damn... Getting kneed in the face like that could knock a person out. It's all about being able to do it in a real situation. But still.

Hi guys.

Midnight sesh with tim yesterday/today. i hit 27 osis, that might be my record, not that it matters. and 14 smears in a row. Though i'd liike to hit a bunch of pix ss mirages in a row. I feel like that should be easy.

The good news is that my groin injury has gotten better. It's still there, but it generally doesn't affect me playing. I am still working out rust since not playing for so many months though

September 2010: one year ago, my groin started hurting. Nothing major but slowly got worse then I feel like. I've never had any injuries really. I've considered myself pretty invincible. I would love to jump and run and try whatever. Having this injury though, makes me check myself before I try things. That hindrance... to want to run and have to walk... I just hate it. It's like tying up my soul or something, stifling my eagerness and happiness for life. I want to fuckin fly and have to lay there and stiffen up after time goes by... :-(

When I was in Florida in march, about the time I considered being active again after 3 months, I was in the Gulf of Meheeko doing flips. It's so fun. That sudden jump would give me pain sometimes though. Like a guitar string broke in my leg. I was afraid to try skimboarding even though it looked so fun, because if one leg stayed on the board an the other on the beach and legs spread apart, i would re-injure the shit even worse and cause more months of waiting and healing. Kicking in St Pete with Yuki and Allen. Was pretty fun, and in Tampa in general, though I kept it pretty simple with mirages and legovers - just getting back into it. i think i played about 4 times then.

I really did consider what it would be like to never play footbag again. After playing for half my life.

Then vegas jam, and i slowly started playing again. Then June came and Tim came back to chicago after years. We would play 1-2x a week at night in the hot summer nights of July. I sleep vampire hours and Tim mightve been similar, so we kicked at midnight a lot by the car dealership with bright lights or the walgreens that 'has cat ass'. so now that the days are getting shorter i can just wake up earlier and have the same amount of daylight.

Anyway - one year! it has been. And I guess my groin is better. Oone, fucking, YEAR! and guess what, it's not 100% It sucks so much. But I guess I'm just used to it now. And I guess it doesn't affect me playing footbag now actually. So that's great! But for an injury that came on from nothing exceptional to last so long is just such a bitch. I still feel slight pain when i rotate/stretch my leg inward.

Fuck it, I can literally run again :-). I'm not 100%, but maybe in time I'll be perfect.

Now this knee problem just started is another story >:-(

Losing the whole year has got to be agonizing. I'm glad you haven't had too many injuries. We're kind of in the same boat, I've been battling nagging pains for over a year now, too. There are definitely sessions where I think things like this:

But then I think, I can't quit now, I haven't hit [insert goal here] yet. Its nice to be type A sometimes. And like you said, I don't want to miss out on kicking with all the people who moved here recently.

ayeshtud.

after 2 weeks of not playing cuz knee was weird, i kicked yesterday with tim. And I hung out with Brian. And he called out links which was fun. I hit a new move: tapping DLO. The next day (today) my knee magically didn't bother me at all. Footbag fixed it! played again today. it's actually not fully fixed, but somehow better - which is tits mcgee

Yep.

Played footbag today with David Castillo. He's a very gracious host, and a very solid footbag player.

I'm going to Austrian Champs.

Let's try this month in review thing that Zeke used to do.

January
New year's Jam just ended. I played with Evan, Anssi and Aleksi on a post NYJ day. I was rusty, and didn't really play much during the event, but it was nice to be in that circle anyhow. I guess I should do a NYJ writeup. I still have pics too. I haven't posted pics from my travels in general since OCT/NOV.

Chicago had some 20 something degree days with crazy wind downtown. It was nice to head to sunny, warm Florida for all of January. Even coming back yesterday I noticed how grey the sky was, and how that was never the case in FL.

Played enough footbag to shake off the rust- maybe 6 times, though I used my non-modded lavers. Tom W. isn't playin now with the new baby, but I met up with Allen and Brandon. The tampa scene. They're hecky cool guys. You might not have heard of them , since they don't post online. I found them on .org last year. I may see Brandon again in May when he visits MI, along with Zach.

Speaking of Zach, man I wanna go to Vegas Jam too. Zach and Cory especially are my homies. And of course Evan is there. And Mathieu is going, wow. plus flash, ken, nate. Maybe even T-Bone. CIC reprezent. I think this year will be really good. Though I doubt I will make it though.
I have been mostly traveling since late October, so it's time to make some more travel funds.

So in general I played a bit of footbag in JAN. More importantly Road tripped Florida, went to Disney World - 4 parks in one day, saw Dan in Miami, swam at south beach with some pretty good waves to flip and dive into, saw dexter's condo, then drove to the florida keys and snorkeled and saw some cool reef and scary big (for me) baracuda fish, then airboated thru the gators and birds in the everglades, then back to surfing a flow-rider which I've always wanted to do. All with great company.

So yea for February 'goals', I'm down to play some footbag, though with my car being broke and it being cold february, I can play in my sister's garage when she's at work, and maybe I can find a spot at the community college near my house to play with others. 2 days a week for sure at the same time every week for florida would be good. Let's see if i can find a spot to make that happen. I'd like to hang with zeke and reile more too, even though they don't play. So at least once a week for that to happen. Keep dis club strong.

P.S. looking at my last post, I won 4 square at austrian champs. yay.
