Hahaha so true, Ian!

Well, today was eventful, to say the least...

I went to work and today was the day I put my 2 weeks notice in... AFTER 7 YEARS OF WORKING THERE. My boss is like a second mom to me. I have my own breakfast food named after me and on the menu. I've seen this place in the best of times and the worst of times. And I'm finally leaving... My boss was upset. I was upset. Such a hard thing to do. But to cheer spirits up at work today, my boss and I devised a prank where she would "yell" at me about something I messed up in my work schedule and I would argue about it until I "got super pissed". Then she said, "I don't need your crap anymore, so you can go home if you want!" I replied, "Screw this, I'm going to Penn State soon anyway!", threw the cup I was holding into the sink, grabbed my keys and "stormed" out of there, then hid behind a bush next to the cafe. I saw some of my co-workers come out and look for me, while I'm sitting behind a bush trying not to laugh. My co-worker/friend, Connor, ran across the street toward my car, so then I ran back inside and my boss and I started laughing. All the waitresses thought the fight was dead serious. Then Connor came back in and we acted like I never left, to screw with his head. Good day. At the end of the day, my boss pulled me aside and gave me some terrible news. I'll reveal it when it happens. It upset both of us.

After work, I kicked with Jackson, Nick P, and Drew today in front of Dick's Sporting Goods. The workers inside were amused by us and they gathered at the store window to watch us. Drew's drilling is paying off. His Drifters, Whirls, and Rakes are coming along so nicely. Lots of other stuff is getting more dialed for Drew, as well. Nick P was looking good with some BSOS Gyro Mirages and some longer runs and Jackson hit some stuff like Ducking Osis> Stepping set. Once he drills more basics, he's gonna pull that shit out all the time. We all turned some heads of people walking in and out of the store. Definitely a fun shred session. Oh and on the way back from Dick's, I drove past this hot chick with the same exact car as me... Piss Yellow Hyundai Accent. I beeped at her and gave her a thumbs up and she beeped at me and waved. Total soul mate moment right there lol

Highlights:

 So close to BSOS'ing Whale Tail. That tricks is feeling way easier for me now. Psyched on that.
 Dustpan> DLO bs
 Some other nice long strings that felt very controlled

After the session, Jackson and I used my plunger and practiced double dexes in my pool. It worked great. Can't wait to practice again. Oh but, while we were in the Dick's parking lot leaving to go home, I yelled to Jackson, "HEY WHEN WE GET HOME, YOU WANNA USE THE TOILET PLUNGER TO PRACTICE ONE-LEGGED DOUBLE DEXES IN MY POOL?!?!" I got some strange looks for that one. (And on a side note, my kitten escaped from the yard when we were plunger drilling and hasn't returned and it's been like 5 hours... Really worried. Actually trying to take my mind off of it by blogging. Maybe when I finish he'll be waiting on the porch. I can only hope... I'm being optimistic about it, but it's hard..) Later, Jackson and I walked down to Phoenixville and kicked in front of the public. When we got there, these kids told us that Phoenixville put a ban on "Hacky Sack"... Good thing we play "Footbag"... Those fuckers. That's gotta be THE fucking stupidest rule I've ever heard being enforced. Oddly enough, while we were kicking, a cop rode his bike right by us and looks right at us shredding and flailing our legs like crazy, then continues on without saying a word. PWNED.

Highlights:

 FOG!!! Strong only. Footed weakside a few times. Legs got tired after a while. Muh.
 Even longer strings than the previous shred session. Felt great!
 Ended session on Backside Smear BSOS

It was really cool, at the end of our session, this girl walks up to us and says "Is that a hacky sack?" We didn't wanna complicate things, so we said "yeah!" She replies, "I used to do a little bit of that in highschool, can I play with you guys?" We welcomed her to our 2 man circle. She used her knees quite a bit, and she could really keep it going. Cool to see. We asked her if she'd ever played soccer, since she used her knees so much, and she said that she hadn't. Even cooler. Usually soccer player hack with their knees, but she just picked it up from kicking a footbag. Sweet. She had flip-flops on, so she took them off to kick. Jackson took of his shoes too, to level playing fields a little. I joined them. The girl, Christine, hit her first toe stalls! We prop'd her.

Highlights:

 Eggbeater that felt Vasek-esque. I really chopped the air with my illusion. Felt nice to know what Vasek was talking about in his manual finally.
 Had some ok runs... for being in barefeet.
 Best trick hit... BAREFOOT RIPSTEIN!!!! So rad. No cheating that swirl dex there at all lol

Just checked the back door and my kitten was waiting there. I'm so relieved. I opened the door and he came running inside, then started rubbing his head on the table leg, like nothing ever happened. Little bastard... Well, like I said, eventful day, to say the least. Just glad it ended on that positive note. I can rest easy tonight... Now it's time for footbag videos with Jackson :D

So I was surfing Modified last night, when I stumbled upon a post from a new member in the forum... "Catopillar" from.... OH SHIT! PENNSYLVANIA!?!? I immediately pm'ed him and long story short, he lives like 10 minutes away from me, he's already got Lavers, and he has a friend who is interested in learning freestyle footbag, as well. Annnddd, Bob and I are meeting up with them tomorrow at Bob's shred barn. So rad. I can't wait to meet these guys. I always get so stoked when there are new players getting into the sport.. especially if they live 10 minutes away from me!

Aside from that, I saw a video from Ben Benulis where he is recommending that players eat more bananas... like 30 a day! He gave instructions on how to make "Banana Milk". I followed them and made it. That shit is off the hook. It's just bananas blended up with water, but damn. It tastes so good. I tested it out on Jackson, too.

Jackson went back to his house to do some shit, but I think we're supposed to drill soon.

Jackson and I have been working on my ceiling all day. We've been tearing down tiles from the ceiling for a little while now... We took some footage:

(The video is a spoof on Turtle Man of Kentucky:

On a bad bad bad note... I stepped on a bee earlier... got that shit right in the toe, and my first thought was "NO FOOTBAG?!" but thankfully, it feels much better. Meeting Jeremy ("Catopillar" on modfied) for the first time tonight at Bob's barn. Plus Jackson is coming and Bob will be there! Can't wait to see Bob.

Got back from Bob's a while ago. Fun sesh with Bob, Jackson, and the new guy, Jeremy. Jeremy started playing 2 weeks ago. He's already got madd solid foundation on basic kicks and he's got toe stalls consistent. We taught him inside, cloud kick, clipper kick, flying inside, atw kick and some other one adds. Oh and he's got great bothsidedness already. He also hit Legover kick bs and miraging kick. He'll start getting more tricks soon. I can tell. The dude's got great crank too and he's a really quick learner. He'd never hit a flip inside stall before he walked in the door, but by the end of the session, he was nailing them bsos in kickless strings like a champ. I let him borrow my Tricks of the Trade DVD. I hope he gets a lot out of that. he also stitched his own bags and they're damn good for a beginner... hell, they're damn good for an intermediate stitcher. Oh and his hair is purple, which was funny because last year, my hair was purple. Really cool, genuine dude. Trying to meet up with him again later in the week.

Tonight, we all just drilled and did a little freestyling at the end...

Highlights:

 I told Jeremy to choose a 5 add from the my masterlist, and he chose Pixie Dyno, which I hit 2nd try. Not bad.
 Hit my 2nd Fog to start a pretty sweet run. This trick is starting to feel like it will be butter when I drill Pdx DLO.

As for my earlier bee sting, it was a nuisance throughout the whole session. Atomics were a pain, because when I rose onto my toes, I felt a slightly painful sensation. Errr.. Whatever. I have ice on it now. Hopefully it'll feel better by tomorrow.

Glad to have added a new member to our footbag crew. I'm spent. Peace.

Played with Corey this evening. He hit his first Paradon. Looked really clean. That kid is coming along nicely. I tried some hard stuff that I came close to but I'm just not ready for it yet, and I've accepted that. No big highlights from me, just busted some big tiltless and some guiltless mixed with tiltless. Wanted to take it easy on my legs, because...

After Corey and my session, I drove straight to Bob's. We drilled a lot. Bob's drills are really paying off for him. He hit DOD for his 2nd - 6th time.. all in a row. He also really improved on inspinning.

Highlights:

 Hit my first DOD on strong side only after Bob tried his.
 Breakthrough on Tootsie Rolls, Inspinning, and Heel Delays!!!
 Had a long run with nothing but heel delays clippers, osis, and some other 2 adds. The majority of it was heel stalls.
 Heeliosis bs!
 Heel delay> Ducking Clipper bs
 And to top it all off... I hit a huge dream trick.... HOLY ROLLER!!! (That's Jon, but hopefully I can get video of myself hitting it soon)

Tomorrow I have a session planned with Jeremy. He actually contacted me.. which means he's genuinely into footbag. SWEET. I'm probably gonna bring Corey and maybe Drew and we'll be teaching him some more stuff. Anyway, heading outside to drill more. L8R.

Thanks Tony! I always thought it looked so awesome, but no one ever does them, except Jon.

K, so I just finished my third (and last) session of the day... And I'm most excited about some of the highlights in this one.

Highlights (all of which were under a dim streetlight):

 Gyro Frigid Heel bs
 Butterheel bs
 Stepping (Front) Heel bs
 Alternating (Front) Heel Delay x5! Kinda hyped on this one. Really want heels to be like a toe stall for me eventually. I have a newfound love of heel delays.
 And the highlight of my entire day... Flipside Swirling Gyro Mirage I was effing RELENTLESS on this one. I'm not going to lie, I spent such a long time trying this one to end my session. It was so hard because it was under a streetlight and I had to set the swirl just right or else it would be set into a dim spot. SUCKED. I almost called it quits... a few times, but something wouldn't let me stop trying it. I footed it a shitload of times before actually hitting it clean... But look at the bright side of trying that over and over and over again... My flip swirling gyro feels just about up to par with my strongside. Win.

After I hit that, I ran inside, through my backyard, and jumped into my pool fully-clothed. That felt so nice. I was DRENCHED in sweat before I jumped in too. Anyway, there you have it... Have what, you may be asking yourself? "IT", sir/madam... "IT". It is a good thing to have. Live it. Love it. Enjoy it. Do it. But don't do it too hard. You might get it stuck...

Last time I jumped into the pool right after a session, I cramped my back so bad I was out for 2 weeks. Ahh. To be young again, and also a robot...

Damn. Thanks for the warning on that one. I did a short stretch sesh before I jumped in. I've never had my back cramp, but I've jumped in after a shred and I pulled a wicked charlie horse. Ride 'em, cowboy

Tonight, I kicked with Jeremy and Corey. Funny that Jeremy hasn't even met half of our crew yet. Plus, I still haven't met his friend that wants to start footbagging. Looking forward to that.

Jeremy is showing signs that he's improving quickly. Tonight, he hit his first clippers on both sides, bsos clipper, mirage bs, and Legover on strongside. He really grasps techniques quickly and understands how your legs act as a mechanism. Plus he's got great crank. I asked him to mimic a dragon delay tonight.... DUDE... I forsee effortless dragons in Jeremy's future. Kinda funny because Bob said the same thing to me when I had my first session with him.

He said that he's having fun so far, and I told him "that's what it's all about". Glad he's enjoying himself with his new hobby.

I didn't really play that well tonight. Wasn't trying to kill it tonight really. I hit some 5's and I hit some ok tiltless/guiltless runs.

Highlights:

 2nd DOD I've ever hit
 Alternating Heel Delay x7
 PS Whirl with Corey's keys...

Corey was DAMN close to Dimmiest... So many times.

Session with Bob tomorrow. Peace.

Freestyled with Bob and Corey tonight. Played pretty ok, but I'm gonna cut to the chase here. No more fucking about playing weakstyle pussybag. Time to crack down on something that I've neglected for long enough. Tomorrow had better be the day. I'm solo seshing for a while tomorrow until I achieve my goal.

106 Tiltless contacts on the 6th or 7th try That's been one of my biggest achievements in freestyle footbag since I've started playing...

And I'm nowhere near finished... Actually, I just started....

Edit: Took a small rest, then got 102 in the next few shots. Dropped on Merkon... Dumb ass.

Yo thanks Tony. You can do it too. Just keep practicing your basics and you're on your way!

So I kept trying to break 100 at least one more time before calling it quits. COULD NOT MANAGE IT AGAIN. I got dreadfully close at 85, 78, and even one time I had 94! But I thought a car was coming and I did a spinning toe and tried to look up to check for a split second... no car, missed the toe stall. Fuck. Toward the end, I was SO tired. I realized it wasn't going to happen again, since I could barely muster up enough strength to hit clippers. After a while, the bag just feels SO heavy on your foot. It sucks.

Tips for anyone else trying to break 100 Tiltless:

 When you get to 50, mentally restart your run at 1, even though you will be on 51. Thanks Vasek.
 Try to do a lot of repeat combos. Makes it easier to think through it. (ie. Clipper> ss Clipper> Ducking Clipper rpt, legover> legover> pickup> pickup rpt)
 Use Osis, Spinning Toe, Ducking Toe, Pixie Toe, and Flapper Kick when you're tired
 Oddly enough, sometimes you can use Stepping op Toe to pump yourself up and give you a burst of energy.
 DON'T THINK ABOUT GETTING TO 100
 Remember, Spinning Knee Bump is still a 2 add

So since I had to end my session after being so tired, I didn't want to go inside until I hit a new repeat drill. Thought of a good one and hit it.

End-O-Sesh Highlight:

 Revup> Dimwalk rpt (also the first time I've hit Pixie set out of a revup. Not as hard as I thought.)

I like that drill a lot. Going to start messing with it.

Session with Drew and Jeremy at 7.

Hey. I just came back from an interesting session with Jeremy and Drew. It was Jeremy's first time meeting Drew. It's really cool that Jeremy is getting to meet all of these players already. Anyway, it was a blast. I was still a little brain-dead from all of the tiltless stuff earlier on, but I overcame it at one point.

Highlights:

 My most memorable string was yadda yadda> flip toe whirl> yadda yadda> Blur> strong toe whirl> yadda yadda> Vortex> yadda. Not very memorable, I guess :P
 Also had some pretty ok strings.
 Oh yeah and the other day, when I kicked with Jeremy and Corey, I remembered something pretty cool that I hit... Phoenix to start a run, Assassin midsting. Felt cool.

Jeremy hit his first Butterfly! And he linked it right to flip clipper! Pretty awesome haha Oh and he hit some more legovers and Pickup on strong. Shit, he also hit his first Guays and Hopover bs. He's really improving quickly.

Drew has been drilling and it's really showing through. More consistent with everything. Very snappy tonight. Looked awesome.

On a side note, there was this group of little kids who asked if they could kick a bag around. I let them use my Sandmaster. They all lost interest after a little while, except this one little dude. He could kick it around 5 times, alternating feet. He seemed really interested in footbag, because he kept asking questions about things. At one point he was asking about names, and I told him they start out kind of uncool-sounding like "fairy", "pixie", and "Butterfly", but as you work your way up, they get cooler names like "Phoenix" and "Ripped Warrior". In a little 10 year old voice with a speech impediment, he replies, "Can I see Wipped Wallior?" It was THE best footbag quote I've ever heard. So I tried to hit Ripped for him, but I was so tired... So I turn to him, out of breath after a few tries and say (in a really excited and stoked voice) "You wanna see Mobius instead?!" He excitedly said yes, I hit it and he said "That was AWESOME!" I ended up giving him that Sandmaster so he could practice at home. He introduced himself later as "Colton", we exchanged numbers, and I told him I'd let him know next time we kicked there, since he lived right down the street. New Vasek? Maybe, maybe not. Has the word of footbag been spread yet again? Indubitably.

It's so nice to see footbag spreading all over the place around here. Hope to see more of it in the future. Jeremy has become a new dedicated member to the crew. He's always down to footbag. I asked him when he could kick again, and he excitedly replied, "Tomorrow?" Looking forward to it.

Haha Nice Paul. Thanks, glad you liked that video. I have some advice for competing (not that I'm very good at it, but I've competed a few times and done pretty well in intermediate, as you've seen from the video... Open is a different story :P)

Number one tip I can give while competing:

 Just have fun. Try to do your best but don't think about winning. You're just doing this for the fun of it. If you win, sweet. If you lose, well, woops, train harder and better luck next time!
 If you find yourself in an Open circle with Jay Boychuk, bring a diaper, just in case, you'll need it.

Ok, so when I got home from work, my friends and I were supposed to have this big ass ultimate frisbee game, but everyone bailed lol This screw-up gave me a good reason to foobag my whole effing day away :P

I drilled a lot of basic stuff for the beginning, then I experimented and tried to get some new tricks under my belt. Too hot out, so I just played in my livingroom which was just redone. Nice amount of shred space.

Highlights:

 Drifter> Xbd Rake> Dustpan BS
 Spinning Flapper BSOS
 Cloud Delay> Tootsie Roll> Blender BS!
 Inside Tootsie Roll> Heel Delay BSOS
 Gyro Mirage> Pixie op Clipper rpt
 Gyro Frigid Heel BSOS
 Gyro Swirl (New trick, strong only)
 Ss Butterfly Swirl (New trick, strong only)
 Flipside Symp Swirl!!! (New on flip! This has been a big hole in my game for quite some time.. Hit it a good handful of times to make sure I knew how to do it)
 Flapper> Osis rpt x5
 Frigid Heel> Blender BS!
 Frigid Heel> Reverse Tootsie Roll> Squeeze (I think Bruce Dole does something similar to this, but Outside stall rather than Frigid Heel. Thanks for the idea, Bruce.)
 Frigid Heel> ss Symp Swirl BS
 Knee Bump> Far Symp Swirl (strong only :( Weakside is definitely not that good yet)
 Flipside Far Symp. Swirl!!! (New on flip!!!)
 Slowly figuring Atomic sets out. Good Atomic sets are like little weasels that you try to catch in the forest but you just can't seem to catch them until one day you figure out where they live and you can finally catch them all and take them home and make them your slaves for the rest of your life. They think they're sneaky... but they're not so sneaky... little pricks.

And the best session enders I've ever hit...

 Ss Symp Swirl BSOS!!!
 Far Symp Swirl BSOS!!!

John Goode and Zach Jahner are the inspirations for all the symp swirls of this session. Thanks guys! Really pleased with today's improvements.

Work tomorrow, then I'm probably kicking with Jeremy.

Peaf!

Thanks John! I remembered your symp swirls from our kaybagging sesh and it made me want to try it flipside.

I went on a 3 hour Kayak trip with my Dad prior to kicking. Two pretty funny things happened:

1) We were paddling along and my Dad yells "Turtles!" and points to something around the corner that I couldn't yet see. I paddle over and he's pointing and yelling "Turtles!" at a family of ducks... to make matters even better, there were people watching and observing this happening from the shore... Nice.

2) Slightly further into our trip, there is a road the runs parallel to the river and a lady rides her bike by us. There is a baby strapped to her back. She looks at us and excitedly exclaims (as if to teach her baby a new word) "Kayaks!" I look back at her from my kayak and excitedly exclaim, "Bikes!" My dad and I had a laugh, but I don't think that lady thought it was very funny.

Tonight, I played like dogvomit. Don't know why, maybe I wore myself out with the session yesterday. That was Loonnnnnngggg. Coulda been the sundae I ate before the session. Either way, just got back from a session with Corey & Jeremy. Jeremy is still improving like crazy. He nailed Near Mirage BS (first time for each side) and ATW BS (first time for each side)... then I guess he got bored with ATW because he BSOS'ed it like it was his duty. It's great watching him improve so damn quickly. Corey was stringing pretty well tonight. He's really been avoiding toe bails, which makes me happy to see.

I hit a new trick... because I couldn't string tonight...

Highlights:

 Flipside Assassin

 2 Flipside ss Symp Swirls. At least these are stating to feel easier.

I realized I really need to crack down on my Drifters. They suck.

Probably seshing with Jeremy and Corey tomorrow... Maybe Drew if he's feeling better. Maybe Bob?

Tha End.

Edit: I can't believe I forgot this... Corey hit Frantic Toe tonight.... a bunch of times. I don't know what it is with him, but he's really good at uptime double dexes. Can't wait to see him hit some insane shit in the future.
