On an unrelated note, here is a lopsided trade I pulled off today:

Sold Julien's normal strange sniper rifle today for 2 refined, 1 reclaimed, 2 scrap. (so 2.55 ref, ie the value of a key).

Julien's strange scattergun sold for 2 keys! Stoked about this, since spreadsheet said its value is 1.5-2 keys...so getting max was awesome. Now I need to turn all this metal into some keys.

OK, so for my own organizational purposes, let's take stock of where I am with Julien's stuff. So far I've gotten a good chunk of metal for his items, but not in keys. I will try and buy keys using metal. Keys are worth 2.55-2.66 refined, which usually means buying them means paying full price. I'll see if I can't find somebody who'd give me a bulk discount. But yeah, for now lets add up what I've done so far.

I got everything back from Ken. I have over 40 Refined Metal in my inventory now. Several people have recommended heading to TF2 Outpost to trade them for Mann Co. Supply Crate Keys. Thanks to Ken I probably have enough semi-liquidated wealth to look into an unusual hat.

i just want to brag a little bit:
my strange carbonado sniper riffle is now at 1257 kills
and my sandman is at 1035 with 17 heavies killed

koth_viaduct_event is sooooo fun to kill with the sandman, the monoculus vortex will give you uber and crits !!! its just awesome, i was on top of the whole score board with my sandman only

edit: if you can try to get the unusual scrap metal, that would be awesome, i know it's 1 ref ...

And in exciting news for me, tonight I unboxed my first crate ever. I did some research, and decided that crate #42 had the most items I wanted, and hence the best chance of getting something good. I didn't have crate 42, so I traded for it a couple weeks ago. I was bummed tonight about 9ball, so I decided to uncrate it. I prepared myself fully for the chance I'd get a shitty strange, and crossed my fingers I'd get a cool strange part. I didn't get either. Instead, I got....



















































...an unusual bubble pipe! This hat is worth over a key when it's normal, and I got it unusual! Misty skull effect too, which is pretty badass. Combine the rarity of the hat with the fact that this effect only happens during this halloween event, and I feel like I hit the lottery. It also helps that pyro has been my fav class as of late, so now I have something cool to run around with. Don't think I'll ever unbox a crate again...

The unusual I unboxed yesterday was really cool, and objectively one of the best unusuals I've seen. That said, I decided to float it on the market and see what kind of offers I'd get. When one guy offered me 5 unusual hats for it, I had to take it seriously. While no single one of the hats he had was as cool as my hat, as a whole they probably have more value, and I'd also get unusuals for 5 of my classes instead of just one. So I negotiated with him, and did the following trade this morning:

I've only ever unboxed one crate ever, and I got super lucky. Because of this, I am often tempted to unbox some more crates, but then I remind myself that the chance of unboxing 2 unusuals in a row is next to zero. Yesterday I was tempted to do it anyway, but then I saw a guy on the server I was on unbox 6 or 7 crates in a row and come away with nothing but crappy strange melee weps.

This got me curious, so I thought I'd ask the TF2 footbaggers a question:

What's the worst item you've ever uncrated? And the flip of that, what is the best?
