I am really glad to hear such positive feedback
Jay was a real professional and patron about this whole project! The immersive, audiovisual installation that I have been working on, TRANSMISSION, premiered in it's second iteration on April 13 2012, the same week as the PSU Jam.
I was fatigued and ill from what was the most taxing 4 days of installation that I ever experienced (and I have worked in the field for over a decade) and as a result, I could not even participate in any shred (though I did some judging.) However, Jay volunteered the idea of recording in the space, and our time was well-spent.
It was extremely generous of both he and Michelle Modestino to document this footage when he could have been resting up to compete. It is also particularly awesome of him to have put together the type of professional edit that I would not have, objectively, been able to do on my own.
I was just talking with Nathan Pipenberg the other day, (while sharing Matt Cross-generated guitar patterns), that there is something pretty amazing about the footbag community- both how smart, but also how generous we all are. Well, this was no exception, other than the fact that it
is exceptional.
Great work, Jay. As they say in art school, it's not the artwork but the documentation and you did a killer job.
