally i don't enjoy performing. footbag shows are a bit different though.
don't know why but my legs always get really shaky on stage and i usually suck.

hmm...so i don't know if i should compete and try to win some medals or just play a lot of footbag and enjoy madrid!
any suggestions?

You should compete I think for sure....there are so few girls in the sport, especially at your level, and if you compete it encourages other girls who have been around for a while, but maybe they don't like to compete either anymore to go in the competition as well.

And of course you have a good chance of getting some medals too!

Spinning swirl is a cool trick, I have been trying that lately, with no success, though I have learnt a lot of other swirl tricks in the last couple of months.

I think competing should be totally up to you. Medals are cool.

still haven't made up my mind about competing...

oh, i didn't know that i was trying spinning swirl in svendborg. that visit was fun!
i might be studying in denmark next year by the way...still don't know for sure though. :S

today's session with julian and paul was really crappy. i was really tired after working for 6 hours and university for two hours, plus my legs were tired from yesterday.
after julian and paul stopped playing i messed around with fairy swirling set. first i cleared that dexes but didn't really get it. however after trying for five minutes i understood fairy swirling set (the key is to jump with the leg that is not doing the fairy dex like doing a symp mirage) and then proceeded to hit fairy ripstein a few times.

that trick felt so good!

i'm still happy about that frankenstein...showed it to alex the other day as well, so i'm glad that it wasn't a one time thing.

today's session was okay...new combos i can remember were spinning legover>fairy legover, spinning legover>legbeater.

as today's last and new trick i hit pixie motion. i guess that's the cheapest six add in the footbag world. ;P

thanks for the challenge, ken. i have to work on my flipside spinning first though...but i will.

so, i'm back from madrid!!

i had a really great time there!!
on the one hand it was really sad that it were such small european footbag championships, but on the other hand, i totally love small tournaments.

i'm not going to write a full-write-up or something...rather a few things from my perspective...

it was really sad to see that many people stopped playing. what's especially sad is that tina isn't really playing anymore.

she was such a great inspiration and such a worthy world champion!! it doesn't feel fair to compete without her...she's so good that she totally deserves to win and it was so good for the sport that she pushed it hard!
she still hit an awesome routine though...i guess some people can just play without even practising...
however, i was still happy to shred with her for half an hour.

i'm disappointed about my competition performance. i didn't compete in routines, but i wanted to do well in circle. well, i played really, really bad in both circle and shred30. i espcially feel bad about winning women's shred30 with such a very bad score!! i would have prefered to hit a good score and get last. but it's totally my fault, i should really start perparing a shred30.
all my events took place on friday. my legs were really light that day (i took a 2 day long break from sports) and i played very well when warming up. even my test runs in circle competition were good, just when the competition started, i played really bad. i guess competing's nothing for me...i think it's also, because there's no footage of me and people don't know that i'm actually a quite decent player, i want to show that i can still shred, which obviously stresses me...
people gave me props for things like pdx whirl*2 in circle comp, so i guess i really am a bit underrated.

as my main goal was to shred with a lot of people, i played like 4 hours on friday.

the result were really sore legs on saturday...but as my goal was to shred a lot, i had to shred a lot.

i played for like 45 minutes and hit the only new combo that i tried (stepping ss whirl>motion). after that i judged routines. i was really impressed with renés routine. it was technically so hard!! so much shuffle!!
rené told me that he hit frankenstein after he read in my footblog that i've hit that moves. makes me really proud that i inspired such a great player.

was happy to show frankenstein to some people.

and vasek still can shred!! he hit a dropless routine! and i had the honour to shred with him and ales for a bit.

i was also really impressed by wiktor's and ken's routines!
on sunday i also wanted to shred a bit, but had to discover that my legs were totally dead. two days of hardcore shredding were too much...guess i'm getting old.

i switched to football though and had a lot of fun playing football!! i really love that sport.

i loved how chilled the tournament was!! we got up really late, had a really late breakfast/lunch, chilled some more, went to the event side, played a lot of footbag until late at night, had some late dinner and beer etc.

and i'm really proud that 11 people from footbag-vienna came to the tournament!! out of those 11 people, just hanna's friend didn't play footbag. at least footbag in vienna's not dead!!

puhhh...went to get my yellow-fever-vaccination today...i'm supposed to not do sports for a week, because of the side effects of this vaccination...don't know if i'll really stick to that...
in 1 1/2 weeks paul and i are off to africa!! hurray!! and on the 1st of september we'll move to copenhagen...so, i'm really stressed these days...have to organize so much....

edit: just noticed that i forgot to mention hania! she totally stepped up her game this year!

and she gave me a great spikey red bag as a birthday present!! thank you so much, hania!!

i was great to hang out with her again!

Good to hear Footbag is going strong in Vienna....how many people went to Euros? Those 11 probably made up a big chunk of the tournament!

That's no good to hear about Tina not playing anymore....she is so good! I would have loved to go to Spain, this year would have been a good one to come to Europe, but I have plenty of other travels, let's see about next year...

I thought Euro's gonna be big because it seemed to me that a lot of people chose to go there instead of worlds.. I think it's kinda stupid they're so close together. If they were farther apart I'd probably attend both.

I think it's great that you competed anyways, even if it didn't go so well. You know your worth as a player, a bad competition doesn't change that. At least you gave it a shot. As a non-competing player, I salute your courage

It was great seeing you in Madrid. You shred so hard! I really enjoyed seeing your sideline shred. I thought you played well in the first round of circle, but I didn't see finals. Playing well in competition definitely is a challenge. I've been competing for 14 years now, and I still have moments when competition gets to me, and I play about 1/3 as well as I know I can.

Anyway, just wanted to say it was great to hang out, and I'm glad we got to shred on Sunday with Ales and Vasek. That was a fun circle for sure.

just came back from africa!! i'm really tired...i'm awake for almost 24 hours now. had a great time in uganda!! the month was over way too fast...would have loved to continue travelling...however, since i'm moving to denmark so soon, i'm not too sad to be back home.

this time i managed to play some footbag...
i was mainly trying to work on my flip stepping set...
here are some combos (not so impressive, but my stepping set is slowly getting better):

clip far motion>pdx whirl>pdx blender
stepping ss whirl>blurry whirl
whirl>blurry drifter
food processor
blurry whirl>blurry whirl>pdx blender

i hope to play footbag with the footbag-vienna crew soon!!
however, our luggage got probably lost at cairo airport and i have no footbag shoes. as paul left our key in his backpack, we can't get into our apartment...the only spare key is with my parents and they are on holidays...staying at anita's place right now...

oh no, hope they find your luggage soon....isn't that how it always works, one thing goes wrong and then there is always something more to come after that!

That's pretty exciting about going to move to Denmark. If I get to Europe next year I will have to come and visit there....I have another good friend that moved from Canberra to Copenhagen a while ago.
