So, I tried filming midway through a session. Sadly, I didn't get what I hoped.

I "hit", and I say this in quotations because there is a decent chance one of the dexes in the following tricks weren't clean...

Blurriest symp rev up,
Janiwalker symp revup.

The issue is the butterfly before the symp rev up. I filmed it, and, it is "clean" depending on where you count the dex as happening. Either way, with time, and strength, I'll get 'em clean.

And, I footed, on film, about 5 times, my "dream" trick. I hope to get this sometime in the near future, since, footing a trick so many times is just infuriating.

I also worked on my "sick 10", and got many new links and drills ready for the 30+ 3 dexes. Most notably, I got delusional ss mirage bsos in one of the attmepts. I don't think Jorden has ever done that, and if he has, probably not inbetween triple dexes.

I'm liking this footbag game.
All of this is so cool....
Blurriest symo rev up I knew was possible and curious to see footage of this.....SUPER PROPS TO YOU...

Good luck with your dream trick.....

And .... :D Its awesome that your working towards the Dex comp....cant wait to see whats up

I don't think Johnny Murphy has kicked for 4 or 5 years- what a shame...

and 8O on the tricks, would love to see some of those tricks ending in revup on film.

I chatted with him briefly on Facebook last night, and asked him. He says he fell on his butt a few times, but never hit it.

He's living in Vietnam now and says he still plays a bit. Also kicks around shuttlecock, but not seriously.

Two Ken posts in a row. Highscore. Also, thanks for parting with the Murphy knowledge.

Something about me loves this game. I spent the day with two female friends, and as we were all taking a nap, in somewhat of a cuddling fashion after a few hours doing general errands and shopping... I just wanted to play footbag.

So, I crawled out the door, got in my car.. Went home and played two hours of footbag. I played like shit, Matt Cross saw it. My clipper was being a bitch again, and, I just wanted to do hard shit and get through it, instead of go to basics, and still have it be shit. The problem isn't dexing, just fucking stalling. Some days, almost always without viewers, the clipper is confident, and I feel great... And, I can hit the hard shit I was trying today.. But to go "down", and still drop, because the problem is stalling the bag.. Just embarrassing.

So, I go hang out with the girls again post nap, watch a movie, massage a bit, and go home. One of the girls is currently on my bed, watching some tv show, and I just got out of the shower. I needed to fix this clipper. So, after about 10 minutes of doing ss clipper, in many ways, I just did spinning whirls for a while. I'd look up every once in a while, and see her looking at me with just some sort of, happy gaze. I'd do some more spinning whirls, repeat. End on a few whirlwinds.. Those were the three tricks of the session, not even a spinning clipper.

Just, something about me loves this game. No matter what I'm doing, who I'm with, it is in me. Part of being in BAP is a little different in mindset than before... Which, I don't know if I feel comfortable saying or not.. Since I'm just a boy who plays footbag.. But part of me feels like I simply can't settle, no matter what. Part of me feels like I owe it to all the work I did, and all the people who appreciated it, to not suck. So, if I'm faced with my brain not enjoying how I'm playing footbag.. Sure I'll bail on physical contact with girls. I don't know, they'll be there later, and hopefully they'll admire the dedication and hard work it takes to do 10 minutes of pure ss clippers, and a few spinning whirls after spending the same day with me.

In other news, I sucked at footbag today. I need to be better. For those who... Think something high of me, just, please don't get your hopes up. I've been having a weird / rough couple of months.

Then again, I bsos'ed backside clownface today.

You are great Jay.

And you love footbag. This is something priceless. Many people actually play without having that feeling. I can name few. Me... Dante... Evan... more... We all play, we all enjoy it, but we don't LOVE it like you do.

you can say whatever you want about BAP. You deserved it. you worked hard for it.

And by the way, you are the shit.

Ya, I've seen better from you ;) get yer ass down here to the city. we'll play performance style in public, and just go for long easy strings. 50 tiltless beats ripwalk > pdx whirl > blurriesting whirling rev swirling gyro toeing drop any day.

Still, it's great to watch you. I hope we can do that again soon - thanks for the private Jay session. I'm glad you've got some ladies in your life that appreciate your particular brand of awesomeness.

Dear Footbloggers,

So, I awoke yesterday and decided that there was something missing in my day. It was about 6:00 am, I got a horrible sleep, and knew I didn't have to be doing anything productive until 9:00 am. This seemed like a perfect recipe for footbag. I crawled out of my bed, strapped on some shoes and got to work. The fluorescent lights which I stuck on my wall beaming, my brain lucid still, and after some kicks I just decided to start stringing. I haven't had a string like this, since I played with Suderman every week. Every Tuesday, for 6 months, I'd drive to go play with Johnny, where drilling was half a session and just doing strings in the green room... Since then, I've lost something I once had, I believe. I began to treat footbag with a bit of self-anger and detriment. My sessions, as many of you could have told were filled with condescension for myself when I wasn't hitting the things I wanted to hit.

I suppose this method works quite well in regards to learning single tricks, maybe some combos, and getting short term goals. However, I've felt like I've lost a spark recently.. I was still inventing, I was still hitting new things every session, but, my overbearing love for footbag.. The part that would reject the rest of life just to play in my basement, it had been lost to some degree. After my back injury, and meeting a really special person, I feel like I began to first balance my life. People have always told me about balancing work and play, but, I am a very obsessive person and fitting in two things to live through, is tricky. However, the change this time was that I didn't lose my friends... With each passing day, the life lessons I've never learned in a basement, the experience of having someone *expect* to hang out with you, all of these things were lost on me. I must say, it does feel pretty swell. So swell, that, I don't want to necessarily give it up.

However, I purposely kept me footbag life quite separate and distinct from all other aspects of me. Since I really began to play footbag once I went to Germany, with no friends, family or a soul to talk to, that is when it became my life. That was when, I found that regardless of what the week had in store, I could play footbag and be the person I wanted to be. This was the reason to wake up in the morning, and this was the reason that I knew I felt accomplished and worth something. It is no secret to many of you that the common person, between the ages 16->21 can easily make fun of footbag, mostly due to confusion. People just don't understand the will to play, the will to dance, or the will to push yourself. I've accepted this however I have probably accepted this too far and into the point that I kept footbag from my friends. They all knew that I was good, they knew that it was important to me, but not enough that they could actually phase me. If they chose to make fun of it, or tell someone else about it for me, in a preconceived negative way, this was normal.. I began to push friends away from me so that footbag was my life and that they were a supplement for maybe one night a month of social activity. Maybe.

In may I will hopefully have passed all my courses, and graduated. At this time, the world is my oyster. I will have footbag, an Engineering degree, and an endless series of connections in the world to go live with. This is part of the reason I've enjoyed so much social activity recently, because I was really wondering why I always expected to leave Canada.. Why I always felt like it was holding me back, despite a great living quality and workforce. I decided that it was due to human connection. Everywhere else in the world, I had footbag friends, who were infinitely closer to me than my "real" friends... They accepted me for the boy who was in his basement.. And not only that, I received props, appreciation, and respect. Why wouldn't I want to be in that kind of environment? Of course I would like to leave my lifestyle of living coldly, sleeping on the floor, for far off lands with friends and love. But, why couldn't I have that here?

In comes the special person referenced earlier in this post. I found someone who, for some reason realized that there was great potential in me as a human, and not a footbagger. This person brought me leaps and bounds into treating the rest of life like I treated footbag, and to no real surprise, I guess I've gotten pretty good at it. Maybe too good? I almost don't have a day go by without social plans, at some point. From once a month, maybe, and awkward filled silence, this is an accomplishment. THe other Friday I realized I didn't *really* have plans, and that was astonishing. Come friday evening I was with a girl walking along the beach, drinking coffee and learning more of life's lessons.

The special person in my life has seen me play footbag a few times... Sometimes on my bed, sometimes from a webcam, sometimes on video somewhere on youtube. Someone who knows me as the person I've become, but not afraid of the monster I once was. Recently I've exposed to this person exactly what footbag is to me, its origins, why I started playing, and my dilemma for moving come May. This person encouraged me to play, apologized on behalf of humanity, and has inspired me to be just one person.. The person who can be a world-class footbagger, as well as a person who exists in this world, making days brighter, and the people around me happier.

This, was what I woke up to yesterday morning. This is why I woke up, grabbed my quantums after 4 hours of sleep, and 'created'. I felt like I didn't know where my potential was, in the last year.. I knew I was getting better, but felt like I must be reaching somewhere near the top. After this session, for the first time since with Johnny Suderman, I felt like I had so far to go. After hitting food processor->spinning blender*rpt, catching the bag, looking at my horrible crank and sunrise filled windows, I just knew. I'm not near done in this sport, I'm not near what I will be.. I will find confidence, and show myself what is truly possible in the world, instead of just inventing a few tricks no one thought of. I actually think I can do it, I actually think I have gaping wells of untapped potential. And why not? There is no evidence that there is something stopping me. Everyday I'm improving, and learning about how this game works.

Thanks life. You're a pal.

Wow. I can relate to a lot of that, aside from Food> Spender rpt :P But when you said you almost pushed your friends away... I'm just realizing I did this. In my group of friends from high school, I was always a little different. I was the soft-spoken guy, who would make everyone laugh from time to time, but I felt like I wasn't very respected. I would constantly be interrupted while telling a story or something, or I would just feel like no one cared about my input, and they would just talk over me and act like my words were of little importance. In my time playing footbag, I've realized that I speak with my game and no one can interrupt my strings. Everyone is always as equally interested in my time with the bag, as I am interested in theirs. Glad to hear about your "special person", too. Also happy to hear that she supports the fact that you play. I also have a "special person" who supports me playing. Nice to find a girl who actually likes what you do, don't think it's childish, and actually respects you for it. Anyway, sorry for rambling. Hope the rest of your school year goes well man. I should be graduating this year, but my old adviser fucked me over and now I graduate a year late  Best of luck with everything man. Take care.

I just had what was probably one of the most aggressive sessions of my career.

Just, one of those sessions where you don't give a fuck, and use 100% of your muscle, and just rip things apart. Like, buildings fell somewhere in Asia. One of those "I'm fed up of not stepping out of blurry drifters" and just using all of your force and just create underneath your eyes what you've never even seen in videos.

Something about just, tapping into previously unknown power feels fucking testosterone rage-like. I know I'd get injured if I played like this every day, but something about blurry drifter->stepping whirl->blurrier->motion->superfly*4->whatever->bd->sw->blurrier (other side)->osis->food->Spinning whirl->spinning whirl->spender feels godlike. Like, I didn't know I was capable of that shit.

Even stuff just like blurry drifter->whirr->blurriest->spinning whirling swirl attempt, feels so good.

God I love this game. I'm also glad that the calendar is going well, and that people are enjoying december. I can't *wait* to hear some of the feedback on the videos that I enjoyed making more.

Some of the videos will make you soil your own linens. Sorry.

In, 1 minute retrospect, this was the most anti-humble, cocky post I've probably ever made. I don't know if I like that, but my session today was just a release of like 20 years of never just unleashing. It felt good.

I say be proud of it. Sounds like a great session and a fun one. This is your blog. You're aloud to express you feelings in it. It's not like you went and posted this on the front page of footbag.org.

PS Next time you feel like having a session like that. FILM. :)

the joulukalenteri videos have been the only thing in the last four months to make me want to play footbag again.

on a side note, know that there's someone out there who envies you greatly, and wishes they could live the life you do.

Sex Machine Chick Magnet...

Hehe, oh boy.

I'm glad everyone liked the Christmas Calendar. I hope it isn't forgotten, and I hope the videos continue to be good enough, to sustain viewing. Some older calendar videos get the rush, and then aren't watched again. I'd love if at least 75% of these videos were rewatched in the coming weeks.

So, Christmas has come and gone. What a ride. This was my most selfish, and awesome Christmas yet, which I think isn't quite the christmas spirit.

First, I took the liberty to buy a christmas present for me and my female interest, which was a trip to New York City. Let me tell you, that was fucking absurd. We met up with Matt Cross, and I fuzed two portions of my life into another, what with girl life and footbag life in the same room and all. I've always seen poor results with mixing the two, where both sides seem to suffer. However, this went, really quite well. Props to life. I noticed when I tried symp whirr for Matt, that my back tweaked a little bit, and this scared me.

Next, Anssi and Aleksi came to town. I took them to my parents, my sauna-house, my school-house, Niagara Falls, and Toronto. We had pretty jam-packed days, and we had one night of Drinking, coupled with my female interest as well. Also, to my great surprise, the night was likely more eventful and better with her there, and there was great fun to be had. The finns apparently gave my sauna building skills the thumbs up, and really enjoyed their experience with it. Having my sauna christened by Finns, just, that was an honour. What up.

Next, I went to Chicago for NYJ. I hadn't been to Chicago in a few years, because I've went to Finland, so again it was cool to fuze the Finland/Chicago tournaments together. I played ok, considering I was worried about my back, and I hadn't done strings in months, I had some really cool stuff I think. Overall, I had a great time, but I had to cut it short. I was going to miss a bunch of days of school, and stay in Chicago to visit, but I was just.. Exhausted I guess. I never had a christmas "break", with all the commotion of NYC, Christmas itself, Family troubles, Finland, Chicago... Just, spending another 3 days in motion, not having my own bed, routine... I just wanted to go home, and, to be honest I also wanted to spend time with my female interest. I was really quite missing her, and, she was not doing so swell herself, and, everything just seemed to make me want to go home. I love footbag, I love the people, and I was really glad I got to go compete in Chicago... But something about falling asleep holding someone you love, is just ridiculously compelling. Waking up in the same position hours later, is also, 100% satisfying beyond belief.

So, here I am. I have a hugely different perspective on life after this last December. I have a different perspective on footbag, what I want to do after graduation, and my lifestyle in general. Things are changing, will continue to change, and I want to rip through it with passion. One of those "awakening" feelings, I guess, like life is just beginning.

For some reason, one of the things I was most proud of in chicago, was quantum egg->pixie symp egg, after a few tries, in a circle with Anssi/Aleksi/Evan. Not that hard, but, you can't fake it. Time to unpack, grocery shop, and make some changes.
