oh man it is so ridiculously good it hurts. I've listened to that album so many times now.
Also a couple weeks after it came out streetlight played in san fransisco so my best friend and I drove up. It was an awesome concert. We skanked for like 2 and a half hours. San Fransisco is cold so I was wearing long pants a tshirt, long sleeve tshirt, and sweatshirt and I sweated through all the layers. My sweat even ended up breaking my phone
. But yeah it was great. My favorite was when they played point counter point into keasby nights halfway through and then back to point counter point.

yes we do need to meet and jam to streetlight sometime it'll be awesome...
anyway I'm supposed to keep this updated apparently so here goes. This week new stuff
flip nuclear stuff
symple reverse whirl
paradon on my flip (emily made me do it)
barfly flip
inspinning butterfly
inspinning osis
most of the stuff is new to me just because I have never tried it. Also I hit a lot more tomohawks then I usually hit and hit blurry whirl back to back a couple times for fun. Also did a couple nice 50 contact guiltless runs at the end of sessions just for fun.
tricks I almost hit
riptide
whirr

Waow.. I'm amazed.. mostly by the fact that you've just started actually updating your blog!!!
No... it's cool to hear what you're up to.. I'm still hoping/wishing/dreaming about a trip north to kick with you guys for a weekend.. we'll see!! Otherwise, I'm counting on you at US Open AND at Worlds!!!!!
If you want, I'll send you up some good Chicago musical music... I'm glad you liked it as pretty much everybody else who I kick with seem to think it sucks!!! I love kicking to the rythem, though!!! By the way.. if you have other music you like kicking to, PLEASE inspire me!!!
Untill next time dustin!

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
So, I was going to start writing down what I've been hitting at sessions/what I'm working on and then I remembered these things, so I figured why not do it online here. We'll see if I actually follow through. this sessions I hit great
whirling sets (whirling ss butter, whirling op butter, whirling pdx mirage, whirling ss mirage all both sides)
nuclear sets (mostly only strong but a couple flip) including nuclear whirl
some ok twirls
some good inspins on both sides
I failed on...
blurry whirl > whirling butter
whirl walk
toe sets

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
Thanks Ken, always helpful to know someone is reading. Makes it more likely I'll post.
Standard Tuesday session at Stanford and then another session with Jeff once we got back to Steve's and ate.
Session 1:
good:
More flip nuke's
sumo > merlin
blazing stuff on both sides
lots of flip zoom work and they got better so that's always good
bad:
twirls
failed horribly at surging it's one of my favorite sets and I can't see any way I'll hit it. I don't even mind if it's not super clean, I just can't hit it.
swirls of all kinds (mine are so the it hurts and I can't seem to fix them)
for session 2:
good:
some good twirls
my inspins were doing well both sides today
spinning clipper > in gyro clipper > spinning clipper (so spinning always catching right clipper but changing directions each time)
spinning mirage > osis rpt *3 (the osis is so it switches sides)
spinning mirage > toe spin
some far symple reverse swirls and symple reverse swirls
bad:
drifters as always but getting better
flip pixie bad but getting better (hit flip magellion for the second time)
flip barfly is bad but I hit it once
So yeah going well. Brian and Alex also had lots of good stuff at Stanford and Jeff was drilling hard with me in our short after session.

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
short solo session today
8 b2b drifters (which is very hard for me)
flip pixie work
I hit pixie ss butter > stepping ss mirage rpt. which should be easy but I could never do my flip pixie so I couldn't ever do it
flip double downs
Brian's been trying to get me to do a quick foot change without dexing (so like a stepping or atomic foot change but don't do the dex) for drifters and some double downs. Anyway I was focusing on that today and I think I started to get it.

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
Can you do pixie osis>stepping ss mirage rpt?
That's a drill that's been frustrating me for a long time now.

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
huh that's a good one. Pretty positive I can do it but I've never tried so I'll hit it tomorrow. Stepping out of osis was tricky for me for a long time and still is on harder tricks but I think I can do this one. Trick for me seems to be to hold the osis for longer then you usually hold stepping moves.

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
hit the drill but it's way harder then I thought it would be. Also hit
lots of inspins, spins, and drifters
pdx torque's are horrible, I can often catch them but the set just goes wherever and then I have to do a crazy osis or infinity to get it back in control
a ton of ducks/dives/weaves/zulus
lots of rakes
more flip pixie, hit pixie legover *3 and basically all my pixie tricks that I hit reasonably on my strong on my flip (not mid run but I did hit them eventually)
flip paradon because brian and jeff were drilling it hard
some reverse swirls
bad:
swirls were horrible
flip reverse swirl is no good
I didn't do blazing, nuclear, pdx whirl or a couple other tricks because my knee was sore. I couldn't figure out what it was from but Brian suggested perhaps I jammed it which is probably what happened. Which is a better solution then me doing a trick wrong and slowly destroying it... But since I usually have no knee pain and also couldn't think of a particular trick I did that hurt it and do remember some awkward landings I'm guessing/hoping it's a jam.

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
I claimed no footbag today but I couldn't resist...
125 "quick plant" moves so clipper ss mirage, dlo, and drifter (no torques and I can't do egg beater)
125 illusions
It was a learn drifter, double down, eggbeater helping session.

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
good:
new tricks:
grave digger both sides,
scorpions tale (strong spin flip barfly),
flip blurriest,
yay for flip barfly tricks!
Also, practiced a lot of knee bumps, flip barflys, flip paradon, pdx torque, vortex, mobius
nuclear ss butterfly > ripwalk * 4
barfly > infinity >infinity * 4.5
stepping ss clipper > ripwalk > stepping ss clipper > sidewalk * 6
flails
bad...
I keep landing with my leg way to straight on barflys and flails, basically any illusion type trick, and it's hurting my knees.

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
filmed a bit hit some ok
stepping ducking
mobius
torque -> zoom
drifters
flails
double dex moves on both sides
next session I'm going to work on bending my knees way more as I have this bad habit of landing straight legged on certain tricks now.

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
short session today with brian. Mostly just working on form. Playing with a deeper knee bend worked great! I can feel that it'll lead me to play better even if I'm not used to it yet. I'm also hoping it prevents me from landing straight legged like I was. Plus new trick...
miraging flail (all down time) It was the I'm pretty sure but I should be able to get it clean pretty soon.

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
So with the new style the only thing that was not as good was my shuffle. So I did a lot of shuffle at the end of Saturdays session ending with.
ripwalk * 25 (damn I know I can do better then that)
then
ripwalk * 40 (ok that's pretty good for me)

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
Solo session. Realized my flip ss osis record is like 6... not good, that's why my flip torques/pdx torques/mobius aren't great.
Then I hit a bunch of new tricks
pheonix (not new I hit it almost by accident shortly after playing but I hit it into and out of steps today so I'm counting it as newish)
pixie ducking mirage
quantum ss mirage both sides
quantum ss butterfly both sides
quantum osis both sides
6 pdx whirl rpt.
8 contacts of pdx whirl > ripwalk > ripwalk
then drilled some flip spins for kens challenge. Anyway a good session where I realized there were a lot of tricks I could hit that I hadn't hit yet. I'm hoping the quantums help with barraging...

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
flip ss osis up to 9
pixie ducking osis
flip reverse swirls are finally starting to happen
also drilled flip spin some more. It's better then it used to be but still so bad.

Re: dustin's footbag stuff
stupid hot today so a short stanford session. Was sucking on the pdx. whirls. Hit some pixie ducking.
Hit cleanly...
pixie atomic (sailing?) ss butter
pixie atomic mirage
also
stepping ss osis>ripwalk>ripwalk>stepping ss osis>ripwalk>ripwalk>stepping ss osis >stepping ss osis
I've had trouble stepping out of osis before so that was pretty nice for me.
