Insanity Day 12: Cardio Power and Resistance

Can't say I was feeling it today. The warm up felt strained, but maybe that's because I'm not a fan of power jacks or vertical jumps in the warm up. I miss my jumping jacks and mummy kicks!! Anyways, kept pushing myself and did ok. I guess I'll find out in a few seconds when I check out the numbers from my HRM. One thing I really feel like I improved on is the globe jumps. They were my toughest in the fit test so I like that I'm feeling more confident with them. I also don't think I had to take a break in the last 8 and 8 tacked on the end.

Insanity Day 13: Pure Cardio and cardio Abs

Wow. I have trouble standing at the end of Pure Cardio. That Sh!t really is bananas, yo. But now we tack on an extra workout after. Luckily Cardio Abs isn't that much cardio so I can live with it. I ended up skipping the Pure Cardio cool down. For one, I figured I'd want to be warm for Cardio Abs, but I also worried about time because I didn't know how long Abs was. I'm pushing my time right now. lol Anyways, felt a little stiff at the beggining of the workout this morning but quickly loosened up and had some fun. Week two is over. That feels pretty good. Got a Fit test on Sunday. I hope I do better than my first one!

Every couple of months, i tell myself i'm going to do the insanity workout, and only make it a few days. Tried the bonus insane abs video a few weeks ago and could only make it 20 minutes in. Abs hurt for days afterwards. keep it up

I previewed Insane Abs and it scares me a bit. Not sure when I'll have the guts to sub it in. Overall I'm enjoying Insanity. It hurts, but it feels so good.

Insanity Day 15: Fit Test

Poor eating yesterday and today made this workout hurt. I punished myself by pushing extra hard and felt ill at the end. Still do as I write this. Here is a comparision of Day one's test and today's:

1. Switch Kicks: 46 / 55
2. Power Jacks: 50 / 58
3. Power Knees: 71 / 89
4. Power Jumps: 26 /34
5. Globe Jumps: 6 / 9
6. Suicide Jumps: 13 / 15
7. Push-Up Jacks: 22 / 29
8. Low Plank Oblique: 37 / 46

I was out of breath the whole time and my heart rate hardly went below my burn zone.

Insanity Day 16: Plyometric Cardio Circuit

Felt like I pushed myself. Really had to push myself to get outta bed. My muscles have been stiff and sore each morning the last little while, but by halfway through the warm up they feel ok to go. Plank still kills me so Level 1 Drills > Ski Abs > In-Outs feels like death and I always end up taking breaks. On one round I sat in child's pose through all of Ski Abs so when in-out came I did ski abs with a in in the middle. I thought it was pretty smart. Anyways, here's my numbers:

Day 17: Pathetic excuse for a workout.

Dogged it big time this morning. Feeling really sore in my hamstrings and was feeling every single move so I really slacked to ease the pain. Should have brought it harder.

Insanity Day 18: Cardio Recovery

That was needed!! My muscles loved it. Now I need a nice bath to finish stretching them out, but I gotta head to work. Really felt the stretches today. The table top work on your toes is killer, but it's the long held squats and especially the lunges that get to me. Feeling little improvements though.

It's going to be a Zelda Winter. I just got a new Wii to replace my broken one and that means all my save files are gone. Not a big deal for Zelda Twilight Princess since I had erased my save file to hack, but nevertheless I restarted Twilight Princess Monday night and I think I'm already further than I got the first time. It's lots of fun. My wife is helping me solve puzzles. I should be picking up Skyward Sword sometime soon, hopefully with the Golden controller.

Broke outta my slump and pushed. Hard. Even did better on Level 1 > Ski Abs > In-outs. Not great, and still had to rest, but better.

Insanity Day 22: Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs

Pushed good. Got a really weird feeling in my left leg that started on round 2 of the warm up and never went away. It kinda feels like when I sit on a leg for a long time and then get up and try to walk on it. Like a tingly and stuff. As I sit here typing this is still feels a bit like that. really weird. Anyway, I think i did pretty good even despite that. Gonna go soak in a bath and hope that helps.

Quick story from last night. As we're getting ready to head for bed my wife gives me a hug from behind and says, "Wow, you're getting some nice pecks!" So I say it's from all the push ups I've been doing. Then I drop and 43 good push ups in a row.

Edit: Just checked and my previous consec record was 40. Go me!

Insanity Day 23: Cardio Power and Resistance

Off the floor. I have trouble with all the jumping in this one. Not sure if I got one complete Globe Jump circuit in the whole workout. Then again, it also didn't help that I ate shortly before working out. I wasn't feeling well yesterday morning so I waited until yesterday evening to workout. That put me off schedule and I just could not drag myself outta bed this morning. So I workout in the evening. Not nearly as good a workout as first thing in the morning. Gotta get to bed on time tonight and get up tomorrow as I'm busy in the evening. Anyways, onto my numbers.

Insanity Day 24: Plyometric Cardio Circuit

Back on track for morning workouts! It wasn't easy to get out of bed, but I made it and once I started the workout I felt really good. Then the second circuit came around.... BBall drills are tough for me too and Level I > Ski Abs > In Outs just kills me. But I did my best, and I will continue to do my best.

Insanity Day 25: Cardio Recovery

Gotta say this might be my most hated exercise. It's just the squats and lunges that I hate. I will be able to hold them that long eventually. But not this morning! I was pleased I got through all the plank work this morning as anything holding plank seems to beat me usually.

Insanity Day 26: Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs

Ouch. Pushed myself pretty good. Got more pushup jacks than ever before. but I think I had to take more breaks than needed. Abs was especially tough this morning. Tomorrow is the last day of month 1! hard to believe.

Insanity Day 27: Plyometric Cardio Circuit

Well, that does it for month one. Sadly no movement on the scale yet. But I do feel fitter so I guess that's the main thing. I wish I hadn't been so lazy and had actually taken before pictures and measurments. Then maybe I'd see some progress. Whatever. I'll keep doing it before and if I'm not getting results it's because my nutrition isn't there. For the last few weeks I've been shooting for 1850 calories and then adding in my workout calories (500-800) so I've been eating 2200-2500 per day. I rechecked the the formula in the Elite Nutrition Guide and it says I should be eating 2887. So I'm going to try to eat that from now on, but NOT add in my workout calories. The next problem will be eating the right things. /sigh It's pretty tough when I'm at work. I usually take some veggies and yogart and almonds for lunch. And eat a few fibre one bars and a protein bar throughout the day. I should be eating 5 meals of 577 calories each, but it's hard to eat a meal like that when I'm at work. I'll try to tweak my breaks so I can do it properly.

As for today's workout. It was good. I pushed. I got through all of level one Drills on the first round and all of in-outs on the third round. I was pretty happy with that. Was shooting for all ski abs on the second round, but couldn't hack it. /sigh

Feeling a bit bummed, but ready to reset and hit the recovery week. Also hope to add some footbag in over the next week. it's been too long since I kicked.

Insanity day 28: Rest (Footbag and P90X Stretch X

That felt nice. Played footbag for about an hour burning 1058 calories and then did P90X Stretch X for an hour. Great way to spend my afternoon. :)

Time in Zone: 51:46
AVG BPM: 124
Peak BPM: 190

Footbag Hihglights:

 100+ kicks > 52 inside stalls > 57 clipper stalls
 Pixie paradon!
 Tiltless x24, x 28, x37, x25
 19 alternating fairies
 alternating fairy x21  :D

10 of the following 1 add moves each:

 left inside delay
 right inside delay
 left knee stall
 right right knee stall

 spinning knee stall

Second time ever hitting pixie paradon. Stoked on that. And getting the 21 faries means I have finally got 20 consecutive for every 2 add single dex move. That was a challenge I made for myself a long time ago. Pretty solid session considering it's been almost a month since I played. I felt my stamina was better, no doubt due to insanity. When I get playing regularly again I should be able to make nice progress. Got 5 weeks left in Insanity. Not sure what I'll do after that. I was kinda planning on P90X, but I want to Shred.

Insanity Day 29: Core Cardio and Balance + Bonus Footbag session

Recovery? Not gonna lie I was expecting something more like X Stretch. Maybe that was just wishful thinking. Anyway this was a good workout. Other than the popping in my left hip.... gonna watch that.

All my footbag time was spent trying to hit my submission for Nathan's comp. I did. I hope I can edit it on youtube... :?

Edit: Got it. Head over to Nathan's thread or my Youtube channel to check it out.

Well, pretty sure Chris' entry beat mine. But I had fun and I hit something I'd never really thought of much less hit before. So I'm happy with my entry.

Insanity Day 30: Core Cardio and Balance

Knew what I was getting into this time and embraced it. Felt really nice. Sure, my hip flexors, shoulders and thighs hurt very very much. But I like the burn. Within the next few days I'll try Max Interval Sports Training to mix things up. I was very tired this morning. And yesterday morning. Gotta figure out a way to remedy this before Month 2 starts so that i can get up earlier and get the longer workouts in.

Insanity Day 31: Core Cardio and Balance

Oh, mornings, why do you hate me so? I went to bed at 9:30 and still had trouble getting up for 7:15. What's up with that?? I don't think I've been sleeping well. As such I didn't feel too good going into my workout and I couldn't convince myself to REALLY get into it. Although I did make it through the hip flexor section without stopping or using something for balance. Felt pretty good about that!
