Reilley: Thanks! it seems kind of silly to have to do that. Even if I grab the "share" URL, which is shorter, it doesn't work. How am I supposed to know what part is important and what isn't? For example, the "&" symbol... Anyway, I'll play around more next time to get it to work. Thanks again!

Ken: Thanks. I actually tried spinning merkon for the first time this session. It seemed pretty tough. I can prolly manage it with practice, but I need to practice double spinning clipper more, which is a hard thing to do. I can't really do any other tricks -- even osis is tons harder for me. I'll give the wrecking DLO a try next time I remember, though (I have reading week in only a couple weeks now!)

Derek: Thank you :)

Barefoot:
-swirl > blurry legover (both sides)
-symple swirl > blurry legover (both sides)
-whirling swirl > blurry legover (both sides)

I wanted far symple swirls too, but the barefoot wasn't feeling so great on my shins.
It's been my dream for a long time to be able to do far symple swirls at will.

It was super nice out today. I didn't even consider playing, but craziness is winding down momentarily and my classmate suggested I play on account of the weather, although the sun went down really early, so I just made it.
One new trick, possibly: PS DLO (super nova?)
I could only hit it on one side... and it was the side I didn't think I'd be able to do. The opposite side on which I can do backside bedwetter... Super weird. I tried both sides for both tricks today... really awkward...

Anyway, don't stop believin'! \m/ \m/

Oh yeah, I had some weird flickering last time and I think I figured that out. I think it was because I was in low light and tried to export the video in 60FPS. So even lower light this time I set to the default (28FPS?) and it doesn't look like a fake video this time.

Snap man, crazy impressive strings(of course)! I'm obsessed with your Ducking Clipper >Double Spinning Clipper >DLO, you hit it so clean. Was the other Duck to Double spin sealed with a Barfly? My noobish eyes can't keep up half the time 8O . Dig the tunes too.

Thanks Derek, that means a lot :)
I'll clarify the links you're talking about:
-ducking clipper > double spinning clipper > gyro DLO
-ducking clipper > double spinning clipper > blurry whip

Ok, after re-watching I see the Gyro DLO, and I had to look up what a Blurry Whip was. Hah. Oh yeah, that string with the Ripped Warrior BSOS always catches me off guard. Sealed with such a nice run.

Dear Erik Chan,

You are one of my footbag idols. Since I started playing footbag you have been a solid guiltless player, who put videos out and help progress the sport in a positive way. It makes me so happy that to see that you are still playing and making videos while so many others have died off. You are a true inspiration to people like myself who's lives have been completely immersed with footbag. Please keep making videos and playing hacky. Everytime I get a comment on one of my videos from you, it makes all the time and effort put in worthwhile. I have so much influence and respect for you, you're the reason I spin! All of this and I don't think we have ever kicked together. Hoping one day we will.

Sincerely,

Zach Jahner

Wow. Thank you, Zach. That's by far one of the nicest and most meaningful things ever said to me. I spent a few days trying to process how to react. And then school work overtook me and I forget what it was I was going to say. I guess two things stand out: 1) I was really surprised -- you seem like you're at the same level as me, and also I never knew how to gauge reactions to comments on your videos, so I had no idea. Nice surprise! 2) It makes me regret having never really said such things to my idols. I think I did to James Risden who was my first hero back in the day, but I don't think I've ever directly praised my other favourite players, Ricky Moran and Aleksi Airinen. Now I want to think about how I can do that as flatteringly as you have. Thank you so much for the inspiration and kind words. Also, Google maps says that we live, like, 4 hours apart.

Footed spinning reaper both sides (barefoot).
But then I got some weird pain/cramp in the arch of one of my feet. Really strange -- I don't think I've had this pain in hack before. A few attempts were those kind of slowmo moments you get at tricks where halfway through you're like, "I have so much time and everything was executed perfectly -- how did it not happen?"

Really long day at work and school today. Tried to stay at the library after class to work but brain couldn't operate. Got Dark Souls in the mail and played -- good way to celebrate Halloween? :) Super addictive. Gonna relax in the bath now, though, with some thriller movie with Cillian Murphy, Segourney Weaver, Robert DeNiro, and that Olsen sister. And then sweet, sweet sleep.

I've decided to hit flurry at least once (each side) per day in barefeet. It's a dream move that I never actually hit because I'm 1) really bad at it, and 2) the it really bad on one side. I started yesterday. I did it 3 times each side so far today -- not too difficult, although barefoot makes it a ton easier for that legover. I also played with barefoot furious a little. I could prolly hit furies -- had some good goes at it both sides. A bit rough on the knees though. I also footed spinning reaper a couple more times showing my girlfriend who's finally home after 2 months away.

EDIT: Did a bunch more flurries. These are just in 5-minute intervals between school work and making dinner. I hit flurry > toe near symple swirl [both sides] first try? And also flurry > double switch [both sides]. I also think I figured out a way to clean up my flip flurries, but I have no way to corroborate my theory until I make a video.

EDIT 2: a bunch more flurries later:
-flurry > smog [both sides]
Oh yeah. I also think I figured out the trick to symple swirls! I did a bunch of whirling swirls and other symple swirls. There's a floaty feeling I get when I do it right. Maybe that's just me learning to do symple properly? I still can't do regular swirls very well -- I can't get my foot to stay still at the end.

MILESTONE ACHIEVED!
Flip bladerunner

I was hitting this trick pretty consistently back in 2003 and stopped doing it altogether, like my other atomic tricks, when I hurt my flip atomic hip. These days flip atomic isn't hurting as much as flip drifters, which is why I don't do those and why I'm trying to bring flip atomic back. Wow that felt good. I could tell that it really helping me visualize flip atomics in general too. I put a couple attempts into ducking to see if I could attempt some more tricks from my flipside list, but no go. That will be a tough one.

Also, another new trick:
-clipper-set double switch [both sides] (easier than I always thought it would be -- only took a couple tries each side. I don't think I've ever even tried this before?) I also tried some kilos, but they were tricky. Maybe I should try symple reapers next time. Although my knees are also feeling a bit raw. Gonna tone it down. Productive intermittent barefoot sessions though!

Also got in a bunch of flurries. Getting easy (in bare feet at least). These seriously aren't taking many attempts. Today's was first try on flip. Still unsure of cleanliness though. Mark and Nathan: daily flurry support club? :D

Part of today's daily flurries:
Flurry > hand catch x3 [both sides]

Also, the other day I may have hit some more new tricks:
Fairy same mirage [both sides] and
Nallegam [both sides]
Inspired by Zach Jahner.

It's been a while.
Those daily flurries were a bad idea. Been having raw knees for intermittent hacky time. Hopefully they're semi-dialed now though. I even spent one of those days trying in shoes to ensure the muscle memory transferred over. Anyway, new trick just now before study time:
tapping eggbeater [both sides]

Did a 6-page report, a 10-page essay, a 40-slide powerpoint, and a 2-page subject guide on the weekend from scratch, including research, so I took the last couple days off to Dark Souls it up. Beat 3 bosses and, like, 3-5 mini bosses just yesterday alone, many without dying once. Anyone who's played this game knows that's quite a feat. Now it's really hard to force myself back into studies instead of waiting to cram again. Can't wait until this term is over.

Double switchover > tap [repeat]
Atom smasher > pigbeater [repeat]

Alternated sides for attempts, so footed these on the other sides too.
Kept running into my couch and wall on the last trick for the second combo..
Now back to another 10-page paper due Monday.

Thanks Mark :)
I was way more impressed with myself by the pigbeater one though! Flip pigbeater is really tough for me.
Just now:
Eggbeater x6
Flip eggbeater x7

I'm sure I've never done more than 2 flip before, if that. I thought my good side record was 5 before, so fun on both counts. I could prolly do more on good side, but I'm satisfied for the moment. Back to sleep-deprived work. 7 of 8-10 pages. C'moon. I can do it. I'm dying for sleep though.

Smog > pixie same DLO [repeat]

It's not a combo I've ever really actively pursued, but one that I've always wanted to hit. I wonder how much harder the pigbeater version will be...

Boulderbeater > hand catch > other side
Toga [both sides] (toga > quantum hand catch > other side)

I've never hit so many new, hard tricks and combos in such a small time span...
Feels amazing!
I was gonna try for same side versions, but I really should work more on this essay due tomorrow that I've only just started...

EDIT: slapping DLO [both sides]!
