Erik Chan, June 2012 (again)

Post by Muffinman »

Hey guys. I made another.
I played right after an intense 1.5 hour workout, and hadn't played in 2 weeks, so I didn't really have any runs, but hit some stuff I'm happy with, including a trick that I haven't hit on flipside since hitting it good side 10 years ago... (the first predator -- because of a hip flexor injury) For those who follow my blog, I thought I hit 10 blurry whips, but I guess it was 8. Also, if you watch my face, the silly expressions I make switch sides as I switch sides on the tricks!! So that's kinda neat (well.. the faces are silly...).

Comments make me happy ♥

One of the best i have seen from you recently.
I think the music choice plus the way you edited that video make it pretty exciting to watch.
Also, that mastery over whip move make you really unique... you can do some sick drills that most of the people can't!
I'm so glad to see you shred :) Hope to see you sooner then later!

The TJ drill really stood out to me. Good control throughout. The Blips were cool too.

Thank you so much for the comments, guys.
Mat: I look forward to shredding with you in the future too. Unfortunately I don't seem to make many tournaments or events...
Ken: What's a blip?

I dont know what a blip is either ,

Anyway

Nice video man...I can tell you are pushing....looks good. I really liked the barfly>dlo madness....I will try to do that ....Any contacts for me will be beneficial........ Also the gyro dlo>toe ducking symp mirage>pixie rev whirl>far symp rev whirl was great..... I thought you were going bsos

I have watched this one a couple times now.... :)

I challenge atomic dlo>ducking symp mirage>atomic dlo rpt?
and spinning ducking rev whirl>gyro rev whirl> rpt?

Thanks for the video

Thanks so much for all the kind words, Mark. That means a lot :) I think predator > ducking symp mirage [repeat] is beyond my ken right now, since I JUST hit that flip for the first time, and that hip is still really, really weak... But I was actually thinking just before I saw your post of trying tapping DLO > diving symp mirage [repeat], which I think is doable. I'll try that and your reverse maelstrom drill next time. Thanks again!

Erik, your videos are always great. I think I will try getting into doing whips in the near future. Whirl has been a huge weakness in my game so far -- it's one of the few moves that I visibly have difficulty figuring out. Maybe whips will be a little easier. It sure looks cool when you do it!

I'm guessing blip is blurry whip.

Thanks guys.
I didn't see your post before, Reilley.
Yeah, I think whips are definitely easier -- it's less of a dex and you don't dex all the way around, kinda like mirage versus pickup, maybe? Or mirage versus illusion. I did always find them more awkward, though, than whirls. I never figured them out until I had to. I only started doing them because I discovered that they don't hurt my knees as much. The unique factor is a nice bonus :P
