Had a driveway session with a new friend today! Josh has great control and can consistently get at least 5-10 consecutive kicks using every part of the shoe. I encouraged him to use the left foot more and try toe stalls. We played catch toe to toe for a few minutes and I think I helped. He was genuinely interested about nomenclature and stuff so maybe I have a new recruit :)

It took me like 30 minutes to warm up. Usually I get a bike ride warmup when I shred downtown so that's something to keep in mind. Don't you feel that after a quick bike ride, you come out of the gate with more energy.

I hit a clean rip walk today for the first time. Also hit atomsmasher in a dense run. At the pinnacle of it I threw down (mixer>duckingdown>far whirl)
I'm pretty good at that string I would like to make it (stepping mixer>open ducking down>blurry whirl) eventually :)

I've really been drilling atomic sets I think it would look good in my arsenal. They are still a little frustrating and I have yet to do any compound trick with it besides a-smasher but it's fun just trying it.

Psu peanut butter and jampionship in one week with 2z!

Nice mixer link! Atomics are so fun, but be careful with them. If it feels like you're using too much energy, change your form. They should feel almost effortless. Reason i say this is because when I first learned them, they were pretty easy to do, but took me more effort than I needed to use, and I got injured this year from it :\ Not fun to sit on the side lines.

Looking forward to meeting you and kicking with you this weekend man!

Thanks for the tips Nick! This weekend should be an absolute riot!

Ive hit legbeater both sides before and I can defiantly tell the difference between a good and a bad atomic set. Atomic mixer is one of my goals for summer. Both sides of course :)

Make sure your hips are turned towards the Ball after u set From atomic. keep that in mind when you are trying stepping moves also or paradox moves. I also like the mixer combo. I had a combo last year with mixers in it. Mixer-t.whirl- Paradox Mirage rpt. It was fun But yurs is a little harder.

Hey Mike Angeski-Will you post/send the videos you took of intermediate circle? Also thanks heaps for the trick tips and tutorials all weekend, it really helped my form and overall flow. We are going to have to get together soon. Maybe Zach and I could come shred it out with you and Brandon over the summer!

The PSU Jampionships were just incredible. Thanks to Nathan for hosting the chaos! It was awesome to meet all the talent from the east coast, I was really impressed by the positive energy brought to the circles.

Personal highlights from the weekend include:
Road trippin with Zach
Nick P teaching me atomic ducking while he was blacked out drunk
Epic toe shred in socks with Nathan and MikeAngeski in the basement
Drew driving like an asshole and rocking the microphone for MTVU
Meeting NYFA crew and getting ridiculous
Meeting Jay and being a superfan
1st place intermediate circle
New 8 panel bag (Thanks Waylan)
Soaking up as much as I could and just thrashing my legs :)

Some new tricks and styles this weekend:
toe ducking mirage & ss
toe ducking illusion & ss
open illusion \m/
refining my ripwalks (still working on b2b)
ducking down b2b
atomic sets/quantum sets[/u]

Yeahhhhhh.... You're welcome lol I'm glad I'm still an ok teacher when I'm beyond destroyed haha

I really wish I remembered that dude. Props again, though I'm sure I was insane stoked when I witnessed it and I probably wouldn't stop giving you props lol

Aside from that story, It was great to meet you man. Glad we finally did. Thanks to you and Zach to coming down so far to play some footbag at PSU. Hope to get together with you and kick and chill again soon. I heard you, Zach Brandon, and Mike wanna get together in Akron Ohio... My grandma lives there, so maybe we can organize a trip when I head to visit her out there. Anyway, you really impressed me this weekend. Great form. Just keep doing what you're doing. Catch ya later.

Wicked sick shred with Zach J and Mikie E today in Ann Arbor.

Mikie showed up with a new and improved sets of skills that he has been honing with nyfa for the last year. I was ecstatic to see his improvement and the ways we diverged. "You went duck and I went spin"

Zach skipped a whirlevball practice of the utmost important to be there, but still managed to bring the beast mode as usual, naturally wearing a dragonforce t-shirt \m/ \m/

I'm still frustrated with atomic and stepping sets, but if you guys can do it, i should be able to as well, it's just a matter of practice at this point.

mixer>ducking down>far whirl
atomicdown both sides about 5each all day
duckingmirage>duckingillusion
quite a few 5-10 guiltess contacts inside runs
VERY close to pswhirl one side

You stay classy...WORLD

Continuing to cope with these stupid injuries is really slowing me down. Beginning of summer is usually my time to cut loose and shred hard but this year all I'm doing is working and trying to heal up. I had a short driveway session yesterday. Mostly practiced flipside illusions and similar dexes like switch and whirl on my weak side. I spent most of my afternoon organizing a bunch of old footage from tassie in 2010 and reminiscing about busking down at Salamanca market.

I look absolutely ridiculous right now. My toes are badly bruised and my ankle is swollen like a grapefruit on my right, I have cuts and gashes all over my shins, my left groin muscle feels destroyed just walking, I have a brace around my right wrist, and to top it all off, I'm blottered with poison oak. FUCK I love Mtn biking.

Anyway I won't be shredding at full potential or trying any daring new styles for at least another week or two. This would be the perfect time to take my summer classes seriously and make a start on some homework... Or I could melt out on some ibuprofin and s this b

So I'm at "work" aka surfing modified right now. I work in conjunction with a physical therapist who was "India's sportman of the year" a few years back and he has absolutely no interest in footbag whatsoever. Either that, or he just doesn't like me. Probably the latter...makes me want to eat a baby.

Re: Anton's Footblog-Going Guiltless

Post by Anton »

Ok I've been on a good routine of daily/bidiemly shreds for the last few weeks so I thought I would use this opportunity to chart my progression.

Busking milestone:
40ish contact run all clippers with 6 guiltless run in the middle of it

Personal achievements:
-Hit my first suuuuper clean Matador (nuke down) 8/22. Didn't touch my setting foot to the support leg on the set this time and it just made my day
-Dive clipper>duck clipper rpt.
-Open switch rpt.
-Open near illusion b2b
-Tapping mirage
-Open mirage bsos

I'm to begin my last semester as a college undergraduate in a week so hopefully I can cram in a few more sessions before I'm locked in a laboratory until December. Looking forward to shredding with 2Z later this week, possibly sir Kevin K, and the recent Kalamazoo resident, Donovon.

Too bad you didn't make it to east coasts, man, it was a good time. Glad you're playing a lot and you should catch a bus or something to penn state for the weekend immediately following halloween, just saying.

I wrote down what sort of links I was hitting last session in order to track my personal progress. I plan to take some of these drills and just add components to them in order to work up to a guiltless toe game. A few of these are requests from Donovon and Mathias. I’ve noted compound moves involving a pixie set with an “open” prefix. All links are from a 40 minute session yesterday in socks. Oh yeah, and pickup and switch means you switch feet (as opposed to orbit/atw)

(Illusion>switch rpt.) X5
(mirage>pickup rpt.) x5
(near mirage) x20
(open switch) x4
(open mirage>pickup) b2b
(open illusion>switch) x6...12contacts,18dexes woot\m/
(open mirage>switch) x2
(mixer>pickup) b2b

I’ll revisit this post in a couple weeks and see what I have expanded upon.
