bags 10 through 14 I've stitched. First one blue/black is abit bigger than the rest and 60 grams. The rest are all 57 grams.

I actually have the orange/dark blue bag sitting next to me in my pile of footbags

Bought it off of Jeremy the other day. I gotta say, the dude stitches GREAT bags for just starting out. Awesome size too. Jeremy (Catopillar) is definitely an upcoming stitcher (and player). I HIGHLY recommend his bags. Since he's joined our PA Crew, he's been stitching like crazy, and it's inspired me to start stitching again... So here's my latest work:

60 grams, Amaretta hexes (Light Brown & Light Blue) & USL Pents (Paisley). Very pancakey. I'm extremely happy with this one.

Finished this off last night. Sold on Ebay. I really hope it holds up for the buyer. Blue is "butter suede" (the thinnest synthetic suede i've seen yet)
it's not a pattern on the fabric, but the weave...
it's almost see through when stretched taught.
65g~ish Stainless shot and seed bead filler.

Stitched 2 (#24 & #25) bags today... Both 2-stitches

Fun story behind each one...

I've been saying that I was going to stitch a bag for my neighbor/best friend/shred partner, Jackson Raap for quite some time now. I just never felt comfortable with my stitching up until recently. So I finally gave a bag a whack for him...

THE BADNESS:

I stitched the bag posted above for Jackson today. It's made of some REALLY cheapo shitty Microfiber knock-off or something, because when I finished it, it started fraying up on us as soon as I gave it to him, and it started leaking... FUUUUUU..... So I cut it open and extracted the shot then went to town on another one...

THE RADNESS:

After an hour and a half, I put the final closing stitch on this baby. As soon as I cut the final thread and made the sounds of a baby crying (I like to do that as a tradition every time I finish a bag, because it's like cutting the umbilical cord

), I dropped it on the table and exclaimed "This is the best fucking footbag I've ever stitched in my entire life!" I was so hyped on this one and I still am... Jackson came over to claim it and was astonished. He wouldn't stop talking about it. It made me feel really good that my stitching was finally getting almost flawless. Anyway, yeah, exquisitely happy with this one.

1.5 hours is no time!! Good work. A bit more work to tension your pents evenly, and they'll look awesome!

Here's another 32 I just finished for a trade with Lotus @ Elemental Footbags.
Softest bag to date. Also my first 3 colour 32. 60g.
ps. Lotus, I hope you don't mind seeing it here first. Will be in the mail asap.

Tell us about your fill - what's in it, how much does it weigh per bag, and what percentage do you fill to?

My latest bags have all been 57-58 grams filled with size 9 lead shot. They are about 50% full. I think they are on the smaller side compared to most. I wish I had a golf ball to compare lol.

Here is one next to a quarter.

I finished my second USL 32 panel tonight. I'm really disapointed with it and will be emptying the filler so as not to waste it. I need to make a smaller template as this one is huge. I'm not sure how much smaller to make it though.

Bleed holes are way to big in this one. I'm not sure if tightening the gather would have helped that or not. I think I want to make smaller bags as a hole. And I'm thinking of switching to 2 stitch just for the time it takes to make them. I need to pump out a few so that I can make some that are good and usable as my usable stock is dwindling due to holes and I don't have the cash to buy new bags even though there are about 6 stitchers bags I would love to try.

Stitching advice?

I reckon make yourself a new template. You'll want about 20mm long sides if you cut your pieces on the lines, and about 15mm if you stitch on the lines.
And whichever way you do, you want no more that about 5mm between the 2 threads at the short sides of your hex's.
This will give you a fairly much golfball size, which you can adjust slightly either way with more or less gather.

Yeah Tony, I agree, smaller panels will produce a smaller bag for you.

I took the day off from playing to let my legs rest up and Jeremy (Catopillar) came over my place and we had a stitch-session in my screen-house. Jeremy stitched a really nice bag tonight.. you'll see that soon enough. It plays so nice. I stitched this my new best bag tonight...

So here are a few bags I've been working on.
They all have a bit of a story..

I was inspired to make this 26 after completing a set of 14p juggling balls for myself. They were so nice and easy to make, I thought this would be fun.
It took me about a month between stitching this bag and finishing it. I just didn't enjoy making this design, and I don't really think it looks very good either.

This 32 is because I was so pleased with my last one I wanted one just like it for myself.

And I have a few idea's for new patterns on a 42 panel bag. This one can be made 3, 5 or 9 colours, I just only have 3 good ones atm.

Here's a funky picture:

Experimented on a low-gather Pakistani-style sewing method. Pents are microsuede and hexes are from an old Elemental Freestyler 32. For hex I made an extra hole on each end to accommodate for bleedholes.

Now the completed product(s):

Left is the finished product, and made for a large floppy 32 that sits like a rock. Filled with lead and poly. Right is another refurbished bag I made (orange is facile, hexes again from an old and unused Elemental Freestyler 32), filled with only lead. Both weigh in at 77.7 grams.

And here's my unproudest achievement

:

A 92-panel bag made completely out of microsuede. Green got unsaturated by the lighting. Some places have the bleedholes folding because of the silver microsuede and the overall shape is oblong. I used size 12 lead shot, so it more than feels underfilled. Weighs in at 111.1 grams of lead and poly (3.92 ounces). It's going to some tournament in some part of the midwest happening sometime next week.

Thats a Great idea there to re-use the pieces from another bag.
How time consuming was it to remove all of the stitching? And did it damage the original pieces much?? I'm interested to know how durable they are after re-stitching.

The white/red refurbished 32 has white hexes that are like meshed denim. Pretty strong, but it stiffens the bag. The grey/orange's hexes are little bit like amaretta except it has a really rough underside. Re-sewing is a bit awkward because the holes made by the previous stitcher used a thicker thread and needle and more technique around the area, putting more stress on the aforementioned holes. Both bags were sewn with a single thin line of rib-stitch thread.

With enough gather, even for low gather, you can essentially hide the extravagant holes on the reused fabric, but it still shows with a small pull on tue panels. Nothing detrimental about it, and no fill leaking.

The orange/grey bag is made under our understanding of how bags are usually made; it happened to be constructed like a 2 stitch. The white/red is how bags are made under the Elemental Footbags' method, with the exception of adding in bleedholes.

The way bags are made is remarkable. The Pakistani version has better corners than lines (as you can see from the first and second picture), but harder to make decent lines of gather. What we're accustomed to is pretty much the flipside of their method.

made in amsterdam, i gave it to jay "the creator" boychuck

also made in amsterdam, the purple radiation on the way to helsinki and the blur one on the way back. the blur one is a instashred experiment, its instashred, but i dont like it. also its pretty big. i will keep the purple radiation, the blur is up for grabs
