DAAAAM SON! Some big ass tricks in derr. Your nuke's gotten fuckin nasty. The things that really stuck out to me were pdx tap>pixie whirl>rpt, pot bs, nuke gyro mirage bs, and matador>riptide. Super dope. I think I'll have to kick today thanx to your video.

....not that i've been playing more then 2-3 times a week unfortunately. working double downs, far whirls, atomic and twirls alot lately. I think my new units are a bit big for me and the fact that i haven't been to the gym in about a month are factors hurting my style. This being the busiest time of the year and the weather sucking usually results in me playing way less anyways though so it's cool and the gang.

not feeling at my best but i've hit a few good things recently:

-scorps tail wearing my lady friends shorts on her super scenic back porch (big willie style). after 4 years of footbag, was nice to fiiiiinally cross this off my list. I think i have now hit every trick in the first shred session game, aw ya!

i know i forgot stuff but its gucci. everyone should do that last trick, the timing is mad weird but it's not really that hard if you think about it. I really wanna put a stepping set in front of those last 2 tricks...i've gotten around blurriest swirl a decent amount of times and i know i could get rev gig swirl in a few seshes....if i keep playing.

long time no post. life is weird. got an internship at a local public access station as a graphic designer and so far it's a great experience. The people i work with are super cool, honest & really easy to work hard for. I'm not expecting a job to come of this but I feel like i've made a pretty good impression on some people who could influence my future further. i also have a girlfriend now whos also super cool, a total sweetheart and digs me for the headcase hacky slack weirdo that i am. its refreshing and i feel a sense of happiness towards everything thats new. I like life alot now and i'm not sure how i feel about it, i see my potential in life and i feel fullfilled everyday. weird. i also dont (read cant) consult the coach anymore, which is a major source of stress relief but it's been almost a month and i feel pretty good.

then theres the reason why i'm here: hacky. i couldn't be more up and down. the holy shit who am i days of the end of the summer are over (although i did get a phatty nemesis first try a few weeks ago ) and I can't find a central focus point of where I wanna be. There are more gaps in my game then in Rosie O' Donnel's pantys and with life poppin' off its getting tougher and tougher to find time to have real legit seshes. I can't figure out if i wanna just hit fun styley stuff and not worry about being good or if i wanna still be blur>dimwalk rpt all day. I realized I lost alot of the focus I had when I was really into playing and now I get good at a concept for a few months tops and then lose it...(speaking of which just learned muted swirls/rev swirls need to try rev swifter when i get home ). I guess footbagisfootbagisfootbag....I do know that I love nuke and that has stuck with me for awhile....whatever.

random goals for the next few months:
-rubberman II...preferably on vid
-nebula/clownface...same deal
-high plains swirl..bs would be nice
-lock down vortex/pdx whirling swirl/pdx egg
-some combo of bw>spin whirl drill
-7+ fearless

It's always cool to hear kickers doing productive things like having money and working. I wouldn't worry too much about being out of practice. It's the off season. Try to maintain what skills you have whenever you have time to play and I'm sure when it gets warmer you'll figure out how to make time to kick and start dominating again.

Depending on your financial situation this year you should try and make it over to Seattle for the U.S. Open... it would be good training for Worlds!

Footbag vs. job/school/life is a hard balance. I sometimes wonder how much better I would have been if I hadn't spent 6 of my prime years in school getting undergrad and grad degrees from difficult schools. And then of course working the last 10 years. Looking back now, it's impossible for me to say how much better I would have been at footbag, or even if I would have been any better at all. On the flip of that, there are many good current and past players (world champs) who chose footbag over school or career. They might have a different perspective, both when they are at the peak of their game, as well as once they leave the sport. Sacrificing your twenties for footbag can put you behind in terms of lifetime earnings. Though I guess if your parents are wealthy and will support you, that becomes less of a motivator.

I erred on the conservative side with my choice, but now I have a good job with benefits/pension/etc., and I don't regret much in terms of my freestyle career. Would it have been nice to have won a few more tournaments, or gotten some better results? Yes. But it's also nice knowing I can rely on myself and have security in my life too. I think really it all comes down to priorities, and if you make footbag a priority, you don't even have to choose black or white, all or nothing, one or the other. But if you need to make a strong move in either direction, you'll have to make some choices, and that'll be a matter of what's important to you at that moment.

longtime no post yo.

only major change is i got my associates degree in graphic design and got a promotion at my shitty job so at least i can bigger loot while searching for another job. bummed i wont be at worlds but given that im happy that i can pay off all my debt while enjoying life and not be miserable saving money for montreal. if my luck wasn't so shitty this year I totally would have been there but overall im happy with where im at the moment and iv'e definitely learned alot in the past year and am dealing with it much better then I would have a year or two ago.

made the switch from units to lavers also. i think my style looks a little bit better, but overall i havent found too much stuff i was able to do in units feeling much different other then a few concepts. i still haven't really had a furious set other then flurry (cant wait for nemesis in lavers ) but today I hit (flip) mobius>hand>pdx torque>hand>other pdx torque>hand>other mobius first try which i never did in units before, so pretty sure i dont suck at osis too bad ggggggunit.

been playing in pants a bit too. hit both backside hatchets for the first time after some fourloko a few weeks ago plus hit a 40+ run ending on zulu tomahawk, gig(felt thin/the) ripped, food, alpine bw and my second strong side montage all in front of my girlfriend the other day in dress pantz and lavers.

tom from cic is in boston hopefully pete feels better so we can all sesh. havent played with anyone guiltless in months shit sucks...although my homie alan was laying down some mean mirage>pickup>legover action last week.

nyc was a blast last weekend. felt good to get away from work/mass/life for a weekend. really solid group of peepz with nyfa and friedns and its good shit with douglas, t money and b little. eatin hawaiian pizza and sapporo in a sushi place

lowlights:
-hangin with dank again. got zooming muted whirling swirl, fairy weaving clip>mobius, ripstein>yoguybas, stepping whirl>symp whirling swirl all thanks to his cool challenges. bsc (and matchbox 20) for life.
-learned gyro toe bs thanks to boatz and drew. only had done wauxpin before. coolest thing i got was toe blur>gyro toe. oh well. doug hit spin duck gyro toe
-john goode hit fs toe blur>symp egg so fresh and clean. coolest link i saw all weekend.
-sprayed a squirt gun in drews ear.
-had the most casual blackout ever playing halo 4 and watching troma.

one of the best sessions ive had in years yesterday with some skateboarding friends .we went to 2 different skate parks and it was pretty sick at the first one as i had my own fenced off shred square next to the halfpipe. set rubberman as my first goal as i hadn't done it in laves yet and first try got rubberman>pixie whirl>ps whirl>hand>:0.

the rest of the day pretty much went like that. i hit all of my goals, was hitting some pretty good strings with bothsideness and variety. my homies we're slayin their skateboards so good vibe all around.

i hit 2 new triple dexes, both "dream" tricks. the first knicked my calf on the uptime so im calling it sloppy.
the 2nd was backside bedwetter which ive wanted forever. was hitting ps egg all over the place the past few seshes so after playing with the set it a bit i got it pretty smooth and flipped out.

footbag is super fun right now. really kicking in lately that i wont be at worlds but nyc im a few weeks will be ballah.

I was just saying in this thread (general footbag: Footbag, an alternative sport) that skateparks are a great place to play, particular ones where there is an area to do non-skating things next to where the action is taking place (obviously it's not great to play in the middle of a busy skatepark). There are plenty of cool videos from over the years as well of people playing in empty skateparks.

so september is here, summer is over and i have much to think about. i'm done with school at the moment, out of the clutches of johnny d. law in a few weeks and basically just ready to get shit together, stop being retarded, think before i act and fuck myself out of good experiences (hardly knew ya, worlds '13) and just be able to enjoy life. I feel like i learned alot this year, most of it not very good but i think that if i look at it the right way, i really gained alot.

been playing footbag for 5 years now which is crazy for me that i genuenly have liked something enough to carry it on for that long. i don't think i'll ever be as good as i wanted to but i dont really care anymore. the lessons friendships and experiences i've gained threw hack really outweigh footbag in its physical sense. theres people in this sport that i know i could have been good friends with without footbag but footbag just made it ten times easier to find them, and i know we'll be homies pretty much always, which is a good feeling which im thankful for. there are crazy times and memories, that i know i'll remember long after i forget how to read jobs notation. the ground zero bsc tribute, crashing at t$'s frat dorm, hitting nemesis in boston, ian's disco fishtank @penn state are some of the tightest memories i have in the past 5 years, thanks to dem dexes and stalls (speaking of which heres a vid)

something matt kemmer said in his blog recently really hit home with me, that of footbag being one of the few constants in his life. i think back to starting out, being injured and not playing for nearly a year, my view of the game certainly changed alot (and is always still changing) but the enjoyment of playing, no matter the level has always and continues to be there.

now to ignore my bitchass blog for another 3 months.
