A Tribute To Bob Riefer...

Bob Riefer was my footbag coach from when I was barely tiltless through when I went Guiltless. Through those few years, he's become a great friend of mine... However, I got sad news the other day that he hung up his Lavers for good.

He's contributed an awful lot to the footbag community... He's hosted a few tournaments in Philly (including getting footbag some views at X-Games in Philly), he's created what was once a huge footbag club (Philly Footworks), he's written a 12-15 page manual about how to run an event, he's even taught David Clavens some of basic footbag before he is who he is... I wanted to pay tribute to him in this thread.

So here are some videos from Bob when he was at/near the peak of his game. He may not have been the biggest shredder in the world... but if it weren't for him, I don't think Dave Clavens would be the person/player he is and I know I would still be a one-sided semi-tiltless bastard child.

Since he's quit playing footbag, he's been doing a ton of wood-working in his spare time and spending a lot of time with his wife and kids. Oh and he turned his shred barn into a very elaborate wood-working barn. He was a very passionate foootbag player, and he showed me how amazing footbag can be. Thank you, Sensei.

I'm gonna miss that guy.....

I wouldn't be playing if it wasn't for Bob. He is the man and has put a ton of positive energy into the sport. Happy to hear he is following his wood-working passion.

He is basically one of the only player i'm sad i haven't met yet....

Thanks Bob for being so nice with me back in 2008, when i was still a noob . I remember talking a lot with you in private message. And i remember you were taking my newbie «concern» and point of view seriously. I leardn that a lot from you. I always try to apy lots of attention to new player, and to treat them the same way i would treat more experienced player.

I still wish to meet you at some point !

I never really got to hang out with Bob much (through fault of my own), but I could definitely tell he was a really good guy. Good luck, Bob!

Bob is with out a doubt the man! I didn't really know him until later in my footbag carrier but he ran some of my first tournaments and I am forever grateful. I wish I got more chance to kick at his shred barn and I wish that it was still an option but I guess that's just the way life is.
