usual thursday session. It was nice being on a nice floor so I could do symp stuff. didn't play great but hit the possibly new possibly just never this easy to hit before

gyro symp mirage
spinning symp mirage

worked on my symp whirls and they got a bit better
hit paradox flail bsos first try so that's fun

Then I worked on double spin. It's so hard for me to do the footwork properly so I started practicing with just downtime spinning. I'm suprised people don't do this more often.

Then I did my pixie stuff. I've been trying to slow way down on my pixies and do it with good form. It helped some. I also started doing pixie toe > pixie toe but with pixie legover style timing if that makes sense. It's helping and I can do 9 so I get more practice faster.

today I had a crazy knot in my left calf. It's very strange, I don't know why. Lots of osis > step this session...

ripwalk > far osis * 13 or so
ripwalk > ripwalk > osis * 15 or so
stepping osis > ripwalk * 9 or so
stepping ss osis > ripwalk > ripwalk * 12 or so

also a new record on
dimwalk > pdx mirage * 15

good short session with brian today. Haven't had one of those in a while.

pixie toe rpt * 10
gyro barrage (this is a really hard 4, does barrage get x dex?)
some flip spin practice
some symp whirl practice
lots of pixie tricks but not much pixie back to back
spinning mirage ss butter rpt. (flip spinning mirage is hard for me)
gyro mirage and spinning mirage > pixie something both sides.
brian hit a crazy nice gyro double pickup

What's the most consistent Pixie trick you have on each side? Have you considered trying Pixie Ducking op Toe(or any variation) repeat, as drill, or is the flip Pixie not quite there yet? Otherwise, you should try maxing out on Pixie same Toe on your flip side. I shall be making a trip down this Saturday man! Hopefully I can bring my A game, and hopefully shred with ya. :D

most consistent pixie trick is dimwalk flip and either dimwalk or pixie mirage on strong. With dimwalk it's hard to tell as you can't rpt it.

Don't think I can get the height for pixie ducking on my flip. I like pixie ss toe, I hadn't tried that one until today. It's really different for me, I can't do many.

Great! It'll be good to see you sunday.

Stanford session!

lots of clipper shuffle > toe shuffle for 1 or 2 tricks > clipper shuffle
lots of spinning mirage > pixie on both sides
spinning ducking mirage > pixie ss butter
basically lots of toe and clipper and long strings
motion > mobious

Could you do something like Dimwalk >Paradox DLO(or Paradox Illusion) >Smear repeat, or is that pushing it? Yeah, Pixie same Toe is funky to the extreme for me on Flip. Gotta do it in like slow-mo almost, I max out at like 3 for now. Hope you meant Saturday. Haha.

I could maybe do that, it'd be hard though (with pdx illusion, my dlo's are weak). Yeah I meant Saturday. Sorry about that.

fun halloween session with brian in dtmv. Mario bros costumes + music (Although my costume was pretty weak compared to brians).

lots of flip spin stuff is always good
pdx whirl > spinning clipper rpt (don't know why I've never done this before)
like 17 or so contacts of spin of some type > shuffle of some type

good thursday session today. Alex has been playing well this week so that's always fun to watch.

started off with a lot of clipper set legover practice. Both sides near and far
worked flip spin but not as much as I wanted
worked step from osis type tricks
mirkon both sides a good number of times (I can drill spin and legover!)
hit some spinning ducking pretty nice and clean
paradon > barfly > barrage (this is good for me as I'm not so great at double downs and it's my flip paradon and barrage)

Would a Paradox Mirage make that combo easier, or is it not much of a difference? It woulda been dope to see the Mario Bros. get down in public. Were you Mario? Dope shizz, especially that last combo!

oh yeah forgot about that combo, I've done the combo with a pdx mirage. I could do it (and possibly have done?) with a blur also. pdx illusion shouldn't be much harder but pdx dlo would be impossible for me at the moment. I'll give some of those a good try on Saturday!

Yep I was mario and brian was luigi. I didn't quite fit the chubbiness bill but our heights worked really well.

Nice. Yeah, I don't really know many Clipper to Toe moves, so I'm sure you can mix that middle move up to suit you better. If necessary. Figured as much. Haha. You should have used a flammable bag, it could have been your fire balls!

Woo good 6 person saturday session. We had Alex, Brian, Steve, and myself as the standard 4 plus the often there Dave and also Derek!

So that was good, we had a fun session. My legs were feeling good but I wasn't hitting pixie to great.

good atomics and quantums
both side johni walker
barraging pdx mirage
ripped warrior (I really need to get these down)
35 symposium ss mirage
pixie symposium ss mirage
pixie symposium mirage
flip spin/gyro practice (it's getting better slowly but surely)

lots of symposium mirage fun basically. I wish I could convert that skill into symposium dlo/torque but I can not for the life of me figure either of those out...

Also Derek is much better at clippers than I thought he was...

solo session worked...

quantums (for barraging)
johniwalkers (yay they are working well!)
flip spin/gyro (yay getting better!)
some spinning whirl and ducking whirl too
some illusion stuff

everything went ok, hit lots of
quantum butterflys
johniwalker>blurrywhirl first try
flip ducking whirl
spinning whirl a couple times with what I thought was good style

good stanford session, worked on

gyro/flip spin
inspinning
but most of all...
proper whirl form

I didn't hit what I wanted to but I figured out a new form improvement which I've been looking for.

I need to bring my knees higher on a large number of tricks, and this will allow me to do whirls in front of me
I need to learn a quick set for spinning type tricks so I pull the bag less. This will also help with stepping ducking and probably some other tricks.

So yay now I have some good solo session form stuff to drill

Interesting almost brian, steve, and me session today dedicated almost entirely to form. Realized the problem with my whirls (and which fed into lots of tricks) was that I was not rotating my shoulders over the bag. My hips rotated but my shoulders did not, kinda strange.

Anyway after working on it it seems to help most tricks to be set from that heavy should rotation. There are a few tricks (infinity) where it is awkward to catch in that pose so I think you should catch and rotate at the last minute. Anyway it helped a lot!

Also I tried playing in lavers a whole size smaller then what I was normally wearing! I think I liked it although they are sadly like a millimeter to small on my left foot. So I'm thinking that size in terms of new shoes. I've also got my eye on a pair of g units on ebay though, we'll see how it goes.

just a style session today. Practiced the super rotation. So far it's super nice for...

whirls, barrages, barraging, pdx torque (this is a huge one), pdx drifter, inspins

unfortunately it's hard for me to hit it with any spins although it does look better and brian does spinning this way so I'm sure it will become easier eventually.

Great session for form today. The super twist means I have a lot of rotational energy coming from my abs for tricks. Highlights for this session...

pdx whirl * 15
whirl > infinity rpt. times a lot (>30 contacts I think?)
clipper > vortex 10 or 12 contacts
6 double spins
double legover > ss clipper 20 contacts or so
paradox eggbeater. I've never hit any type of eggbeater before so this felt great

the turn makes a ton of tricks look so much cleaner and helps a lot to get energy for spinning tricks. Vanilla spin is probably still worse with this new style as it just isn't used to it yet.

No wonder he's so good!

stanford tuesday today... not our most productive session but it was fun and then I drilled when we got back to steves.

drills were
200 illusions
100 flip paradons (yay these are finally clicking i feel)
100 flip gyros
100 flip spins

the flip gyros and spins feel great with the new turning method, the strong ones are getting used to it but slower as they are pretty ingrained in the other style
