After watching the vidoes.....
Here is a list of things you need to do immediately ....
1. Video below ( I Promise )
2. ss clippers 10>osis>repeat .
3. Alternating clipper GOOD FORM X 20
4. Legover (out to in) >opp legover>repeat GOOD FORM X 10
5. clipper>osis (FREEZE) >repeat ( turn to the opp side as soon as you can and catch on opposite clipper position . Like a gryo clipper....
6. mirageX 10 bs
7. streching and gently streching your ankles into crank position , and even experiment with pointing your toe down sometimes ....I think the basic drills will fix this though.....Because when you begin feeling how some tricks benefit from an arced set will possibly change your perspective on stalling the bag.
8. Adam smasher bs every session at least 5 hits in every session...
because I believe that if a player like you has a trick that you can hit and it doenst harm your body, then hit it all the time. Check out how sickly awesome Suderman is at this....
9. Session 2 hours max 5-6 days a week ...take a break and play again... in the same day if you want but , take a break if you need it

Thanks for the post! I drilled some of these moves on Moir's video. I have been trying to keep up with that the past months, but got stuck on clipper. 10 ss clipper>osis>10 fs clipper was hit on 2nd attempt. It was a surprise. After 15 minutes of that I moved onto Jorden's bent knee alternating toe flicks.
I noticed I drop my clippers down too much. This might be another reason why I don't bend my knees. I tried it out without dropping my foot at all and my knees were bending. Now to find the middle ground.
3 hours of shred today and am still full of energy, but I must rest. More tomorrow!
Thanks for the help Mark and Ken! You guys rock!

Oh hi. At work right now. Just updating that I still kick for hours every day. I have been working on the 10 osis>clipper>10 alt clipper. My clippers are getting better and I am starting to control where the footbag goes.
Almost hitting paradox whirl both sides. That is good news. I have been stalling longer on my clippers. Good news all around. I should have vids soon.

More clipper drills. Flip side clipper is coming along. Been holding the footbag on my foot for longer on clippers. It really does help control what you do with the footbag next. I was suprised when I landed 3 flip side whirls in a row. Great stuff.
Also landed my first Paradox Whirl. It wasn't clean, though.

Hey yall. I have had one too many to drink, decided to write in here. Today was a recovery day. It was really hard not to kick. Excited about Vegas. Considering purchasing 5th pair of lavers, bad boy. I have been drilling basics so hard that I am seeing results! Thinking about entering routines in Vegas. That would be a laugh and a half. I don't care, I am still doing it. I'll probably throw up mid, performance. Anyways I need to sleep.

Had a little bit of time to play today.
Drilled:
Clippers both sides
Alternating osis
Whirl both sides
Tiltless runs
I had a reason to post here and I can't remember why.
Ordered another pair of Lavers in fear that the black ones will sell out in my size, plus they are on sale for $44.
I can't wait for Vegas because I need new footbags, badly. I am down to my BrianBear bag. It has lost about 1/2 its weight and is covered in band-aids. No kidding there are probably more than 20 holes, and new ones keep arriving.
Took a couple of rest days and I feel great!

Got a tip from Nick to see how far I can go tiltless. I didn't count, but I think I would hover around 20. 50 was the goal, but I am still happy with 20. Hit a few new combinations today. Check the video for my break time shred session.

Bummer I had to get back to work once I started hitting the big stuff. Anyone have any tips or pointers on places to improve?
New goals for the week:
Ripwalk both sides
50 ss clippers both sides
20 alternating osis
Flip Clippers mirrored from Strong Side
Don't overdo it
EDIT:
Made a slow mo video.

Had a good hour at work to shred today.
Ripwalk both sides. Strong side is 3/5 now
10 clipper>osis>10 clipper
10 alt clippers
12 alt osis
7 alt butterflies
clipper ducking pickup (not sure what they call this)
3 alt ducking clippers
Atom Smasher (such a hard one)
flip toe stall> strong side DATW (not sure what this is called either)
clipper>ss sole stall>ss clipper
clipper>set>pickup both sides
I am about to go shred in the parking lot for another two hours. I will be sure to film. Be back in a few!
BACK:
I had a good 45 minute session. Didn't want to stay up too late, and I have a 14 hour shift ahead of me tomorrow. Tonight was mainly about drilling flip side. Clippers, butterflys, DATW, whirls, ducking, and osis flip side.
I am having a real hard time bending my knees. I feel like I am already bending way more than I naturally want to, but on camera it looks super stiff. Some real life coaching would help with that.
I did land one trick that I have been meaning to attempt ever since I first saw it:
Paradon
One of the best looking tricks, in my opinion.

It was sloppy and the last trick I did for the night, but it felt so good. I will work on that tomorrow.
PS I named that cat "Boots". He is a stray cat that always watches me play.

Toe drills today. Still have 6 hours left on my shift. Let's see what turns of it.

Yesterday I forgot to bring foot to work and I had a 14 hours shift. So instead of burning all my energy I decided to take a rest/fast day. It sucked, heh.
I was able to get in 5 hours of footbag at work today. Pretty worn out. 3 hours of it was simply clipper stalls and clipper wraps.
No new trick attempts.
I did film a little towards the end of the night, but I was so tired that I didn't go big. It was mostly me cussing while failing at alternating osis record attempts. Nothing past 6
Thinking about taking work off to shred with my two local buddies. Every time they shred I am working double shifts or in school.
I am pooped and need sleep.
PS:
My Vegas Jizzam Footage was on the news:

Props. With Vegas approaching, I keep telling myself to stop trying new big tricks, and instead to focus on getting back my stamina and consistency on my basics. I've been really bad about it. When I play today, I'm going to try and channel your discipline, and make a point to completely all new concepts, and stick to my basics.worldbound wrote:No new trick attempts.
When do you get into Vegas? I get in Thurs night and leave Sunday night. Stoked to hang out again!

Ken: It is so frustrating to drill basics, especially if you can't hit them!
I arrive to Vegas sometime Friday morning. Probably 11:00 - 11:30. I will let you know the day before. I am so excited for Vegas! It is going to be so awesome!!!!!!
I have been seeing progress in my whole play style just from that day of basics. It is crazy how boring, yet effective, it is!
Today:
Sort of a depressing day. I didn't work and for some reason I really missed it. Good thing the day ended on a good note with footbag.
I went to my favorite footbag haven: Mesa Arts Center. Lit up 24/7, power, and plenty of visually inspiring places to play. I ran around the whole place making small 1 trick clips to show the variety the place has to offer. I am editing it right now and will upload tomorrow morning.
Drilled clippers and osis for a bit. I am still not bending my knees with osis. They look really weird
Also made a goal to land 4 alternating stepping far legovers . By the time I hit it I was completely zonked. A total of 2 hours of straight footbag.
Time to sleep, I will get 6 hours before work tomorrow. That sucks.

PS I always set my videos with music because Adobe Premiere really hates the format my Canon camera records in. The audio is always jacked up, and I prefer music over silence.

Here is the video of Mesa Arts Center:

I ran around the place picking some locations that had some inspiring lighting. Soon in the future there will be a more elaborate video. If there is ever a PHX jam it will have to be here!
I have some friends with great recording equipment and lights, hopefully I can convince them to make a short film here.
The video is just to display how great this place is. I want to make a daytime video, too.
By the fall I should have enough skills to make a video that is half decent.
I just realized that this almost feels as fun as skateboarding was for me growing up. The only thing missing is that ALL of my friends were into skateboarding as much as I was. I only have 2 friends here in AZ that footbag, and our schedules conflict. I still love footbag more than any other activity!

I am on my phone at work, so this will be short and have multiple edits and additions by the end of the day.
I forgot to mention a few new tricks:
Clipper> paradox mirage - both sides 3/5
Actually that's it.
Today is a rest day. I can feel my left shin is a little tender and I would like to have that solid as a rock.

My phone posted that message twice, so here is part 2 of today.
Today went from being a rest day to a "no plant" day. Basically any trick is up for grabs that does not involve a plant. I spent an hour doing clipper wraps, alternating osis, inside to clipper stalls, and trying out pixies. It was a lot of fun!
I used my less forgiving hania bag. It rolls like a golf ball because it has lost about half its weight. I needed that for my osis because it helped me see where my form was off. Every time the ball rolled off I would stop, look at my form, and fix what was causing the mistake. It actually worked really well! I straightened my back, bent my knees, and cranked my ankles more every time I was not perfectly balanced.
I have work early tomorrow morning so I had to end early.

I wish I were headed to Vegas Jam this weekend -- it seems like we are at about the same level, and it would be awesome to kick with you.
How hard do you play when you practice? I've noticed you kick basically every single day. I would really love to do the same, but my body (particularly my shins) just won't let me.

RJ: Bummer you can't make it! I only know a couple of people who are close to my level (still way better than me, though) and I love shredding with them! It is nice to see how they go about things.
I haven't played too hard lately, due to my left shin acting up. I guess that makes us RIGHT on the same level
. It sucks, and I have been taking it easy for the past couple of days. The plan if for the shin to slowly heal, and not slowly worsen.
Things I do to help my shin before I shred (keep in mind I am not a physician in any way):
Eat healthy foods, drink plenty of water, and avoid carbination.
15 minutes stretching
15 minutes no-plant warm up stalls and dexes
15 minutes 2 ADD tricks
From there I slowly start throwing in 3 ADD stuff here and there, and then I am free to do whatever tricks.
If my form is off-balanced, hunched, or strains a certain part of my leg I make an effort to correct it right away.
Tricks that hurt my shin: Butterfly, whirl, multiple stepping tricks, and tricks that require my supporting leg to jump then land on the same foot.
After, I end with 10 minutes of stretching and walking around to cool off. I notice that if I just stop cold my shin will act up later on.
If my shin hurts during any trick I stop doing that trick immediately for the rest of the day.
That's about it. Everyone is different and their bodies are different.
If you have regular shredding session with a crew, and it is close to an airport, I could fly out some day and shred for a couple of hours. That is, when I have time
. I already promised the Austin crew that I would stop by a long time ago. Still looking for a free weekend.
Let me know what you do when you shred, and what tricks hurt your shins.

Just got back from Buffalo Wild Wings. Had a few to drink so I am feeling GOOOOOOOD right now.
Vegas is tomorrow! I could not be more excited! The flight tomorrow is going to be super competitive. 22 open seats, and 25 people flying standby. Time to break out the tricks. There is no way I am getting bumped from that flight.
Today I had a small break to practice no-plant stuff. Getting my flip side down. What the hell am I even talking about. I should just go to bed so Vegas will come faster.
I wish the forums were more active =_( I always feel weird bumping threads that have been dead for at least a year. Resurrection!
PEACE
