yoyoyoy,

nice hilites man. fog>ws and bl grifter stick out to me. I was trying fog>ws last time I played too, what a coincidence. Never sealed it though.

I really wish I could make it to boston, but there's really no way I can swing it. I will do my best to make all the psu kids go in my place, though.

Sometimes the east coast really doesn't seem to pull through, but I don't think it's any worse than anywhere else in the US, and some parts of europe are starting to really decline, too. apparently todexon had like, 9, competitors this year, and it used to be one of the best european tourneys.

so yeah, i hope boston jam picks up steam. I feel like PSU was proof that the east coast can still jam hard, maybe it's just the time of the year.

let me know if ya need a prize bag, I'm good for one.

Dude.....just saw the video...watched it three times

the shuffle looks great...the toe run was sick.....
also....atomic egg was nice....try it b2b
also....love the toe spins
also.....loved the swirling sets....it is refreshing to see another player use this concept...both swirling vortex and swirling mobius looked good...the last one was the cleanest and perfect......great job man...keep pushing..... :D

yo nathan thanks for the post. like i said my bitching wasn't really directed at anyone just an observation. maybe footbag as a whole is stagnating? props to yous guys for working hard to promote it though.

Not sure I ever commented, but I was super impressed by the swirling gyro tricks. They looked amazing.

Good luck with Boston Jam. Throwing jams and tournies can be challenging, but when they go well it's totally worth it. Basically, start early, turn on the charm (make a TON of personal phone calls to get people to come), and keep hyping it.

kens got good advice. we need to pressure people more to come. guilt trips, bribery, outright lying, threats of violence, etc.

NYFA was a blast. I have most of a writeup done in a notebook but we'll see if i ever post it.

in the past week i

-found out one of the best players in NA will be at my jam
-went out with a girl i've liked for awhile
-drank a captain morgan and raspberry milkshake
-drove on the wrong side of a highway ramp
-hit alot of good hacky tricks
-did my first keg stand (40 seconds bitches)

weird sense of like...optimism perhaps???

kevin crowley (black and yellow) visit was fun. boston jam was incredible. writeup soon for sure. I've been playing freestyle for 4 years this month and there was shit that happened at this jam that took about 4 years to happen. having ben little look you in the face and almost solemnly tell you footbag will always be fun and that will never change....unreal more on that later....

played today, i can feel myself kind of slumping, especially at the jam but all things considered its cool.

from today:

-symp whirl>pdx whirl rpt, duck clip>whirling swirl rpt, whirl>tomahawk rpt and a bunch of other new basic type drills.
-best pdx whirling swirls ive ever done.
-whirling swirl>pdx torque both sides
-ripstein>pdx torque (woulda flipped it but my started to hurt)
-flurry>ducking drifter 8O

i don't know. i really really wanna keep pushing though.

realized that for such a weekend a writeup really isn't necessary. when i attempted a NYFA writeup in my notebook, the only parts that didnt feel forced or a chore to write were those about the bsc reunion and waking up early to shred with john. I remembered those things so well because although we're playing hack, its the sense that these moments transcend the value of all things footbag related, it doesn't matter if your hitting alpine sureals or near mirages because you most likely won't remember what you hit only that it meant something. its like saturday night of the jam, me and pete were somehow able to steal a quick spliff sesh on his front porch and we were both just speechless about what was happening around us. I've never had many expectations for this sport or for the boston crew and my own game but there was no way we could have anticipated a weekend like this. I've been playing for 4 years now and here me and the kid who taught me how to fucking clipper are 4 years later somehow great friends and about to be in finals together, you can't force things like that. thats footbag.

i think the only reason i've been able to play 4 years is just how genuine footbag is and moments like that just enforce that feeling. I don't know if i can write a post about how good it feels to see ben little 2+ years later and see him not be able to contain his excietment cuz i just hit mullet midstring. he saw me struggle with basics, he saw me struggle with flip whirls and with stress fractures so to have him tell me how good he thinks i am and how he always knew dosen't really have a feeling i can attach words to . its just footbag. the east coast has pretty much got it going on right now. With every jam i feel shit just getting crazier and crazier...i don't know where this whole hacky thing is going to end up but i feel like we're on the right track, shit has just begun.

after a long post about how tricks don't matter, heres some stuff:

-blurry whirling swirl a few times
-blaze bsos
-mantis
-ps flail>grifter first try
-40ish contacts of shuffle

-kevin

played twice today in new units. my knee feels a little funky but it felt nice to play. first session was all twirls and stupid links, second just basic stalls.

did toe stalls for 15 minutes straight. beat my record easily.

-out toe stalled more important then michael jordan<possibly the highlight of my footbag career.

school next week. i really really need ya right now hacky.

one of the best sessions ive ever had today string wise, felt really confident and controlled.
stuff:

-zulu mirage>zulu whirl
-nuke same mirage>tapping dlo>long string
-ripstein>tomahawk>string
-smog>atomic drifter

also stole like every link nathan did in that PSU video.

also beat my toe stall record (1010) sealed with clipper x20>clipper b2b x20>clipper x20>osising drop.

lasagna.

im tempted to guy on you for bein such a softie but this year in footbag is even makin ya fathah a bit reflective. even if nobody in boston ever played footbag and you had to learn from teh internetz i know you still woulda been great and probably had your own scene and probably even ran your own jams eventually regardless. but i guess thats kinda exactly what youre talking about...it surprised both of us, we didnt really have expectations for the crew, we just kinda solidified naturally along the way, but that what makes it especially cool is tho you (or i) coulda been great just at footbag by ourselves, having a crew pushed us both and gave us experiences that wouldnt have been the same anywhere else in the world. but yeah i dont really take any credit per se, im just glad and proud to be in the right place at the right time to go along for the ride.

and now to steal your thunder: hogan just texted me: blender>jani
