Your progress looks amazing dude, keep it up!

Really like seeing you drilling basics, master your 2's both sides and you will be thankful. God speed!

So a couple of days ago I was shredding alone and my favorite footbag got stuck on the ceiling of the nearby community college's basketball court.
Image
I have no clue how to get it down. I might just leave it up there. It was a dragonfly Assassin 32 panel metal footbag. It turns out Dragonfly bags get a bad rap, but their website is too amazing to not be sold a bag to a newbie such as myself.

The good news is that I ordered a bag from Hania and it should arrive in a couple of days.
Image
This will be the very first *real* footbag to hit my feet.

I also ordered some black Rod Lavers in size 11 and it turns out they weren't mesh and have a leather toe. I am planning on returning them tomorrow unless I get lazy about it.

Now it is time to just wait for the weather to at least cool off at night. The heat is TOO DAMN HIGH!

Thanks for the replies! Didn't realize people still read this stuff.

PoisonTaffy: Reddit! Thank you for the encouragement! I love reading your blog and watching your videos!

Pasquar: Thanks! I can't learn a trick unless I can do it both sides. Skateboarding habits.

Kevin: Which month are you moving in? I have NO ONE to kick with. In fact I have never met a footbagger outside my friend who introduced me to the sport (who now lives in L.A.)

Regarding the footbag in the rafters, contact Drew Martin -- he's a pro.

Good chance I'm in Phx the 12th and 13th of September. Night of the 12th I could likely play. Let me know if it's a possibility to meet up, and maybe we can get together.

Hey Mike! It was great meeting up with you. Sucks about the weather, but the session was better than nothing. Looking forward to seeing you at the jam this weekend. Also, don't forget to add me as a friend in TF2, so we can play with Eric Chang in the future. I play most nights. My username is just my last name.

I finally found a spare moment where I can make a post in here. Last week was a milestone in footbag. I met Ken Somolinos on the 13th of Sept. which was the first time I have ever met a footbagger in my life, excluding my two friends who moved out. He was nice, supportive, and really good!

On Friday I flew out to Vegas with my wife for the Jizzam. I met everyone there and had a blast! They taught me a lot about form and pointed out things that might be holding me back from progressing in the sport. Ken and Evan gave us rides to the venue, our hotel, and back to the airport. They are really nice guys! Brian Bear sold me a purple and yellow footbag. It is the best thing I have ever used. It was shocking to see the level of skill everyone there had. Most of the time I just watched in awe as they pulled tricks I have never seen before. Great times!

Now there is about an hour of footage that will be sorted and uploaded. Links can be found below.

Thanks for the great weekend!

Been practicing clippers all week. In Vegas I learned that my style and form was WAY off. Good thing I learned this now and not years down the road. I can get consecutive strong clippers for as long as I want. The flip side still needs work. 2xDex is down on my strong side, it is about time too!

Here is a little video I put together of the Vegas Jizzam. It was a great time!

Kicked alone last night for 10 minutes. I had a giant box of nerds before I went out. That may be the reason I only kicked for 10 minutes. No energy, couldn't hit anything, and feeling like I was going to throw up the entire time. NERDS: NEVER AGAIN.

After work I am going to meet up with my first Arizonan footbagger. I am super excited! He lives 40 miles away but we planned to meet in the middle at a park. Should be a really good time!

Left clippers are still feeling really unnatural.
My right clippers are solid right now.
I felt sick when I started doing Mirage drills. Holy crap those are tiring.
2-dex on strong side are 1/3 now, instead of 1/50.
Working on form and flip side and sticking to basics.

Someday this will get easier. These are rough days. I bend over to pick up the footbag more often than I make contacts, lol. Yet it is still fun!

The payoff is totally worth it. And you're approaching things well and learning quickly, so definitely stick with it.

I'll stick with it, Ken.

My fellow Arizonan texted me today to shred. It was an awesome session with 75 degree weather. Yes that is right, 75 degrees! Last week we were in the +100s. Feels good, man.

Here are a couple of videos from today:

This was his first time being filmed. Pretty neat stuff. No matter what you do it looks awesome on the headcam. I will get more into it and make it shakeless.

Here is a new trick for me:

I still tend to hunch when I am trying new tricks or not paying attention to form. It will come soon. I still have grinch posture.

I landed 3 ripwalks! Setting is coming along quite smoothly.

Until next time!

Props on the ripwalks and DATW, Mike! You've really progressed recently. Also, glad to hear that you found someone to shred with. That will be beneficial to both of you guys. Keep the improvement videos coming!

On a 3 minute break in my Calc 3 class so I will edit and expand later.

Went to New York this weekend and joined a shred session with some of the NYFA guys. They were super nice and really good! I have a little bit of footage I will get up later.

I ended up sleeping 8 hours from Friday morning until Sunday afternoon. It was exhausting but life changing. Going to work on my flip side tonight. Damned flip sided clippers are my #1 weak point right now.

Back to class.

Edit:

Here is a small video of the guys from NY shredding for a little bit. Apologies to them because this was from six minutes of filming. It was made for fun and I think they did a great job!

Left clippers are coming along. I rolled my ankle last night doing step sets, yet I don't feel anything.

Today will be fun, I am meeting up with Kendall in Phoenix to shred! I have to go to work now.

Ken: Yes they are awesome! Thank you again for the referral.

Shredding with Kendall went pretty well tonight. It was very humbling. I feel like I am relearning everything I know. Clipper epiphanies were coming. I can feel osis becoming comfortable. I am learning slowly but at least it is progress.

My shin splints are coming back again with stepping sets. Bummer. Time to educate myself about these things.

This weekend I will be in Atlanta from Friday to Sunday morning. Are there any footbaggers in that area? I will do a search on here, just wondering if there are any obvious answers.
