Some stuff from the past couple of days
Nick Pasquarello (from PA to OH)
Looked at some footage from February I took and am pleased that, in comparison to just a little bit of footage I took from Mike and I's last session, that I've pretty much cut toe bails out of my game! I'm pretty stoked because looking retrospectively at just 6 months ago, my strings were way shorter and I bailed to toe almost every string! Now my strings are longer and I'm legitimately tiltless. woo!
Some stuff from the past couple of days
pdx dlo bs!! surprisingly easy on my flip, tried to get it bsos a bunch of times but never sealed it. Nice 4-add(ition) to my game!
real lazy/smooth PS mirage bs (it started to rain so I didn't get around to bsos but I've hit it bsos before)
messed around with some guays. never really tried them too much... hit a bunch bs and bsos and pdx and whatnot
drifter bsos (might have been dada.. maybe. I have that problem)
merlin

I realize I only ever remember single tricks or bsos-ing tricks and I never remember any strings

I messed up the toe box on my g-units because I got caught in a thunderstorm while on a bike ride
I hate Ohio weather. This has happened before (getting caught in a downpour while on my bike) but it has now happened when I was wearing my units like 3 times now. I was pissed when I came home and smacked my shoes against my railing to get excess water out, and then realized that almost detached my toe box from the rest of the tongue of my shoe.
So the only shoes I have are now messed up... what to do???
Hopefully I'll be getting some quantums in the near future

HA! Fun Fact: until this past tuesday all 3 of us have NEVER played together!F[uns]tylin' Eclectic wrote:Be great to shred with you two again.
It's really crazy because you two (singularly) are by far the 2 people I have kicked with the most since I started playing, and it took, what, a year and a 1/2 to finally get a session with all of us??! crazy.
So yea, you can probably guess from that ^^ that I went up to Akron, OH this past Tuesday to shred with the great Nick Polini. Mike had work til 4 that day and couldn't make it up until like 8-ish, but we all had a session and it was grand. Earlier that day though, Nick and I had a SICK session at Cuyahoga Falls, definitely one of the best (scenic) places I've kicked. We got a ton of footage, so can't wait to see that =P
Some highlights:
Just had an hour or so session on my break from work, first time using my new Catobag. I haven't met this Jeremy kid yet, but it sounds like he has a knack for freestyle (hit clip>ducking clip b2b and started less than a month ago
Anywho, I mainly kept to tiltless stuff today because my legs are still pretty sore from Tuesday, so no highlights. Working on string length and really getting my flipside dexterity down. It's finally not feeling entirely awkward to do multiple legovers on my flipside and it's becoming almost as fluent as my strong.
Pixies. on the other hand
Ended with the "warm up" I got from Nick Polini (about 4-5 posts up) and my legs felt like they were going to fall off. I'm pretty sure I didn't get the last one (

Whoa, been WAY too long since my last update. It's not a lack of progress, it's lethargy. Anywho, kicked twice today so there's a good place to start, eh?
Kicked with Nick Polini earlier today, some stuff:
Osis>ripwalk bsos!!
pdx barrage first try!!
blizzard bsos and blur almost bsos (all in same string)
Later at Bob Reifer's with Nick Polini and Jackson:
Toe blizzard!!
bubbabeater bs
got that diving/ducking drill with clippers really clean
Some random highlights I remember from recently:
pdx Merlin (first 6-add!)
doublespinning clipper
eggbeaters bs
torques! Finally! Only strong side so far, but working on it..
Other than that, same ol' stuff, working longer strings and bs/bsos-ness.
Oh also; happy birthday to me!!!

Just got back from nick's place where we had an EPIC session including Kevin hogan via Skype.
Ht my first couple of blazing tricks!
Blaze
Blazing illusion
I tried blazing illusion on my flipsie a few times and it was crazy weird, I was doing it sort of symposium... That could be fun later on
blur>atomsmasher (pretty big for me, hit this link once about 10 months ago first try and I freaked the fuck out haha. Haven't tried that particular link much since I guess because I didn't want to jinx it, but hit it first try today!)
gyro illusion
Spinning inside>hopover swirl
getting close to grifter... It will be mine
Also nailed some of my first nuclear tricks tonight:
Nuclear tap (or pdx tap? Not sure which is the proper name)
Matador!!
Sumo!!
Meanwhile Kevin and nick are ducking nuclear sets
and getting crazy other stuff. Good session
Edit: forgot I cleared my first few furious sets!! HUGE!! (thanks kevin)

Yeah Nick! That was such a kick ass session for you man. I'm proud of you for hitting all that stuff. Best session I've seen you have in a while. Your Furious sets are actually scary good dude. I love how your Illusion game is coming a long. Looking so dope man. Your guiltless game is really coming together... And listen to Kevin in the post above mine... Because, to be quite honest... Kevin is the one (also Mark Monistere) who pushed me to go Guiltless and I was right around your level too. I can see it happening for you very soon. Just concentrate on those basics. Can't wait to play again.
Session last night in my kitchen with Nick of course. Just moved the table and instant shred spot! Mostly figuring out some tricks/concepts and drilling some stuff, not too much stringing. I'm not sure what my tilt less record is, but I hit 22 last night. I'm gonna try to take Kevin's advice and beat it every session, but th is gonna be hard as I'm pretty incapable of counting my contacts while I kick, I need someone else to do it for me
Also, when I go for/beat my tiltless record, I more or less am trying to snake them all unique or at least close to unique... No clippers b2b like 14 times bs (meaning "bullshit" in this context
), really attempting to cover most basic 2s when going for a record. Ima go for 25 next session.
What's interesting is that I feel that when I get past 40-50 tiltless, I should be able to be close to about 25-30 guiltless at least. Last time I kicked with mike, he told me one of the longest strings I had was 16 contacts (ew) but in that same session I had an 11 contact guiltless run. I think this is because some tricks I try to do tiltless when going for our numbers such as ducking/diving toe, stepping toe, spinning toe, etc are actually easier and more comfortable if I do them as 3s (ducking/diving clipper, stepping ss clipper, spinning clipper)
Anyway, some highlights:
frozen clipper b2b x16
Osis x16 (record)
toe spinng clipper second try. I never do toe spinning, I need to start.
FRONTSIDE TOE BLUR!!
ducking far rake bs
stepping rake, only one side =\
far gyro toe bs
far ducking gyro toe
ducking clipper>symp swirl bs
came close to far symp swirl on my flip, footed it but missed the catch. Flip swirling is giving me quite the hard time
ended on...Dimwalk bsos! I know, not very climactic, but if you've read this/have played with or seen me play, you'll notice that I loathe pixies and my flip pixie is absolute garbage. Hit my first couple of dimwalks on my flip and finally was able to string it at the end of the session. I need to work on pixies a lot more, it just sucks I hate them
Peace!

I have been doing a lot of stuff lately with trying to beat my records of tiltless, guiltless etc.
It's a good idea to try and keep things as unique as you can (of course that's hard once you get up to 50, 60, 100 or so tiltless). Something I have been trying to do is aim for a certain number, say- 10 tricks with no clipper. Then beat that.
It's also good to get sections of 5 tricks that flow together (makes it easier to count as well) - so you can do like atw>pixie>mirage>clipper>legover, or anything you feel like doing, then connect that to another 5 and build up to bigger numbers.
It's also a good time to even up your pixie sets now. I have been working hard on doing just that lately, and it's starting to pay off now. It is really annoying to have to avoid certain tricks because you don't have any confidence in them- so it's probably a good time to work on that.
Good luck on it all!

Today had a session with nick, started with a bunch of drills and, in predictable fashion, ended up having a regular session. Drilled muted clippers for a while which definitely helped my game just in that session alone. I gotta drill muted clippers bs a bunch more for sure. Gah! I have to drill everything more!
3-uped my tiltless record to 26 from 23 with about 20ish unique
blurriest!! FIRST TRIPLE DEX!!!!
flip flail, but this is more or a critique than a highlight... I can hit flails very consistently on my strong side, but flip is TERRIBLE, needs so much work. I tried about 20-30 and hit ONE, and it was ugly as sin. On the up side, I drilled some flip illusions inspired by this overabundance of suck and they are feeling smooth, FINALLY. As nick said, I'm 'chopping' the dex more now, meaning it's not awkward any, ore, as it has been for..well, ever.
hit butterfly swirl BS! Pretty awesome, I've hit strong side before, but today I hit flipside infinity-style the 2ns or 3rd try!! Felt awesome!!
That's it for now, hopefully I will have 2 new beanbags waiting for me when I get back from work tomorrow
Edit: bearbags** freaking iPad..

First off, went to NYC for almost exactly 24 hours a few days ago to play with NYFA plus others. I only caught the tail end of the HUGE session with people like Clavens, Ken, Kemmer, Matthieu, Barrett, and some others. Was only there for about 45 mins, so after warming up, I only got about 30 mins of actual play, but hit a few good things:
frontside toe blur first or second try (I think)
flail bs (back to back with a seal in the middle, put it as a highlight because my flip flail was giving me such a hard time earlier in the week, hit it first or second try this time ;P)
clean stepping xbd rake in front of Ken, got some props, felt good
Stayed at Bruce's apartment that night after some great food, had a decent session at the same dance studio the next day from 4-6. It was just me, Nick Polini, Kevin Hogan and his friend Kevin, John Good, Bruce, Tristan, and Drew, but I had a really great time. Didn't hit anything too crazy, but here's some stuff I was proud of
blizzard>atomsmasher (wasn't as clean as I would like it and I didn't quite seal it, but it was a first
pogo illusion
I call it this, but I'm not sure that's what it's called. it's symp blizzard, any help?
delusion (this wasn't that good, John Goode did some really good(e) delusions bs, I think he may have hit bsos (??))
Goode and Drew helped me out on blurry whirl, feels much better now, thanks guys!!
Last Winter Break session last night w/ Nick Po'. Going back to Columbus today, can't wait to kick with my crew to the west with my 2 AWESOME new bearbags
Got a 2-stitch and a 3-stitch and they play like a dream already, we used both during last night's session.
Session sorta sucked, I had a beer (alc/vol 6.6%) before we kicked, so I wasn't fully coordinated, but the main problem wasn't the beer, it was (as usual) a lack of skill.
My osi still need so much work, and it's really annoying because I feel like I've worked on this trick for a while now, but still can't usually get past like 10 b2b regularly
. Also, have been focusing more on swirls during sessions because I really want to incorporate them into my strings, but they are nowhere near consistent enough to do mid-string consistently, which is a problem. symple swirls are usually easier for me, I'm trying to work them as well as regular planted swirls, really need to work on getting these on lock. I also realize that I really should focus on getting my tiltless game entirely on lock right now and I will be doing that in solo sessions from now on.
(not many) highlights:
matched my tiltless record of 26, but this one was better because I had a bunch of 3's in there and had a 4 (spinning osis) towards the end, felt good
xbd rake>ss symple swirl
hit a CLEAN flipsside blurry whirl (first one) I hit a really thin (probably the) flip blurry whirl in New York, so I had to end this session with a clean one
Headed to the Midwest shortly! Winter break was chock full of great shred, looking to bring it back with me to Columbus
Peace everyone! East Coast love!
Edit: forgot
